- merlin484, on 01/22/2009, -1/+33What do you call a French supermodel with a yeast infection?
A quarter pounder with cheese. - RonnieW, on 01/22/2009, -1/+21Because of the metric system?

- cloudberries, on 01/22/2009, -0/+14Can I interest you in some of this amazing, magical Belgian cheese?
- IrishSmile, on 01/22/2009, -2/+15Ooh that woman has at least 10,000 people suing her, read in the article. What a slime bag she is, preying on the poor and uninformed.
- carlosoliva, on 01/22/2009, -0/+13This is somewhat old. It happened about three years ago, I'm surprised to see it as news as of now.
However this was in fact a very elaborate scam. It's not that 'Madame Gil' (as she got known) sold the 'magic cheese' pieces for about 100x their actual price. She created a legal company and promised payments to those willing to buy the cheese and 'grow' them. So, say the first time you buy $10 in 'magic cheese', follow the instructions and then sell it back for about $40. The second time, as the first one was successful, you buy $50 and get back $200. So the scammer waited about two years, when people were willing to invest high sums of money on buying the cheese hoping to get about 5x what they invested (based on their previous experiences) to make the con.
Just a disclaimer: I wasn't a victim of this scam! - borez, on 01/22/2009, -0/+11MAGIC CHEESE
That's gotta be a new meme... I haven't seen a better candidate for months. - BingoPower, on 01/22/2009, -4/+14I'm sorry but if you pay that kind of cash for something called "Magic Cheese" you deserve to kill yourself and ***** the body.
- thixotropic, on 01/22/2009, -0/+10I would say she was preying on people blinded by greed. that or people with more money then brains.
- h4mx0r, on 01/22/2009, -0/+8The Cheese Stands Alone.

- ZeroDarkness, on 01/22/2009, -2/+7Dug for not being about "stupid Americans" for a change. About damn time someone else shares the title.
- Andrwmorph, on 01/22/2009, -0/+5People stupid enough to try to buy and sell magic cheese...

4/ get sued by 5,000 Peruvians and 4,500 Chileans! - dandonia, on 01/22/2009, -2/+6I read that as, Never trust Magic, the French or Cheese. lol.
- zip000, on 01/22/2009, -1/+4I've got some magic tortilla kits if anyone wants to buy them!
- nowhereelse, on 01/22/2009, -1/+4"Just a disclaimer: I wasn't a victim of this scam!"

- quomen, on 01/22/2009, -2/+4But can we eat cheesecloth Mr. Kevin Rose?
- benzzene, on 01/22/2009, -1/+3Aren't Chileans and Peruvians Americans?
- smokinDND, on 01/22/2009, -1/+3this article is misleading to imply ppl actually thought they where buying or making "magic cheese" which is a lie.. the prosecutor called it: FTA
'We call it the “case of the magic cheese”,' said Isabelle Montagne, a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office.
i live in chile and it was never mentioned or sold as magic cheese. yes ppl get scamed everywhere and basicly every scam involves desperate un-informed people trying to make quick easy money, but i feel insulted when people think chileans were actually fooled into buying magic cheese which is not the case. it was sold as:
FTA: cheese in high demand in France for use in fancy moisturisers and shampoos, and sold the kits – which had an actual value of about £2.80 – for €300 (£280). note they used magic cheese in quotes cus the prosecutor said it. and its not a fact from what scam was about.
basicly people would buy the kit make the cheese at home then someone would buy them for a good price to export it to france. - Hedragon, on 01/22/2009, -2/+4You can't not trust Cheese! Come on, it's Cheese, the second best thing after Bacon...
- ZeroDarkness, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2yeah, that hit me a few minutes after I posted it. Teaches me to digg while sleepy. I just didn't care enough to change it. The whole mentality that the only Americans are from the US and that others can't use the term... I blame it on brainwashing.
- Paddrino, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1The title is the best. I'm going to the grocer right now! I'll take 5lbs of magic cheese please.
- misterparry, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1what a cheesy article
- evildeadguy, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1I can just imagine the new crop of spam we will have to deal with.
- Exekutor, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1FTA: "Gilberte Van Erpe told buyers that the fermented end-product of her kits could be sold for large amounts of money to French cosmetics companies"
The case has been labeled that way. People didn't think that the cheese had actual "magic" properties, they just wanted to make easy money. - alexhouse, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1"...who may have netted up to €30million (£28million) from the scam."
I appreciate your (parenthetical currency conversions) but unfortunately they mean nothing to me :( - Stupidumb, on 01/22/2009, -1/+2I don't have time to read article. Where can I get cheese from?
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Wow, all these comments and not one "cut the magic cheese" joke? What a let down.
http://www.stupidprize.com/Magic-Cheese - inactive, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Dugg for "Magic cheese is not magic" caption.
- dvpower, on 01/22/2009, -3/+4FTA: "as many as 5,000 Peruvians and 4,500 Chileans have filed lawsuits".
My maths has that as <=9500, not >= 10000 - bansuri93, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Dugg for Magic Cheese.
- OwdenBowden, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Yeah right. And where are we supposed to find this "Magic Cheese" - in the Land of Chocolate?
- nepidae, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1If they are poor how did they invest?
If they are uninformed why did they invest?
I don't think these kind of scams are good however the people who fall for them are just as guilty of greed and should be punished as well. - Cheesepuffly, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1Yeah i kinda bought some...
