The paper is an fMRI study of the brain's reaction to a specific stimulus, not an overview of alcohol's relaxing effects. It has been long known and widely disseminated that alcohol's primary effects are due to a nonspecific affinity for the GABA receptors in the brain. New Scientist is already a tabloid, let's keep the level of discourse a little higher than distorting its claims.

When Red Bull first became popular and I brought it with my lunch I was dragged to detention for bringing alcohol to school. Didn't let me go until the teacher finally let me speak so I could point out it was an energy drink haahahhaha

    Regardless the stuff tastes like moose piss. MUCH better energy drinks out there nowadays, I personally like Amped myself.
