- Henley24, on 10/23/2009, -1/+39"whiskey implies to a woman that you’ve got the hootspa to hammer down a door"
Hootspa? "Chutzpah" you Yiddish-illiterate fool. - alHiboux, on 10/22/2009, -1/+37Tequila says you will get completely drunk, and probably loose your pants at some point while proclaiming an end to the repression and tyranny of trousers
- Thuktun, on 10/23/2009, -2/+25Where's the Rum & Coke?
- gwaggy12, on 10/23/2009, -1/+20This article is pretty lame. That woman standing over your shoulder is not checking out you or your drink. She's probably just trying to fight her way to the bar so she can get one of her own. Be a gentleman and get the bartender's attention for her.
- drzaeus, on 10/23/2009, -1/+18"...thick-skinned tradition telling of Davey Croquet and other fur-pelted heroes."
Croquet? - namslam, on 10/22/2009, -3/+20ah i see, so the GODFATHER is what it takes to have girls take their pants off.............
- diggopolous, on 10/23/2009, -1/+16This article is written for the same sissies that think the magazine Maxim is hip.
- Stavrosian, on 10/23/2009, -1/+16Yep. All your cocktail says about you is: "this guy thinks this drink tastes nice."
- digitalArtform, on 10/23/2009, -2/+15Creme de Menthe and Hawaiian Punch. Shaken. Not stirred. Served with a pink Corvette Hot Wheels.
- Sirocco, on 10/23/2009, -1/+13My White Russians say I'm channeling The Dude.
- robwhite1979, on 10/22/2009, -2/+13I'll stick with my vodka 7s and shots of JD.
- cecilpl, on 10/23/2009, -0/+11That's not a martini. This is a martini, and it's damn tasty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dry_Martini-2.jp ...
There are two kinds of martini: shaken and stirred. The ingredients are non-negotiable.
If you want an apple-tini, awesome. Just please have the decency not to call it a martini. - Akairenn, on 10/23/2009, -0/+10Plus if you add a lime, it helps prevent scurvy.
- zip000, on 10/23/2009, -0/+9To be honest, I've never thought of mixing scotch with anything. Neat for me, please.
- TrevorBelmont, on 10/23/2009, -1/+9I was thinking that this article was nonsense when I hit the part about Mojitos.
"In fact, this would give off an impression of relaxed exoticism (i.e. confident and intriguingly adventurous)"
What is confident and adventurous about drinking the number one drink of choice of trendy douche bags everywhere? If this article was written ten years ago they might have had a point. Next they'll tell me to prove I'm a true individual by drinking an Apple-tini. - inactive, on 10/23/2009, -2/+10Switch scotch for cognac with amaretto and you've got a French Connection, a tolerable drink in my book.
My cocktail of choice is scotch straight up, the lack of ice tells everybody that I'm an alcoholic but since it's scotch I'm smug about it. If I ran out of money I'd be content sucking on a bottle of isopropano. But for the time being I'm still holding my balance on the tight rope between an employed smug alcoholic and a destitute hobo spending his entire squeegee earnings on MD 20/20. - Asrrin29, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8My drink says I'm over 21, like liquor, and could give a damn about what other people think about what I like to drink. everything from a shot of JD to a fruity tropical daiquiri, if it tastes good, I'll drink it.
- cawpin, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8Scotch should never be mixed with anything. It is a disgrace to the Scotch.
- gwaggy12, on 10/23/2009, -2/+9best drink there is. It's not fruity, but it tastes sweet.
- foxtrot3, on 10/23/2009, -1/+8Scotch & amaretto ??? Never tried it, probably never will. Just doesn't sound right.
Now scotch & Drambuie (a Rusty Nail), now there's a real drink. - chadsexingtime, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6rye & ginger.
Try it. - zip000, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6Martini on the rocks just sounds wrong to me.
