- evildeadguy, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7Whats the word? Thunderbird!
Whats the price? 50 twice! - Biks, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7You've definitely become a full-bore ADULT when you've bought a wine rack.
I own a wine rack. :-( - BlueSunshine, on 04/12/2008, -3/+9I could have really used this article when I was in college.
- iamdan1, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6Carlo, a college students best friend
- exomni, on 04/12/2008, -0/+5I had a wine rack in my first college dorm room, before I could /legally/ drink.
I had been drinking since 17. Hooray for growing up abroad. - albinorhino101, on 04/12/2008, -3/+8No Yellow Tail???
- simpletwist, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4It's three buck chuk now, friend. At least, it is in NYC.
- Dtopler, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5Because Yellow Tail is garbage.
- colinmhayes, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4I wish I could digg you up more.
- sofaKing812, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4I'll stick with my boxed wine.
- Bolko, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5Buried for not including Prison wine.
- chanop, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4I'm not your friend, guy
- dafragsta, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3Tonight, we are serving an Ocean Spray Cran-Grape Noir bottled... bagged in the reserve tank in early 2008.
- exomni, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3You know, in many modern european cultures a lot of families will have wine with every dinner. Don't think they're spending $20 a bottle on it, because they're not, yet they have a greater appreciation for wine than the people who have some $30 bottle on a special occasion.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Any of them Gary V approved?
- smoothlou, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3You mean Pruno? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pruno
Good stuff. Eyesight is overrated anyway. - laconica007, on 04/12/2008, -4/+7what about the two buck chuck at Trader Joes? i love that.
- albinorhino101, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3of course not, everyone knows Thunderbird is so much better.
- topgun553, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Boones Farm
:) - DemDude, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3Wine. Legal from age 16 in germany (just like beer). And at 20, I do own a winerack, currently filled with californian 05 cabernet sauvignon, south african 06 grenache, and lots of portugese 06 rosé (forgot which grape). Also, I am far from adult ;-)
So come on, you don't have to be boring to enjoy a good wine! Wine is tasty and should be fun! - CoronaVegas, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3Robert Mondavi Zinfandel (red) & a Ribeye from a charcoal grill, now that's a dinner!
- OrangeTide, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3There are plenty of >$30 wines that are crap too. Buyer beware.
- bdbr, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3I spent much of my early adulthood thinking I hated wine. Turns out, I just hate wine in boxes. My parents used to buy some really awful stuff just because it was cheap. There may be some bargains out there, but it won't be the high-volume stuff.
- crapmatic, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3This 39-year old says "dugg".
- Thumper13, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2My favorites under $10 are Gato Negro, and Chateau Ste. Michelle Reisling.
Barefoot Bubbly is a great Champagne under $10 also.
Gotta love the cheap stuff. There isn't much difference in taste until you get to wines over $30 a bottle in my opinion. But that difference is pretty big. I just can't afford drink that stuff too often. - OrangeTide, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2It's 3 bucks for many people. (I still only pay two for it!)
- ProjectGSX, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2Bonny Doon Big House Red, IMO.
- slackerxpc, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2foxhorn, livingston, carlo rossie
- serpentor, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2Blasted 1-liquor license statewide NY regulations, it's a no go for Brooklyn/Queens/LI Trader Joes.. You lucky Manhattanites and your 3-buck chuck, you guys get everything cheap! :(
/sarcasm :) - joshikus, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2rossilini!
- pixeldust, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3I'm a fan of releax riesling myself, some places have it for $10
- worldinmyeyes, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2I think Smoking Loon (when aired out a bit) - Merlot, Cab, and Shiraz, is very drinkable.
- dafragsta, on 04/12/2008, -2/+4Actually, it's recommended to have a glass of wine a day because of the anti-oxidants and it releases tension. I don't drink wine very often, but it's almost always been a good experience. I bet you haven't drank wine many times at all. It also goes better with food, so if you just had some bad wine at a party or whatever, you shouldn't write it off unless you are just a prude about alcohol.
- EdwardsNH, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2Like crapmatic, I'm old enough to get a chuckle at that comment. Man, digg can make me feel old sometimes ;-)
- unique172, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2I recently had a conversation about that wine with a friend who used to be in the wine business. She said they go around collecting surplus wine from vineyards around the country, so you can get anything from trash to $$$ wine from Two Buck Chuck - it's just the luck of the draw.
I can attest to that - sometimes their reds are undrinkable, but a few days ago I had one (same label on the bottle) that was absolutely fantastic. - dougfir, on 04/12/2008, -0/+22 bucks in California...
- f3n1x, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2i bet i can get wines for the the same price that are at least thrice as good.
it's good to own a house in a wine making region.
it's even better the know the known-to-be-the-best winemakers there. :) - metaliq, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3You are pretty dumb.
- alexforcefive, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2This is a pretty handy list for me. I don't drink wine, but I just discovered cooking with it! Mmmmmmm
- geojams, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2It's still two buck chuck at the Trader Joe's in Orange County, CA. Btw, at $4 the Panilonco Carmenere is a great wine. Just be sure to buy it by the case as they always seem to be out of stock lately.
- mrblogadise, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2We need the top ten Shiraz and Merlot under $10.00 lists. Screw white wine, and that blush crap too.
Aussie (or Chilean) is always a better bet(value) than any inexpensive European red wine imo. Lindenmans and Rosemount FTW. - dusanmal, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2Do try:
McWilliams Hanwood Estate Chardonnay (Australia). I found it in stores from NY to NM at about 7-9$. Nice crisp and mellow Chardonnay.
"Belle Jour" French red table wine. Yes, minimalistic name and price: 4-5$ A bit harder to find but every store
I asked was able to order it. Beaujolais-like, better than most "Beaujolais"-tagged wines. - larsalan, on 04/12/2008, -2/+4where is carlo rossi?
- lordno, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2Barefoot white zin is good too. Especially when women come over
- pedropt, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Try the Porca de Murça. Incredible wine for its price.
- bigoak, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Great list of wines and you can find more cheap wines: http://www.toptenz.net/top-ten-wines-under-ten-dol ...
- AmazingToaster, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1It's three bucks here in the Midwest, as there is extra cost in transporting it and going through necessary distributorship out here.
- eightyk88, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1about 30 min away from where i live theres a winery on Seneca lake called Haslett they make Red Cat(red wine) and White cat(white wine) and a chardenai its probably an out 15$ but if you 21 you should look for it is great.
- josepablos, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2what about wine in a BOX!!.
