- vols1990, on 09/07/2008, -17/+98Buried.. For being uploaded 14 months ago..
- S5S5S5, on 09/07/2008, -37/+108Nice coaching. You can't beat the other team through fair play so you resort to trickery.
Maybe the title of this story should have been "Training the CEO's of tomorrows Enron's one football game at a time" - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -7/+77Those 40 seconds are worth more than Soulja Boy's whole career.
- danieljludwig, on 09/07/2008, -4/+63it's legal but it's cheap
no decent coach would teach his kids this kind of play
by the way, it's been done before - cran, on 09/07/2008, -6/+59Poor sportsmanship.
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -1/+52Wonder how many drunk dads were swinging at eachother in the stands after that one.
- iJase, on 09/07/2008, -5/+56This play is completely legal. The center hands the ball to the quarterback through his legs, like how most traditional plays begin. This is known as the "Wrong Ball" trick and it's pretty genius. But this video is nothing new. It's hit the front page multiple times.
- BigBrasky, on 09/07/2008, -1/+34The snap was legal, wasn't it?
- colonelcupcake, on 09/07/2008, -15/+46Wait... If he had the wrong ball why did he run all the way to the other end zone? Shouldn't he have switched balls first?
- klick37, on 09/07/2008, -1/+27That's what happens when you let engineers make plays for your team.
- spudwrench, on 09/07/2008, -2/+27"How to be a douchebag coach 101"
- guruboyguru, on 09/07/2008, -0/+25BigBrasky, I don't think you understand. Pramma is literally a football expert. If you asked, he would tell you all about his high school career. He would probably have stories for you.
He wouldn't tell you that this play is legal. He wouldn't tell you there are videos all over the interweb of the play being carried out at least to the high school level. He surely wouldn't elaborate upon the rules that this play breaks, because they're too complicated for you. - Tophillious, on 09/07/2008, -2/+27Old as bujeebus. Still funny tho :)
- capnpike, on 09/07/2008, -0/+24The "Wrong Ball" play is not a legal play in many High School Athletic Associations (therefore not legal in the 'peewee' leagues).
Last time I saw it tried, it drew a 15 yard penalty - Personal Foul -Deceptive Play. - ghostrc, on 09/07/2008, -2/+25other video of a high school team doing this trick
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1IVlep60UQ - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -9/+32Yes i agree, I should have edited this from break.com, it's obvious it isn't high school....but it is indeed a legal play. The QB takes the snap and moves laterally along the line of scrimmage. It's totally legal.
- seastobble, on 09/07/2008, -0/+19I think it's a cheap trick by a dirty coach
- e03179, on 09/07/2008, -0/+17It doesn't matter what he does after the snap. The snap and formation are the most important thing for this being a legal play. Moving laterally has nothing to do with the play as he could walk to the coach (the coach was calling him to the sideline to aid in the trickery) who could be in front or or behind the line of scrimmage.
- prgmctan, on 09/07/2008, -3/+20sarcasm WOOSH
- cavsct94, on 09/07/2008, -4/+21All football plays are trickery you chucklehead.
- diggspellcheck, on 09/08/2008, -0/+16It's an illegal play:
It's illegal according to Rule 9 in the NFHS rules book.
"Rule 9-9-4 (page 73) = Neither team shall commit any act which, in the opinion of the referee, tends to make a travesty of the game. "
Additionally, if you look in the NFHS Football Rules Case Book, they give the following example:
"9.9.3 Situation B: From a field goal formation, potential kicker A1 yells, "Where's the tee?" A2 Replies, "I'll go get it" and goes legally in motion toward the sideline. Ball is snapped to A1 who throws a touchdown pass to A2.
Ruling: Unsportsmanlike conduct prior to the snap. The ball should be declared dead and the foul enforced as a dead ball foul.
http://dumcoach.com/viewthread.php?tid=1282
There is an NFL rule called, "Palpably Unfair Acts." Under this rule, no player, substitute or fan shall interfere with a play by any act that is deemed palpably unfair.
