- CB810, on 11/10/2009, -1/+17 I think Miles Austin is a bit of a stretch, he has enjoyed 2 great games and only had one catch this last weekend, albeit the winning TD...
- tooldork, on 11/10/2009, -2/+13Cedric Benson if he can keep at current gait
- IgorUnchained, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6Definitely more of a "breakout player" than an MVP candidate in my opinion, as well.
- CB810, on 11/10/2009, -1/+5If he was consistent, he would be a top candidate.
- lichnor, on 11/11/2009, -1/+5The article stated Roethlisberger is one of the "media-man-love" candidates. I haven't seen/heard a single person utter MVP with in a 5 mile radius of him. He's just a "game manager" to the media.
And Romo? As a candidate? Is this guy serious? - PhiRi17, on 11/10/2009, -3/+6Where is Vincent Jackson on this??? The guy has 7TDs in 8 games and will only get better.
- cptcliche, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3Brandon Marshall's a very good receiver, sure, but this season is hardly MVP-worthy. He hasn't scored in 5/8 games, has only 4 games where he has over 50 yards, and has only 4 TDs on the year. A far more deserving receiver would be Vincent Jackson of SD. 42 catches, 722 yds and 7 TDs to Marshall's 44, 468, and 4.
- bobdigi, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3In Breesus We Trust
- F1R3DUP, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2uh, where the F is Desean Jackson???
- aosmitty, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3I think Troy Palamalu could have made the list. Otherwise I'm fine with it.
- jeffwmartin, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2FTA: "We offer, then, six non-QBs and RBs quietly making legitimate MVP noise."
- Divic, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2Its going to be a race for Defensive Player of the Year between Sharper and Allen, but I think Brees-ys got the MVP Locked up, unless Brady, Manning or All Day go Beastmode for the remainder of the year and just put up crazy numbers.
- dayv2005, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3Yeah i agree with @Igor.
He is definitely a great asset to the cowboys receiving line-up. He makes great plays and finishes them too. The guy is truly amazing.
But as a Cowboys fan, i'd say he is a long shot away from MVP. - fadetoone, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3That long shot becomes much better odds if the Cowboys win the super bowl. Unfortunately, that's a long shot in itself.
- An800lbGorilla, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Jairus Byrd is the only bright light in an otherwise abysmal Buffalo Bills team. That kid is going places.
- thegamingguy, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Well he does lead the league in rushing, YPC, and YPG. He wasn't getting nearly as many carries as he should have been because his awful team has had to play from behind most of the year. The last two games he has gotten a ton more carries which gave them two wins and him 4 td's. If they stay competitive, he may be in the hunt at year's end.
- jeffwmartin, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Ahh, misunderstood what you were saying.
- CB810, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I think that's true, but I don't think he's a "dark horse"...
- thegamingguy, on 11/10/2009, -2/+3Statistically Chris Johnson is having a monster season, but his team is so bad that it will cost him any consideration.
- IgorUnchained, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1But they began by naming the non dark horses and by naming the other QBs who would always be obvious.
- jshhmr, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Yes, Romo. Are YOU serious?
- Brooks007, on 11/11/2009, -2/+3Breesus will take it... praise Breesus.
- jshhmr, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1@CB810, not really a fair assessment considering he wasn't a starter. His 2 games are better than ANY player in the NFL. Just keep watching, and you will see why he deserves it.
- bobsworth, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Jared Allen is God
- OZnilla, on 11/14/2009, -0/+0Miles Austin? Hahahahaha
What a joke. The award is reserved for QB's and RB's. It's more about flash than actual substance. Defensive players get recognized but you wont see a line-backer or sefety win MVP honors for at least a decade, especially with Manning and Brady always in the mix. - IgorUnchained, on 11/11/2009, -3/+3That is actually a pretty good list. Even if I dont like the player listed, they have a reason to be mentioned and in the running.
That said....no Philip Rivers? If Drew Brees doesnt get the nod automatically, I cant think of a better nominee than Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers. What he can do with NO Oline and NO running game is amazing....and without him the Chargers wouldnt be in playoff contention. - somedudemanguy, on 11/11/2009, -3/+3It's Peyton's to lose. No one has done more with less.
- ervinTE8, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1Dustin Colquitt.
- bfeagan, on 11/11/2009, -2/+2Decent list, but no offensive lineman = buried. The QB and RB glory boys would be nothing without quality blocking.
- Ziriux, on 11/10/2009, -6/+3Brandon Marshall needs to be in there, yards after catch he's sick.
