- Calion654, on 10/10/2007, -7/+144Did Michigan really think they had a chance against the powerhouse that is Appalachian State?
- DannyAndNina, on 10/10/2007, -2/+79This marks the first time a ranked team has lost to a FCS (Div. 1-AA) team EVER in the history of college football.
- bflfab, on 10/10/2007, -4/+78Sure makes you question the accuracy / usefulness of pre-season rankings huh?
- JoJoMoMo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+78HUGE upset and a nail biter.
This is the stuff that makes college ball so exciting. - alphaterminus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+73I guess Miss Teen South Carolina, now a freshman at Appalachian State, inspired them to win.
- trunks13, on 10/10/2007, -7/+72Good for Appalachian St. I'm sick of football factory schools scheduling supposed cupcake teams in the beginning of the season just to pad their records.
- gianttoolbox11, on 10/10/2007, -15/+51(sarcasm) Couldn't have happened to a classier team with classier fans, Michigan really does not deserve this. (/sarcasm)
- Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -14/+49I'm always glad I'm not in Michigan
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -21/+56Suck it, Wolverines!
- l33tsauce, on 10/10/2007, -3/+38lol Physphd is on the Koolaid. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME A 1-AA SCHOOL BEAT A RANKED DIV-1A SCHOOL. And not just any rank 1A school, the #5 rank team in the country, IN THE BIG HOUSE for crying out loud. Hands down one of the biggest upset of all time.
- Cubsman44, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37Chad Henne and Mike Hart skip the NFL and come back for their senior season to win a national championship and that dream is over the first week of the season. The Lloyd Carr era is OVER
- mattmollysdad, on 10/10/2007, -15/+44***** Michigan... Go State
- Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25Rankings are a bunch of crap, anyway. They seem to heavily favor programs just because of their older traditions despite several years of mediocre play.
- jeffiscool, on 10/10/2007, -7/+30I'm so glad the Big 10 Network is available in every home in the Midwest to provide these great games to fans.
- nurall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24looks like they had enough maps to get in the endzone
- gothsquirrel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Nobody give small schools credit. Go Appy State. They have a good program just not the money and the name bigger schools have.
- klecu, on 10/10/2007, -5/+25Wow. I'm glad I'm not in Michigan right now.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26They lost to the "other" and lesser ASU? For shame!
Then again, they are HOT HOT HOT over at Appalachian. Psh, it's 105 here--who are they kidding? http://youtube.com/watch?v=pVENWl8uBeg - gerbalblaste, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20Here at ASU we uprooted one of the field goals from our football stadium and carried it to our chancellor's house. only reason there wasn't a full fledged riot is most of the campus is home for the long weekend.
Ain't it great to be a mountaineer. - Kodiak41226, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21The last 5 minutes of that game were some of the most exciting football I have ever seen. I can't wait to go to work tuesday and smear it in the face of a couple "over the top" Michigan fans.
I can't believe they blocked that second kick. - medieval33025, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Final 1:47 of the game.

- sinurgy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15more like *cough* Notre Dame *cough*
- TWillz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Surely I'm not the only ASU alum on Digg?! Wow, way to go Mountaineers!
- gerbalblaste, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13and we're proud to have her
- strafefire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Could it be that AP State is not a bad football team? Just a thought..
- sgtpppr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Nothing like tearing up your own property to show you're appreciation!
- pdxchris, on 10/10/2007, -11/+23Those cocky bastards deserved this loss!!! Every year for as long as I can remember Michigan plays these no name teams close and they luck out in the end and win. It is about time they finally lose!!!
- Charlatan22, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14awesome, this is the stuff that makes sports fun to watch
- Torpov, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Go Applalachian State! We kept on hearing the game updates throughout the Penn State game today and all hung around after to see the last few seconds of the Appy game. Never before have I heard such loud roaring for another team from our stadium. Kudos, Mountaineers.
- Harbinger67, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16Ann Arbor is a whore.
- nj2005, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12FYI: In Div I college football calling a team ranked is referring to a top 25 team. The two recognized ranking systems only rank the top 25 teams.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12*Cough* Florida State *cough*
- RapeApe, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15I hope they get knocked out the top 25. You cant lose to a D1AA team and still be a top 25 D1A team.
- archer104, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I hear they played her speech on the jumbotron the whole time. Psychological warfare has NO PLACE on the field!
- 0rion16, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Today couldn't have gone any better here in East Lansing. I love being a Spartan on days like today. From this point until I die I will cheer for App State.
Go Mountaineers!!! - Drewboy64, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13O-H!
- kedohmen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I-O!!!
- diggerydoo471, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15I'm a Michigan student and just got back from the game.
I know you think we're all douchbags that always expect to win here at Michigan, but really there aren't many students that care about football anymore and our numbers decrease every year. The rest, the students and alumni that buy tickets and sit on their hands at games, are the reason Michigan football sucks. They don't call it "The Library" instead of "The Big House" for nothing. The mentality of observing games rather than being a part of them is rampant here and the team picks up on it. I know it's not the whole reason we lost that game, but it sure didn't help.
Congratulations to Appalachian State, I'm going to get drunk. - imrambi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13They still have a shot at the Big Ten Championship. This was not a conference game. If Michigan can get their act together and get some defense to beat ALL Big Ten teams they face, and the one they don't loses a few times, they they can get the Big Ten Title. Having a National Championship game, is still not out of the question. Harder yes, impossible, no.
For a National Championship game, they will have to win all other games and also hope for other upsets. The season is still very young. Expect more upsets. - lkmbrd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Nope, '06.
- a6n28f, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Yup. 2 time defending champs. Not a gimme team by any means.
- tmgneuguy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I wish Comcast would fricken make a deal with the Big Ten Network.... it sure would have been nice to have been able to watch this game. It is kind of a fun/unique experience to listen to a game on the radio though.
- Wendigo6x3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10i think this was a sarcastic comment...because we DONT get to see this. i missed the entire OSU game and the UM upset...only if you have direct tv in my area do you get the b10 network. i have to wait a couple of weeks to watch the channel when im back down in columbus for classes...
- EPH99, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Coincidentally, UND is thanking their lucky stars that everyone will be talking about this game all week after their own season-beginning beatdown.
- MrKC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Woosh- You know what that sound is? It's Michigan throwing their national championship hopes in the toilet.
- Toast1185, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Agreed with above. It doesn't effect the Big Ten title shot at all, but it makes it real hard to get a national championship. We have the benefit of having the loss come early, but if Michigan can't beat Appalachian State, then there isn't a lot to hope for really....
- pooper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9A national championship is still possible... if they go undefeated and score 100 points a game and if all the other teams big teams somehow lost 2 games a piece.
- willdaddy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8'98 GO APPS!
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12You're joking me. I was at the Rose Bowl, Michigan against USC two years ago. The ***** from USC behind me had a litany of ***** chants and how his school was better than Michigan (mine).
Oh, and the topper, he didn't even go to USC. It was his adopted team. -
