- Jasper710, on 06/16/2008, -4/+10Trader Joe's has a really good bottle that's cheap as dirt but has one more awards than the blood of christ
- DreKor, on 06/16/2008, -0/+5It's really too bad that the Two Buck Chuck now costs over $3.
- Gurette, on 06/16/2008, -0/+4It depends on your region. It's $3 on the East Coast, but it's still $2 in the Midwest.
- Crosshare, on 06/16/2008, -0/+6At least the guy above me was kind enough to post the actual wine so we could know.
- lafan313, on 06/16/2008, -0/+6It's actually called Charles Shaw but also goes by the TBC nickname. Great wine for the price. Have yet to find an under $20 supermarket wine that beats it.
- DreKor, on 06/16/2008, -0/+5It's really too bad that the Two Buck Chuck now costs over $3.
- LukeBeaumont, on 06/16/2008, -6/+4Stuff that. Just go goon, $8 for 4L, you can't lose!
- nobodaddy, on 06/16/2008, -5/+2I've had some good luck with inexpensive wine at Whole Foods. I know that seems nearly impossible, but they must have a pretty good wine vetting process. They've got a lot of expensive wines on the shelf, but I've generally found that if they are recommending a wine for $10, it's usually pretty good.
- swrostmore, on 06/16/2008, -3/+6Any wine with a Ralph Steadman illustration on the label is obviously the finest.
- gizlau, on 06/16/2008, -3/+7lol,
"Avoid bottles with the words “house” or “table” on them. These wines should never enter your house or be on your table." - BoonTobias, on 06/16/2008, -8/+3***** wine

- SmellyFingers, on 06/16/2008, -7/+2Balls in the ass, dick in the pussy. Mmhmm. I'm going to try this when I get home!
- borez, on 06/16/2008, -0/+5You can get some very nice 'vin de table' or every day grocers wines, so I don't go with your comment about no bottles with "Table" on the label at all.
Also, you'll kinda know that any Grand Cru Classé wine ( the best class you can buy ) is not for you if you're on a budget because it'll be around $200 and upwards a bottle. - nsummy, on 06/16/2008, -0/+4I have a better idea. subscibe to wine spectator online. Find bottles that are rated 87-91 for under $20. Go to the grocery store and buy said bottles. Or you could just buy a bottle of Colombia Crest. They make the best cheap wine available.
- coldfirenj, on 06/16/2008, -0/+6Let me save you some time if you are looking for a great quality cheap wine.. Little Penguin. For around $7 a bottle if can't be beat. Hell I got off work a few hours ago and I'm drunk off it right now.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Does the bottle run Linux?
- digitallysick, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1sudo wine
- thomashowell, on 06/16/2008, -0/+5three words that come to mind! Three Buck Chuck!
- nobodaddy, on 06/16/2008, -0/+4Three Buck Chuck - sure it's cheap, but not very good. Do you really like drinking it?
- lukemit, on 06/17/2008, -0/+2They must have jacked up the price on the East Coast. Back in Wisconsin in was Two Buck Chuck.
- franklymister, on 06/16/2008, -0/+7A friend of mine has a very fun party that she throws once a year - the $8 Wine Party.
Everyone brings a bottle of wine, the rules being that no bottle can cost over $8. She disguises all the bottles with giftwrap, and puts a number on each one. Everyone tries the different wines, and keeps score on little cards. At the end of the night, whoever's wine got the most points wins whatever weird prize she's chosen for that year.
It's lots of fun, and I generally find a couple new great cheap wines each time. (Yes, someone brings Boone's Farm at least once every time, too.)
My favorite of all time (so far) has been Trader Joe's Il Valore Primitivo. - smrekar, on 06/16/2008, -0/+6Smoking Loon?
- jaybol, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3peachy canyon zinfandel $9
- lobo2305, on 06/16/2008, -0/+0My favorite cheap, mass market grocery store type wine is Red Diamond, specifically their Merlot, but most of their varieties are pretty good on the cheap. Regularly priced around $11, but often on sale for less than $10.
- hocusposus, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1no mention of MD 20/20. noobs.
- kateyall, on 06/17/2008, -1/+2This article was really not very helpful. However, dugg, for being about cheap wine. Barefoot wine is cheap ($5.99ish) and not terrible. There's my tip.
- aflaks, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1never had a bad merlot. not even one for 3 pounds
- cnot3, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Bogle Petite Sirah is pretty good for $9. I prefer it to Little Penguin or Black Swan, but there are plenty of other good wines for under $10.
- kingjafee, on 06/17/2008, -1/+2I prefer scotch myself...
Scotchity, scotch, scotch....
And the guy above me said it already...
IF YOU DONT KNOW SMOKING LOON YOU'RE TOO RICH FOR MY BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT - sinisa10, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Liar's dice. Awesome wine
- upagaintwall, on 06/17/2008, -1/+1Thunderbird And Boones Farm FTW!!!
- randomerratum, on 06/17/2008, -0/+4"I'm not drinking any F***ng merlot!"
There is actually a cut scene from the movie that explains why he doesn't drink merlot, it's not because it's bad - it's because that's what his ex-wife loved to drink... unfortunately, the public misunderstood and now the merlot industry is having a heap of trouble selling wine because of that single line!
However, merlot is quite a bit cheaper now because of it. :) - wesniles, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1So please pass me the Reunite on ice
- greeneyedmama, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1You can spend $12 and get a great bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. They are good if you like citrusy whites. I have yet to have a bad one from the Kiwis. Thanks guys! :)
- rye425, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1@ Trader Joe's - Charles Shaw wine cant go wrong $4 merlot & shiraz, tasty stuff
- lukemit, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1During the next Tour de France, my buddies and I are planning on holding a "Tour de Franzia" party. Only boxed wines allowed.
- chaddles, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1There's a glut of wine available thanks to expanding markets, and good wine is often cheap. Because we all have different tastes, the best way to find a good wine you'll enjoy is to taste some, imo. Go on wine tastings if you get a chance, or find a bottle-shop that does tastings.
- Newportbeachguy, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Not cheap, but anyone looking for a good zin, try 7 deadly zins
- Prototek, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Nothing ultimate about this guide. It's about a step above digg comments.
- BaseballGuyCAA, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Name: Chateau Walmart
Goes well with: Food
They should've said "Goes well with: Nothing, really." - kaytee12364, on 06/17/2008, -0/+0so this might have been mildly helpful to someone who doesn't like to think for himself. i wouldn't exactly describe it as ultimate.
honestly, i generally go by the graphic on the label and how much i like the name. i feel like if creative people made it, it's probably good. it typically doesn't steer me wrong, and i've actually had a few friends pick this up from me as well.
if you want to get specific, i recommend gnarly head, it's like 7 or 8 bucks and delicious. - soniyashrma, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1three words that come to mind
