- wolfing, on 05/29/2009, -1/+48My liquor cabinet consists of the beer that doesn't fit in the fridge
- ZestyNinja, on 05/29/2009, -2/+45Dugg because I'm an alcoholic.
- donte, on 05/29/2009, -1/+38That was a hell of a lot of words for almost no actual advice.
- kraytwin2001, on 05/29/2009, -1/+33Last time I drank that I fell down a flight of stairs. Good times.
- Narcism, on 05/29/2009, -0/+17Stupid article. Tell me I'm not the only one you calculates for the highest alcohol to price ratio. Now THAT'S recession thinking.
- illspaz, on 05/29/2009, -0/+16remember to take the Babes out of the cabinet once in a while. unlike men, they cannot subsist on bourbon and beer alone
- bob1029, on 05/29/2009, -0/+15Last time I drank that I had a completely responsible and reasonable night of fun activities and awoke the next morning with no hangover or guilt.
Just kidding, I got smashed playing beerpong with everclear and water, pissed on a flight of stairs and broke atleast 4 appliances. - mbfielding, on 05/29/2009, -6/+21If you're thinking about drinking, then the answers crystal clear: It's the invisible intoxicant, it's called Everclear.
- uptwolait, on 05/29/2009, -0/+14Last time I drank that I...uh, I'm really not sure what happened. Good times, they tell me.
- coltrane68, on 05/29/2009, -1/+15These are some really good suggestions. Consumers do overpay for liquors used primarily for mixing, which makes no sense at all. The only reason to get very high end stuff (single malt Scotch, decent eaux de vie or Cognacs, small batch bourbon, aƱejo Tequila) is to consume it neat.
- Kardde, on 05/29/2009, -9/+23Most pretentious article I've read in a longtime.
Hint of aged oak? Aged pink peppercorns? Brown-sugar notes?
Booze is booze. Just ***** drink it. - diggopolous, on 05/29/2009, -0/+14Sounds like the author has a sweettooth as most of his preferences and mixers align with the sweetness factor. He criticizes others
tendencies to go with what they're used to from their younger drinking days but still hasn't escaped the teenage rookies tendency to go for the sugary crap albeit with a more sophisticated twist. - Wag3Slav3, on 05/29/2009, -0/+14So his whole liquor cabinet is a bottle of gin, a bottle of tequila and a bottle of rum? Yeah, you need a cabinet for that.
You need those, a bottle of kalua, a bottle of house vodka, a premium vodka, a bottle of some form of apple stuff, a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of top shelf whiskey. several fruity flavored liquors (pretty much doesn't matter what) some irish cream, a white rum, a dark rum and a coconut rum. Some vermuth, olives, pickles, coke, diet coke, oj, gj, tj, some kinda cranberry crap, pepper, salt and ice.
You should be able to stock a pretty complete liquor cabinet for < $200. - inactive, on 05/29/2009, -3/+15This article sucks. If you're going to have a liquor cabinet and make cocktails $10 is fine for a bottle. You can't tell the difference in quality of liquor in a cocktail 70% of the time.
That's why cocktails gained prominence during prohibition, the liquor tasted like *****.
you can't tell the difference, a Manhattan made with early times vs. makers mark tastes the same.
There are limits though, Keslers ruins any drink. - JABro, on 05/29/2009, -1/+13What do you think a Rye is? The Rittenhouse 80 is certainly a whiskey.
- diggopolous, on 05/29/2009, -0/+12No it's not.
- uptwolait, on 05/29/2009, -1/+12Real alcoholics don't spend $20 on a fifth of anything.
- MacBandit, on 05/29/2009, -0/+8His choices suck!
- NYCTulanian, on 05/29/2009, -1/+9now there's more than one of them?
- JAVandiver, on 05/29/2009, -1/+8If you ever see any one mixing top shelf whiskey with anything but water smack them and throw their ass out!
- inactive, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7heroin snob
- badenglishihave, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7Oh crap... thanks for tip, I was wondering what those muffled screams were all about.
