- hockey, on 03/04/2008, -7/+263I gotta be honest. He's still able to compete at a high level and he still LOVES to play football. In other words I would not be at all surprised if he decides to un-retire. Regardless of what happens, in my mind his legacy is sealed as one of the greatest NFL QB's of all time.
Also as a Falcons fan I'm going to go cry now in the knowledge that we basically traded this guy to Green Bay for a jersey and a couple of footballs. - dkguy55, on 03/04/2008, -3/+249He had a great season to end a legendary career.
- burnfromwithin, on 03/04/2008, -2/+188Thanks for the memories Brett. You've been one hell of a player.
- broseas, on 03/04/2008, -5/+136I'm a 19 year old packer fan and Brett is the only starting quarterback i knew this entire time. With his amazing streak of games started, i can remember one packer game starting without him. This might be the end of the world for all that i know
- Jaserr83, on 03/04/2008, -7/+128Kevin Rose must be crying his eyes out right about now. It's weird that after a great season Favre would retire.
- jeterfan, on 03/04/2008, -1/+101It's a sad, sad day for all cheeseheads!!!!!!! He'll be missed!
- Nodaki, on 03/04/2008, -4/+93Does anyone not like Brett Favre?
A real class act in sports. - listrophy, on 03/04/2008, -4/+87I'm in Madison, WI right now, and the office is silent, save for a few sniffles and the occasional heaving sob. We might have to call a company holiday on this one.
- Starflyer59, on 03/04/2008, -2/+81As a Wisconsinite & Packer fan, all I can say is enjoy Rex Grossman for another year.
- HughesAP, on 03/04/2008, -1/+80He will easily make Top 5 all time QBs
- fyrfox55, on 03/04/2008, -4/+79I'm incredibly proud to say I was at Lambeau for his last game. I'll miss you Brett! Thanks for 17 great seasons!
- DraggingTheLake, on 03/04/2008, -8/+82Now the most powerful working man is God.
- brettsontfarrey, on 03/04/2008, -1/+55Time for Aaron Rodgers to put on his chin strap and try to stay healthy.
- airforceteacher, on 03/04/2008, -2/+55I'll never forget John Madden's best line ever. "He's the best throwing linebacker in the game." It was said with the utmost reverence for the toughness and all-around football mindset Favre displayed.
- jaredvolkl, on 03/04/2008, -0/+51As a Vikings fan, I was usually cheering against the guy, but I also saw him play a lot. I have a whole lot of respect for the guy.
- sdub86, on 03/04/2008, -4/+54Lifelong Southern Miss and Green Bay fan here. I've read this article five times and I'm still numb. I don't believe this. There's no way he can leave after last year. He's still got it. Come on Brett, one more year...
And what's with the obsession with Randy Moss? Our WRs were the strength of the team last year! We don't even need to make any major upgrades to the team! After we address any depth issues in the draft we'll be ready for another shot at the title! We were within 3 points of the Super Bowl! WTF! - tehpwnerofn00bs, on 03/04/2008, -2/+50We don't talk about that.
- jrinco11, on 03/04/2008, -1/+43FAVRE FOREVRE!!!!
- alpha19, on 03/04/2008, -1/+43Brett was definitely one of the most passionate players of the game ever. You could see the human in him and respect him for who he was and what he did.
Thanks Brett. - nick2, on 03/04/2008, -2/+43Thanks for everything Brett. You were amazing to watch.
He was traded to the Packers on my third birthday. It is going to be weird seeing a different QB snap the ball for the Pack now. - tjordan83, on 03/04/2008, -1/+36This ***** sucks, but it had to come one day...
- alpha19, on 03/04/2008, -1/+35ouch... epic burn
- aliengoods, on 03/04/2008, -3/+35This is truly a day of mourning.
- packman86, on 03/04/2008, -2/+33Worst. Day. EVER!!!
- inactive, on 03/04/2008, -1/+30Aaron?
- Guinnessdsu, on 03/04/2008, -7/+35Unfortunately this means his last NFL play is going to be the interception he threw.
- Grimace421, on 03/04/2008, -1/+29As a football fan, it sucks to see the iron man go. But as a Bears fan I'm relieved that the "Bear Slayer" is finally out of the NFC North... ;)
- tehnico, on 03/04/2008, -0/+28I thought the "Bear Slayer" was Rex?
- slvrbullet87, on 03/04/2008, -1/+28How many times has Rex choked with the game on the line?
- honorablesauce, on 03/04/2008, -1/+28I wouldn't wish Rex Grossman on anybody, not even a Bears fan.
- buckedup, on 03/04/2008, -2/+29Living in Green Bay its like waking up to my worst nightmare....We all knew the time would come but we never wanted that time to be now....Brett you gave us some of the greatest memories in NFL history and helped put Green Bay on the map...Thank You and God Bless
- mxmxmx, on 03/04/2008, -0/+26Same here, the packer fans who are all our age are seeing the end of the packers they grew up with. Its gonna be so sad watching a packers game without him, he was the game for me. I honestly don't know what the packers are without him, he is the packers, whenever i think of the green and gold, its always number four that pops into my head.
- T3hJ3hu, on 03/04/2008, -2/+25I love you Brett. :(
- Kauzman01, on 03/04/2008, -0/+22I live two blocks from Lambeau Field and save for mourners and fans, and news crews, everything else has ground to a sad halt.
- GoatRoper, on 03/04/2008, -2/+24Every TD pass favre has ever thrown; http://data.jsonline.com/sports/favre/
- lordshank, on 03/04/2008, -1/+21Sad to hear. Favre was one of the more down to earth guys in football. No fancy chains or flashy moves, just a believable human being with drug problems and kids and all of that *****. We'll miss you.
- roguepirate, on 03/04/2008, -1/+20In related news, John Madden has committed suicide
- TJ11240, on 03/04/2008, -4/+23Get the ***** out
- posure, on 03/04/2008, -0/+19That makes me a sad panda. :-(
Thanks for all the great times, you were a pleasure to watch. - tehnico, on 03/04/2008, -0/+19You really needed that equipment though.
- Twister47, on 03/04/2008, -0/+18The end of a great era
- coyoteblue, on 03/04/2008, -0/+17I'm a bears fan, and I must say, he will be missed.
He's a damn good quarterback, and a hell of a lot better than anything Chicago's been able to pull up in a looong time. - aeiou, on 03/04/2008, -1/+18He quit while he was ahead. I am a packers fan, but you had to expect it to some point. You gotta respect him for going out before its too late. Would it have been better to end his amazing career with a bad season?
- isiah1, on 03/04/2008, -2/+19I bleed orange & navy blue but I feel the impact of this loss. There is an emptiness.
I will miss watching one of the last true professional sports icons that actually enjoys the game he plays for no other reason. I will miss watching him on Sundays. - nshef, on 03/04/2008, -3/+20As a lifelong Packers fan, I wish to announce my own retirement from life.
Thank you, Brett, for so many seasons of fun. - ChairShot83, on 03/04/2008, -1/+17Aaron really stepped up when Brett was injured. I actually saw hope that Green Bay might not totally suck without Farve.
- cooppw02, on 03/04/2008, -0/+15Well, it's somewhat fitting: his first pass attempt in the NFL was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.
That said, I've been fearing this day for a long time.
I'll miss you, Brett. - inactive, on 03/04/2008, -4/+19An All American Bad Ass
- slvrbullet87, on 03/04/2008, -3/+18Yeah i would kick the crap out of myslef if i owned the falcons.
Farve was one of the greatest -