Also, a gin and tonic doesn't come with seltzer water, it comes with TONIC water. That's kinda in the name. Tonic is bubbly, sweetened, and has quinine. Seltzer is just bubbly I think. - WhiskeyLemur, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6College student; broke.
- clyentnine, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6"I would like to observe the vermouth from across the room while I drink my martini."
-- Winston Churchill - gvoakes, on 10/23/2009, -2/+7Gin n Tonic has been my drink of choice since the ripe old age of 18. God bless Canada's legal drinking ages.
- inactive, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6Straight scotch is an honest drink, these other pussies are just hiding the poison. Scotch has never told me a lie, whereas Long Islands are like my ex from college. That deceptive cheating whore...
- Hockey37, on 10/23/2009, -0/+57-up is a great mix, not as sweet as Sprite, not as heavy as Coke/Pepsi. Crown and 7 is liquid gold.
- cecilpl, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Wait, what? Martini on the rocks?
You mean, like, with ice *in* the drink? Why not just pour a bunch of water in your gin? - shifty50fs, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Dugg for smug.
- V3n0M, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Sailor Jerry FTW!!!
- boardthis, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5shipoopi!
- krc1, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5>Crown and 7 is liquid gold.<
Thank you.
I've shocked (and switched) 30+ people over the years to Crown and 7. It's not easy to convince some people that Seagram 7 isn't "just cheaper Crown." Once you try it, you'll never go back. - Coffeedemon, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Gin and Tonic is as good as it gets. Although there is nothing wrong with a Mojito or just some Wild Turkey on some ice (wish I had stocked up on the 100 proof version).
- roddack, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Hell Yeah Sailor Jerry!!!!!!!
- WhiskeyLemur, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4It has something to do with hedgehogs and flamingos, if memory serves, but I'm not sure how American folk legends fit into it =/
- Takfam, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4"Get your camera ready, there's going to be a show later."
- c3rb85, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Dugg
This article and others like it are like a high schools guide to attempting to look cool which gets you no where. I'll stick to drinking what suits my palate - seagrams7, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3really, I will have to try it.
- cecilpl, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Shaking isn't *necessarily* wrong. It lends a different character to the drink (cloudy at first, more diluted, some say colder), but the nature of the taste difference seems to vary person-to-person. I prefer it stirred and out of the ice ASAP, but I can't really fault someone who thinks it tastes better shaken. And let's be honest, I probably couldn't tell the difference if I was blindfolded.
If you use vodka, it's a "vodka martini". But then you lose the whole point of drinking a martini, which the awesome flavour of a good gin. :) - nesagwa, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3You have to be careful with martinis. Anything can be a martini nowadays. A lot of places use vodka, which is wrong. Shaking is wrong. It's a simple drink that gets screwed up easily.
- seagrams7, on 10/23/2009, -0/+37 and diet 7up very yummy. I am always surprise when I come across another guy or girl drinking it.
- kevinmoore, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Vodka has flavor? Unless you're drinking a flavored vodka, I hope it tastes like nothing.
- GnralHavoc, on 10/23/2009, -1/+4What does an Irish car bomb say?
- macslut, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Why anyone would even think of putting Amaretto in the same bar that serves real scotch is beyond me.
ProTip: Johnny Walker Green label = damn fine scotch for the price. - Coffeedemon, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3I don't think I've read a more pretentious load of ***** in weeks. This person is more concerned with how their drink looks than how it tastes. If someone is judging you on what you happen to be drinking the lights are either too bright in the bar or they're a judgemental *****... maybe both.
- plainOldFool, on 10/23/2009, -0/+37 and 7s are definitely my drink of choice followed closely by Jamison and Ginger.
- SilentSpyder, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3White Russian!
- manicleek, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3It's not a cocktail, but a straight up Scottish single malt is all you need.
if you have to ruin it with ice, you shouldn't be drinking it in the first place - badqat, on 10/23/2009, -1/+4Mmm...piney freshness!
Nah, I digg some gin 'n tonic. Just not very often. -