The coach acknowledging that the ball is the wrong ball or a defective ball could be viewed as interference of a play in an unfair manner. It interferes with play and distracts and confuses the other team. It's the same as the coach yelling fire.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bear ... - Sroek, on 09/07/2008, -11/+27Pussy play.
- Frejesal, on 09/07/2008, -4/+18Legal or not, the coach should be banned for the worst example of sportsmanship ever.
- whazdown, on 09/07/2008, -8/+20Not really, if the other team don't know the rules of the game then so be it. You're not taking a dive or kicking someone when they're down, you're taking advantage of the situation, capitalising on opposition stupidity.
- DirtyBinLV, on 09/07/2008, -3/+14It was ancient 14 months ago.
- tramblings, on 09/07/2008, -1/+12That little turd!
- co79, on 09/07/2008, -0/+9What a lack of class! This is an old clip, also. Obviously, wasn't able to coach his kids up to snuff so this idiot resorts to this.
- Flashtone, on 09/07/2008, -4/+13H4x
- Akira121, on 09/07/2008, -11/+20Are you ***** serious?
It's a legal play.
We did the exact same play in when I was in pee-wee football but the ref called it dead since she was a total moron, and we told her beforehand we were going to run the play. - tocsy, on 09/07/2008, -1/+10Don't worry, colonelcupcake. I thought it was funny.
- BetterOffEd, on 09/07/2008, -0/+8Indeed it is. Did you hear a whistle?
- rjhomuth, on 09/08/2008, -0/+8Wow, you're like 85% of Digg compacted into one outspoken user.
- stereoa, on 09/07/2008, -4/+12To the people bitching, I guess play-actions shouldn't be allowed right? No tricks. Just take the ball and run. Oh yeah, don't do any laterals or reverses or fake punts either...
- IsaiahCisneroz, on 09/07/2008, -4/+12Seriously. If this is what digg is coming to then I'm going to leave this so called "community." Digg used to represent new and exciting things on the internet. Not such things like; FW:FW:FW:FW:AWESOME FOOTBALL PLAY. This is ridiculous.
- brentinkc, on 09/07/2008, -1/+9Five points to anyone who can spot the keyword in that comment.
- cphoover, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8my basketball team did something like this where everyone fell on the ground and pretended to be having heart attacks. The other team was like what the hell, and one of our players went in for a layup. we told the ref before hand we were going to do it and it worked like a charm. hilarious. As long as your not breaking the rules fair-play right. plus anyway we are talking about amateur sports here it is all in good fun, get a life people.
- AAK15, on 09/07/2008, -0/+7Actually, the guard didn't pull on the DE, making this play not a trap
- S5S5S5, on 09/07/2008, -19/+26A legal play? They're pretending that there is something wrong with the ball and pretending to change it. It's trickery. Same as pretending to have a heart attack during a boxing match and then punching your opponent in the face. If you were the better sportsman, you wouldn't need such "legal plays". Only losers would resort to these kinds of tactics.
- Crumbeast, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8Fake audio cues are common in football at every level of competition. It's totally fair.
- TimeIsTissue, on 09/07/2008, -0/+7i remember you! your the mr babyman hater too!
- goreyend, on 09/07/2008, -4/+11Regardless of the logistics of the play, this is a dirty play.
- sneekgeek, on 09/07/2008, -2/+8This clip is so old. Buried. Wish I could bury twice for LewP not looking close enough that its NOT high school football.
- PixelD, on 09/07/2008, -1/+7Spy's sappin my...........touchdown?
- thegrantman, on 09/07/2008, -0/+6Of course not....they invented it.
- ThatGeek, on 09/07/2008, -5/+11yep, the next time i coach a game, ill be sure to tell the other coach what im going to do. Just so no one feels bad when they leave the field.
- Pinkertinkle, on 09/07/2008, -1/+6Worf says: They have no honor.
- ceredron, on 09/07/2008, -2/+7Hate to bring it up, but there are thirds football teams at a lot of schools, consisting of 9th and 10th graders, mostly, who could easily pass for this. And as for the "friday night lights"...
3rds football plays a good three hours before varsity does. And usually on thursdays. - geek_xyu, on 09/07/2008, -0/+5by awesome football play do you mean "the annexation of puerto rico"?
