crap! - inactive, on 08/07/2008, -2/+6OH NO, SPORTS ON DIGG? Graveyard in 5...4...3...2...1...
- KayIslandDrunk, on 08/07/2008, -0/+4For some reason I don't think he's playing for the money, maybe because he ignored the buy-out. I think the man just wants to play football.
- theduffster89, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3It means that Chad and Clemens are *****
- lukemorris, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3Report said Pennington will likely get cut.
- Zanarkand, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2The Madden Curse lives on and is stronger than ever. It managed to ruin someone's career and legacy even after retirement. Brett might have an OK season this year but his legacy in Green Bay and in the eyes on many NFL members and fans is tarnished forever.
- napk, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Something tells me the price just went up.
- ftw8tw, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2It doesn't matter what he does imo...
He's still a Locked In, First Ballot Hall of Famer - nomadofthewaves, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2My comment from another person not knowing anything:
Why the ***** does everyone bring MJ up in this and get it completely wrong?
MJ's first retirement was after the MURDER of his father. His father always wanted him to play 2 sports like Bo Jackson. So he fulfilled his murdered fathers wishes and retired to play baseball.
He came back and completely owned the NBA for a 2nd 3 peat.
2nd time he did it to a. help the wizards since he had ownership in them, which he passed off to someone else since he became a player, and b. He was probably ***** bored of playing golf everyday and doing jack *****.
I mean you're the God of basketball the NBA to him at that time was like a group of elite street teams to him. Not to mentioned his whole life was devoted to the sport just as Brett Favres probably was.
Legends can't walk away before they're ready to and I don't think the really give a flying ***** what the general public thinks about their legacy's. - elmontsmilitia, on 08/07/2008, -3/+4J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
- slamm71, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2He won't be traded to the Vikings. Nfl.com states that "the Packers took great pains to ensure that Favre would not be traded to the Vikings by inserting a 'poison pill' in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to Minnesota, the Jets would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay."
- livejamie, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2Hhaha I lol'd
- pgrit154, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2I was a Packer fan for.... well, as long as I remember... still was up until this whole ordeal. I am no longer a fan because of the way they treated a Packer legend... no loyalty.... complete BS.
- reaper527, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1what about the fact its +0/-0, when all the comments are supposed to start at +1/-0.
must be a glitch. (also, i don't remember the capcha being here yesterday for comments, they must have updated the comment code) - Triticum, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2J-E-T-S BRETT BRETT BRETT!
- foofightrs777, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1I'm a Jets fan..but have also been a fan of Farve for as long as I've watched football. Unfortunately, I just know that at the first sign of adversity 90% of douche bag Jets crowd will boo him. This is something I never wanted to see; especially in person since I have season tickets. I grew up on the Jets and still love them, but man do I hate most of the ignorant fans.
- djholybolt, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2you should kill yourself for such a stupid statement.
- jaxontyler, on 08/07/2008, -2/+3OMG ITS OVER THANK GOD
- sancho320, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2Ugh. I suddenly remember why I don't come to digg for sports...
- Dman011, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1Chad sucks anyway. He has no arm and he is too fragile. I wanted to give Clemens a shot, but I have no doubt that Brett is better than both of them.
- kenedamick, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Man what a depressing set of circumstances - Croyle is horrible and now he'll be pushed by an equally horrible and beat up Chad Pennington.
- sandersdamnit, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0J-E-T-S Brets Brets Brets. sorry I ***** hate the Jets but I couldn't help myself
- NJank, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1have no fear. it'll be like emmitt smith going to Arizona. it's irrelevant. no one who thinks of smith will think of AZ, they'll think of Dallas.
- netant, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Even as a Jet fan, I'd have to say that the Patsies have the edge on that matchup.
- proficient, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Oh lawd.
- slantyeyed, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0So maybe the Madden curse will affect both the Packers and the Jets?
- ManHammer, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0 "and voice shouted from Lambeau Field saying 'It Is Done' - and the people of Green Bay did cry and wail, and the angels did weep...." - 7 Aug 2008
- liquilife, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1It's simple. Brett Favre announced his retirement. They spent the entire offseason preparing for a football team without him. Favre made this ugly by coming out of retirement at the last moment. I understand his passion to continue and play the game and we all know he has profound respect not only in Wisconsin but in all of the NLF. That being said, every action has a reaction and in this case he announced his retirement at the end of last season. This is the reaction. I wish him luck with the Jets, he'll need it.
- jeremyswenson, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I dont know whether to say congrats to Jets fans on Favre.
Or sorry to Favre fans on Jets. - chadu, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0correction. greatest QB in the league's history.
- jpbreeder, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Football fans you gotta like this trade, Favre is an icon. He wasn't getting the respect he deserves in Green Bay, New Yorkers will be once again be watching Jets games so everybody wins. Laveranues Coles and Brett Favre are gonna be explosive, Go Brett!!
- rjyanj, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0joe montana played in new york? nope.
- gkiltz, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0For his sake, as well as the Jets, I sure hope it doesn't end up anything like Johnny Unitis to the Chargers, or Joe Namath to the Rams!
Now that he's played his way INTO the Hall Of Fame, lets hope he doesn't go to the Jets and play his way OUT!
That's certainly possible! The Jets have always had a good defense, but really haven't had an offense since Namath! - tava0002, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I'm just glad he's out of the NFC North! Vikes baby!
- Blade2000, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Hooray! Now we might win more than 4 games this season! I'm doing the happy dance!!!! :)
- 1gunners4, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Veterans on the Tampa Bay team got together and decided that he wouldn't mesh well.
Basically, they didn't want his drama. - spaceshipsix, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1Don't you mean two of your friends?
- LtD4n, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Everyone on this page must have zero diggs!

(seriously, wtf?) - inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Where in the world is Favre?
- sinister123, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Brett Favre is a funny name.
- chadisawesome, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1ouch... that's smart business.
- Snafu7, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Sorry..?
- netant, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0I'm just curious, what would be your choice preference?
1) Brett Favre is compelled by the NFL league office never to play another game?
2) Brett Favre allowed to sign with the Vikings?
3) Brett Favre sitting on the bench as a GB backup?
4) Brett Favre being the starter, GB not getting to the Superbowl in 2009, and GB future for the next five years being screwed up by not letting Rodgers play QB in GB, and the team being treated as a laughing stock because their front office lets them get pushed around by a primadonna and over-the-hill players? - Yoshi2000, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Lame, he should of went to Tamba Bay.
- bearcat8543, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0favre needs his own sports channel and a dedicated team of journalists. that way we can watch something else on fox sports and espn.
gawd! - AddiX, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0ESPN busted a nut when this happened, now they wont know what the hell to talk about.. But we all know they will talk about Farve somehow. Hopfully for the time being I dont have to hear about his 4 interceptions a game throwing ass.
- PhreakMac, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1Fav-re in purple? NEVAR!!!!
- JasonPeck, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1reeeeaally???