- clutchdude, on 05/29/2009, -2/+9One word...Beer.
- RumpleForeskin3, on 05/29/2009, -1/+8Wow, for 19 you have GREAT taste in beer....
/s - strictnein, on 05/29/2009, -1/+8AmberBock? I'm glad our laws don't allow you to buy beer.
Seriously, in any decent liquor store there are 10-20 better Bock beers, many from small, locally owned breweries. When you hit the magical age, go in and try something with a little more flavor. - borez, on 05/29/2009, -0/+6Bacon Vodka
http://bakonvodka.com/ - badenglishihave, on 05/29/2009, -5/+11Real men only stock the three B's:
Bourbon, Beer and Babes - JAVandiver, on 05/29/2009, -2/+8I'm not an alcoholic, they go to meetings. I am just a lush.
- wesleyzero, on 05/29/2009, -1/+7Kahlua. Vodka. Half & Half. Abide.
- tghd, on 05/29/2009, -0/+6I stopped at Sauza. Absolute *****, its popular in Mexico because it's cheap. Like mentioned before Ojo Azul or my personal favorite Cazadores Reposado are way better options.
- zosoleary, on 05/29/2009, -1/+6my thoughts exactly. the only reason i buy top shelf is for jamesons on the rocks or patron dressed
- MacBandit, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5Okay their choices suck!
- benderillo, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5I'm not drunk, just tired from drinking all day.
- zzzpoohzzz, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5so you cant keep liquor around... but you like to keep beer stocked?
gtfo and stfu - CaviMike, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5That's only 150 proof.
- MWeather, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Wild Turkey American Honey is a Liqueur, not a whiskey. It's more akin to Southern Comfort than to Jack Daniels.
- iheartwurdz, on 05/29/2009, -1/+5where's the whiskey?
- JAVandiver, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4If you like peaty go with Ardbeg. Pass on the blended whiskys.
- farcast, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Herradura. Awesome.
- BashiBazouk, on 05/29/2009, -1/+5The old "mystery" of vodka.
Add 100ml of pure alcohol to 100ml of water and end up with 190ml vodka.
There is a bit of flavor difference from the trace impurities and the source of water but not enough to drink the stuff.
Give me alcohol with at least some craft behind it. - borez, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Moonshine for the masses.
- NJank, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Gosling's Black Seal Rum and Ginger Beer. A Dark'n'Stormy is the only way to truly celebrate Speak Like a Pirate day. Barritt's ginger beer if you're forced to go non-alcoholic soft drink style ginger beer. Daring to mention any Stewart's or Schweppe's or any ginger drink with the word 'ale' in it will get you tossed overboard.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_%27N%27_Stormy - RyanBlueThunder, on 05/29/2009, -1/+4Kettle One and Patron Silver in the freezer. Tito's on standby.
Glenlivet 12yr, Barrilito Tres Estrellas, Jack, Beam in the cabinet. - CaviMike, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3Mr Boston blue label vodka. 16.99 a handle.
- densetsu23, on 05/29/2009, -1/+4Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum.
You're welcome. - tidu, on 05/29/2009, -1/+4that looks like a chick to me

Sissy Stuff- Malibu, Parrot Bay, Stoli Vanilla
Triple Sec- Generic is okay just make sure it has alcohol in it
Sides:
Simple Syrup (make your own), Sweet and Sour (cheap stuff is fine), Rose's Lime Juice or make your own fresh squeezed, Lemons, sugar, cream (fresh), Coke, Pineapple Juice, Coconut Paste, Mint (fresh), Sprite, Soda Water, Tonic Water.
Note: Pepsi is not Coke - MacBandit, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3@daivos the only way they would be all the same is if they were all 99.9% alcohol. They aren't they are typically only %40 which means %60 are other things mostly water but other things. Not to mention alcohol itself does have different flavors to it. Bad Vodka tastes like rubbing alcohol or gasoline. Good vodka has no flavor
