- ssquared22, on 06/12/2009, -3/+44Can't help but agree that Atlanta has a better quarterback now. Vick's too physically talented to not get another look from an NFL club, but I wouldn't want to be that team. My guess: he'll be a Raider.
- johnoneal, on 06/12/2009, -6/+42So we call animal torturing sacks of ***** "troubled" these days?
- Lax32, on 06/12/2009, -3/+30As a Falcons fan I'm glad we are moving on with Ryan and past the Vick fiasco of the past 2 years, but the circus thats been surrounding this is just outrageous. He fought and supposedly killed dogs. I get it, there isn't any justification. But its kind of odd to me that all these groups are popping out of the woodwork and protesting/trying to bully around the NFL over it.
I get that because Vick was a bit of a superstar the frenzy is going to be bigger, but where are these people protesting Leonard Little? The guy KILLED A PERSON and he's playing in the league. What about Ray Lewis? Donte Stallworth? The countless drunk drivers, spouse beaters, drug abusers?
I'm not justifying dogfighting or anything, but it just strikes me as odd that people are acting like its the end of the world and actually trying to change the NFL policies (as PETA has), yet they were nowhere to be found when people commited (in my mind) worse crimes against actual humans. - dannymb877, on 06/12/2009, -7/+25He has paid his debt to society. Unless he were to stubbornly insist that he did nothing wrong, he should be allowed back into the NFL.
As a society, we have to let people work at whatever job they are qualified for after they leave prison. Otherwise we should just impose life sentences on every offender. - vooboo13, on 06/12/2009, -2/+19or a dog who has bears in his mouth so when he barks bears come flying out.
- cloviejr, on 06/12/2009, -2/+17Matt Ryan is the future
- GQCarrick, on 06/12/2009, -7/+20I'd love to see him get mauled............by a dog.
- StatusWoe, on 06/12/2009, -2/+15or a bear who is friends with a dog.
- IphtashuFitz, on 06/12/2009, -2/+14I'll be curious to see if 1: another club does pick him up and 2: that other club starts getting protested on a regular basis by groups like PETA. (Not that I'm any fan of those lunatics.)
- timeshifter, on 06/12/2009, -1/+12Prison for the rest of his life?
Not sure I want to know how you think we should punish people who harm other humans. - asgardshill, on 06/12/2009, -4/+15Jerry Jones could always use a good backup jailbird.
- motorboatinsob, on 06/12/2009, -2/+12I respect your opinion, but I thought he was horrible. I remember when they put Matt Schaub in against the Patriots when Vick got hurt. It was like watching an actual football team...not a running back who couldn't sit still in the pocket. I sure hope he doesn't get to play in the NFL again. Him and his brother are two stupid mofos who completely blew their talent because they can't get past being stupid thugs. His brother was worse, but Michael is not innocent either. Ron Mexico!
- Hetman, on 06/12/2009, -0/+9Here is the thing he was convicted of illegally gambeling and crossing state lines. Which made it a federal case. The government does not care that he was killing dogs, they care that he was making money illegally and they could not tax it.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -3/+12I may be able to forgive Michael Vick's financing a dog fighting business and even culling underperforming dogs, but not his drowning, electrocuting, and hanging dogs. The man is a sociopath,
- harrisbradley, on 06/12/2009, -5/+13'troubled' is such an understatement
- romeyinfc, on 06/12/2009, -0/+8That's why the Raiders make sense. I bet that PETA protesters are as afraid of Raider Fan as the rest of us and won't set foot in that parking lot.
- Sean42, on 06/12/2009, -0/+7Michael Vick killed dogs for fun,
He sucks. - GQCarrick, on 06/12/2009, -3/+10I hope all that dogfighting was worth it Ron Mexico.
- jedinate, on 06/12/2009, -1/+8While I actually agree with your comment, the analogies just don't work for Vick, it's not like he will be going back to his job at the dog kennel, it's the NFL.
- EddiePotato, on 06/12/2009, -6/+13"Troubled". Like the poor guy just has a lot on his mind. How about "a-hole quarterback".
- TexasShiv, on 06/12/2009, -1/+8What's the other, being fanatical?
- TexasShiv, on 06/12/2009, -2/+8How is that an understatement? How possibly is that an understatement? Do you really think he is mentally insane? Is that what you want to label him?
Look, he fought dogs. It's part of Southern culture. As much as you hate it, it's going down right now. It's as much as Southern African American culture as chicken fighting is to Mexico. We only find this "appalling" because we are all so emotionally attached to our dogs. What if he had been fighting, I dunno, wild boar or something of that sort. Would everyone be in such a fit then?
