- Awwzm, on 11/11/2009, -0/+20Holy crap! It's good to be Joe Montana.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 11/11/2009, -0/+17I'm not paying a penny more than $48 mil.
- harrisbradley, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1549 mil, I see what he did there

- Palaskowitz, on 11/11/2009, -1/+13Will he take an out-of-state two party bad check?
- eastwood24, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8I didn't know those Haines underwear commercials were so lucrative.
- ketedford, on 11/11/2009, -0/+7Having a little trouble coming up with a 20% down payment.
- dillonflynn, on 11/11/2009, -0/+7Only if you post-date it.
- tnoy, on 11/11/2009, -0/+7500 acres is likely the reason for the high price.
- Barackalypse, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6"He'll be taking other souvenirs with him. "My shoulder's been going numb along with a little bit of the side of my face," said Mr. Montana, who recently underwent several back surgeries. "
So is numbness one of the other souvenirs Joe is taking with him, or was this just a really awkward transition? - dienaked, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6Totally overpriced.
One of our local newspaper columnists (I live in Sonoma County) thinks it should come with $20million in a tin can by the front door and a Super Bowl ring..
That's how overpriced it is. - RunDiggMC, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6I'd love to, but I'm saving up for Ryan Leaf's estate.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4This is the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department. We have created a program using Visual Basic to track the IP address of dillonflynn and DjBearPDX for use in any future arson cases.
Bubbles the Chimp - Deputy Sheriff - Barackalypse, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4Reading between the lines, I don't think he is as well off as you might think. The stated reason for selling the place is to be closer to where his kids are playing college football. Except football only last 3 months a year and his kids would only be eligible to play for 4 years, so why would you sell a house it took you a decade to put together just how you want it instead of just getting a getaway condo for the fall football season?
- rolf, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4With 1% California Property taxes, that's almost $500,000 a year, $5 million a decade. On top of the mortage.
I haven't seen that many pictures, but it just doesn't look worth that much - maybe in the high single digit million or low teens, I guess, but I'm no expert. Is the couple trying to get out what they stuck into it maybe, or just think it's worth more than it is? I think Larry Ellison stuck a bunch of money into his property, but he'll never get it out because it's so highly personalized to his every liking. I don't think it would have bought that much a few years back when real estate was flying high. Are those 500 acres prime development area now, maybe, justifying the price? Someone clue me in. - dillonflynn, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3Eh, it's in Sonoma. It's just gonna burn down sooner or later.
- zoethebitch, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3I coded a digg comment IP address retrieving back-scanning MySQL thermo-widget in CS101. The address is 12.0.286.145.96.
The technology is classified. Don't ask how it works. - cryinlion85, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3$3.50 ... cash ...
- DjBearPDX, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3I see what you're saying, I'll meet you out back with glove, a gas can and some matches...wink, wink
- osteor10, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2 Paco: The waterboy is killing em! He's the best tackler I seen since Joe Montana.
Walter: Joe Montana was a quarterback, you idiot.
Paco: I said "Joe Mantegna". - freezo1994, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2OR 3 EASY PAYMENTS OF $45,000,000.00
- poopin, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3I'll call you when I can actually get a decent job...how's that for you?
Can't imagine why there is class warfare. - dlgsky, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2Yea, some idiot who happens to have $49 million.
- IHKumicho, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2With 20% down ($10m) and a 6% interest rate, that's only $239,820. Per MONTH. Not including property taxes or insurance. That's the value of my house handed over to the bank, every single month....
- dutchguilder2, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Pretty remote, not much around...
http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/joe-montanas-h ... - theNazz, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1"As Mr. Montana neared retirement, the Montanas began searching for their retreat. They declined to say how much the property cost; records are unclear."
They bought in 1984... he picked it up for next to nothing and built a very nice house on it.
$49 million? Good for the schmuck that can afford to pay 10x what it was bought for. - trdrstv, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1"Larry Ellison stuck a bunch of money into his property, but he'll never get it out because it's so highly personalized to his every liking."
That's a perk of being one of the richest people in the world. You get to make your house(s) however you like, and not give a ***** about resale value. There is tremendous value to living "exactly how you want". - Crosshare, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I gave him a dollar.
- audrina22, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1i believe its million.
- cyberclown, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Napa, Sanoma and Mendicino counties are the best of the wine country but damn 49 mil for 500 acre's.
- shamanking911, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1$3.75
- web2pointYo, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Yes.
- web2pointYo, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1For every "flying high" that was, there is a flying high yet to come.
- EddiePotato, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Factor in bragging rights for it being "Joe Montana's house". The kind of person that buys a phallus symbol like this is the kind that puts a lot of value into bragging to their yacht club friends.
- Charlie1er, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Maybe when I will have my next paycheck...
- ericdano, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1He now lives in the Lafayette area......and his house there ain't too shabby either....or was. The article says he lives in Thousand Oaks now.......
- buzaman, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1He's got to find a house on eastside Seattle, his boy is going to play for the Huskies.
- robbiedo, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Can I get an ARM and amortize interest for 30 years.
- edville, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1wow wow wow WOW WOWWWWWWWW
- sizzzzlerz, on 11/11/2009, -0/+0Damn, you'd need to be an NFL quarterback to afford that place.
- inactive, on 11/12/2009, -1/+1brb getting 49 billion out of my ass to pay the dude
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1Must be selling it after his football game franchise lost out to Madden.
- tgc1, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1That's it?
- FXNGLAS, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1Yet some idiot out there is probably willing to pay just to say "This was Joe Montana's house."
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -2/+1You're doing it wrong, it's Thwee Fiddy.
