- pokedex, on 03/24/2009, -0/+11I can personally attest to this. The lines are insane. I love how the founders basically quit "obvious," cushy jobs to start up a taco truck...gotta appreciate that spirit.
- REBECCAFRIEDMAN, on 03/24/2009, -1/+10I love that people in LA are waiting on the sidewalk for 90 minutes to have a $2 taco, and in the process rediscovering the fun of not being in their cars.
- amabaie, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7Brings new meaining to "meals on wheels"
- inactive, on 09/13/2009, -0/+5Food tweets always drive me nuts especially when I have no food in the house.
- LEGarvin, on 03/24/2009, -0/+4Gone are the days of the cheesy ice cream truck music.. That is funny though
- inactive, on 09/13/2009, -0/+4I still have one of those ice cream trucks coming through my neighborhood.
- rodon, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3I've seen interest in Kogi pretty much explode in the past couple months. Twitter is turning out to be a really great promotion tool for them.
- spoon088, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Yeah it's basically a place for hipsters to circle jerk, kind of like Digg is where angry white nerds circlejerk.
- capachino, on 03/24/2009, -1/+4these guys will spam you relentlessly ... don't fall for it
- Dr3w, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3Kogi is amazing! A couple weeks back it was basically a block party around one of the trucks.
- mandarin, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3I think that is the point of having a twitter account...
- cadmiumpaint, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Standing in an insane line for a gourmet taco truck on a street corner in the middle of the night is so dirty hipster ironic.
- grenz, on 03/24/2009, -1/+3Kogi is totally worth the wait, it is incredible. Also their ability to market through twitter has been nothing less than genius. A great model on how to generate buzz for something
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Yeah man. One almost wants to wait in line and not actually order anything when its your turn to order.
- xixphz, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1roachcoach!!!
- capachino, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1yes ... but there's also the point of being annoying ... i remember when they were first starting they'd hound you for your email, or cell # (this is when people would be a bit tipsy after a club and generally more friendly) ... and then send spam all friggin day ... this is actually a nice story because they found twitter which works out better for everyone involved ... but they sure like to turn the volume up
- c0nf0und, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1No, I think that's pretty close to the original meaning of "meals on wheels".
I would wait to pull that one out until a restaurant begins serving meals on radio controlled cars, on old tires, or makes cars out of food. - mydingaling, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Brings new spelling to 'meaning'
- nochilinopity, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Chicagoans: check out @tamaletracker to find the infamous tamale guy who roams buck town area bars with his cooler filled with delicious home made tamales
- evergrim, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Enjoy your fad, trendboy.
- ihrtchoclate, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1wow. korean AND mexican? my two favorite!
- evergrim, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Sounds like inspiration for a South Park episode about Twitter.
- mandarin, on 03/24/2009, -1/+1Thats a great idea
- Aooogah, on 03/24/2009, -1/+1I go to Kogi's Verde truck every Tuesday when it stops at SMC. Really delicious kaibi tacos! :)
- synergyo1, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1Heh. Strong words from someone that didn't seem to look beyond the Digg page. The NPR article linked has linked Kogi's website several times http://kogibbq.com . In addition, the Kogi's twitter page contains the linked to their main website.
One of the many points of Kogi's twitter page is to engage with their customers, for instance give them a heads up where they will be serving. It seems their client base do know what twitter is. But I'm sure they'll point towards their main website for clients who have no clue what twitter is.
If you read the article you would know all of this. - inactive, on 03/24/2009, -1/+1Huh? Why doesn't the guy just get his own domain? You're exposure is so much greater and you don't have to explain what twitter is to customers who have no idea what the ***** you're talking about.
"You have a web site?", Customer
"Yes, but its located in Russia", Owner
"But I can still access it from home", Customer
"Actually no, you have to travel or live in Russia to bring it up", Owner
"Uhhhmmmm ok", Customer
Twitter: For people too dumb to figure out Front Page Express 1.0 - Aooogah, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1I don't care if it's a fad or not. All that matters to me is that the food is good.
Besides there's no line at SMC, that's why I go there. - dieboldcracy, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1you sir, are an idiot
- grachececilio, on 07/09/2009, -0/+0I love Kogi and their awesome social media strategy. Learn more about it here:
http://digg.com/d1p3iF - ShoggothDreams, on 03/24/2009, -1/+1I am surprised to only now hear about Kogi on Digg... I have been seeing it all over the Blogs for months now. Oh well, I can always catch the Digg recap in a few days on Reddit.... (unless it's tabloid crap, then it's on Reddit first... gotta give them credit where credit is due...)
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -1/+0looking for an opportunity