I'm not condoning this actions by any means. I just want people to step back, and take a look at the whole picture and realize that this man has been vilified enough. He has paid his debt to society by his jail term, and in the great sense of this country, he deserves another chance.
Just think about it. - RealmDown, on 06/12/2009, -2/+8A dog day afternoon
- BrewBeau, on 06/12/2009, -0/+6I don't know about for the rest of his life, but he certainly got a light sentence and the house arrest was a joke. I'd love to be under that kind of house arrest.
- ryansmith18, on 06/12/2009, -0/+6I'm a dog lover for sure, but even I gotta say that that's a little extreme.
- asgardshill, on 06/12/2009, -0/+6Any stadium where Vick eventually does end up is going to be hip-deep in Milk Bones thrown from the stands on game day.
- BrewBeau, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5Yeah, it's pretty sad. If he had been convicted of having sex with a 17 year old, he'd be a sex offender the rest of life and he'd be labeled as such. But since he "only" tortured and killed several dogs, in a few years it won't even be a topic of discussion when talking about Vick. Have you seen the episode of Dog Town on National Geographic channel when they try to rehabilitate the Vick dogs. It makes you want to do horrible things to him and anyone who participates in such bullying, childish behavior.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5Yea, he just has to pretend to be a holy and pious person. It works for all the child pedophiles in the church. Bible nuts start going blank when they hear someone quoting scripture at them. Even if it's from a child rapist or dog killer.
- martoq, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6I wasn't aware Spitzer was electrocuting people?
- bigfatdummy, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6Not true. You must lose some rights and privileges when you are convicted of a felony. So what let Maddock serve 20 years and then allow him to go back into the world of finance? Child molesters should be allowed to work with children? Dirty cops should be allowed to work as policemen again? Doctors cutting out kidneys and selling them on the black market should be allowed to return to the medical field?
Come on, think before you comment. - AmazingA, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5A lucky season? I can see lucking up on a few plays, but this guy showed up EVERY play, and learned from each mistake he made. His performance was nothing short of phenomenal, especially considering this was a rookie carving up veteran defenses. He's only getting better, but you're right, this year will prove his greatness more than one year could.
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 06/12/2009, -2/+7...and nothing of value was lost.
- bstew22, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5no they aren't.
- JohnnyKinder, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6Its a good bet you will be in the basement for 5 more years, with or without Vick. You still have Davis running the show :(
- Smokeydabear, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5The other football club or PETA?
- thegamingguy, on 06/12/2009, -2/+6...and got nothing out of it.
- Drakk0n, on 06/12/2009, -2/+6Let him play in the UFL and come to Vegas!!! It would be huge to get a name like him on board to start the league and let him re-establish his game possibly.
- Ramenhood, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5Good riddance! Matt Ryan looks to suit all our quarterback needs. He's better as a rookie than Vick was in his prime. Falcons are going to the Superbowl this year!
- dmcbride, on 06/12/2009, -10/+14There's only a few things I can never forgive - abusing animals is one of them. I do think he deserves prison the rest of his life. Sorry.
- TexasShiv, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5No... he won't?
- ryansmith18, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4or a dog who has bears in his mouth with lasers on their heads so when he barks the cyborg bears come flying out.
- osteor10, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4Im actually kind of excited to see him play again just to see what kind of posters fans make. The dude is a terrible person and should be tortured like his dogs. but god damn do i love when people write down what they think on a poster in a catchy way.
- lewystud, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4kanye?
- SteveMTyler, on 06/12/2009, -2/+6All he has to do is pretend to be a born again christian. They are very gullible and more fanatical than PETA.
- zroy, on 06/13/2009, -0/+3I see no connection between playing football and abusing animals.
- grillaface, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3So true. The dog fighting wasn't even a big deal - it was the gambling ring. Many many NFL players are guilty of spousal abuse and no one cries about that. Shameful. I'm not condoning abuse of animals, just saying on the grand scheme of things there are bigger fish to fry. He was the victim of sensationalist media.
- YorickBrown, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4Raiders are a good bet. It was a shame losing him here in Atlanta. He was one of the best QBs in my opinion, the Vick rockets, his connection with his receivers, there's an absolute guarantee someone will bite the bullet and bring him back to the NFL.
- uptwolait, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4The Longest Yard.
- stevealford, on 06/13/2009, -0/+3As a hardcore Raiders fan in the Bay Area, I approve this message. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a hardcore Raiders fan who is white, the son of a biker, and works in tech. I love going to our bars... no matter what walk of life you're from, if you're wearing silver and black, you're family.
- Kriegg, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4Take it from an ATL native, good riddance. Matt Ryan is a better, more accurate, more professional QB than Vick ever was. FYI....his brother just arrested for ANOTHER DUI yesterday...WTF is it with these two?
