- StigNordas, on 05/16/2008, -5/+16Its nice to read about the good things the fruit offers, but my understanding is the whole pomegranate phenomenon is a product of marketing by the big growers in California. Yes, its a fruit (or berry) and that makes it generally healthy, but I think its mostly marketing that gave it hype.
- rlray216, on 05/16/2008, -4/+12I had a mojito once that was flavored with pomegranate. Tasty stuff, that! Now I find out that it's healthy too.
- sdmarcelo, on 05/16/2008, -2/+9You know this article is flawed. The origin of pomegranates come from Persia. Persians have been savoring this fruit, or berry as this article states for thousands of years. In fact, it is so loved by Persians, that one of the main dishes of Persian cuisine is a pomegranate stew called – fesenjaan. Also, read this as reference – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomegranate
- emix, on 05/16/2008, -1/+6i could eat pomegranates all day

- chazizzle, on 05/16/2008, -2/+6I still remember the Greek myth of Persephone and the pomegranate seeds from my youth.
- cryonix, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3every year around Christmas for the past 15 years we would have pomegranates, up to about 2 years ago people never knew what they were always inquiring about what i was eating and where it came from. some friends resorted to calling an "Alien Fruit" because the seed pods look like alien egg clusters. due to this boom in popularity its been hard to find quality pomegranates anymore, they are 1/2 the size they were a few years ago and not as flavorful. I love the Pom juice, and their tall glasses.
- Calculon, on 05/16/2008, -1/+4Got these a few times from the grocery store. Awesome stuff! Its kind of a pain to get it out, but its worth it.. Goes good with vanilla ice cream.
- Dante2005, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Love them as I do, my parents used to give me a pin to take out the individual pieces - They told me it was more fun that way.
Damn, its only now I see that they just wanted to keep me out of the way and quiet. - neems25, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Persians bleed pomegranate juice!
- Gonasadude, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2I remember the myths as well. In The Odyssey, when the Odysseus' men fall in love with a certain fruit/flower, it is rumored to have been the Pomegranate because it tastes so good.
- b0rna, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3we have pomegranates here at home, at a steady rate. pomegranates juice and pomegranates+cranberry juice as well all the time. pomegranates green ice tea is great stuff too. weather made at home or the Arizona stuff. of course all this being from a persian family, would make sense. pomegranates are great and if they're not in your diet you should give them a try.
- Niacin, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1That flying monkey-bird from Pirates of Dark Water was on to something!
- snohman, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1I make martinis with it...huummm good...
- neems25, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I love me some annaar!
- bokep, on 05/16/2008, -4/+5Who cares? None of us are gonna go out and start eating these things anyways.
And it's not even that interesting. - BonhamsGhost, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Who are all these people that never had a pomegranate before? We also used to call it a Chinese apple.
- mitikomon, on 05/16/2008, -0/+11- God damn you for mentioning this fruit now! it wont be here until Autumn.
2- FYI: the cut in the picture is not correct. it's really difficult to eat it like this. you must cut it on its Meridian not Equator. - Metasquares, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I know they're considered healthy (not sure to what extent that's true), but I like them for the taste.
- DiggieDarko, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2Just because you said that, I trust your info even more!
- Ryan166, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1lol, you ***** are defending POMEGRANATES! Get a hold of yourselves!
- heyimcamcook, on 09/10/2008, -0/+1craaaab people craaaab people
http://www.editthis.info/images/superdickerycom/4/ ... - theatheist, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1its been a secret amongst fellow persians and middle easteners for generations. But if you want to enjoy pomegranate for urself, the company POM makes it in north america
- USCfemme, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1its yummy, middle eastern grocery stores have pomagranate syrup - great for sauces and even mixed drinks. also pama liqueur is delish!
- topace3000, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I'll never forgive him for putting oranges there.
- topace3000, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Crab is too good not to eat.
- TwwIX, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2I remember eating them years ago back in Europe. Here, i can't even afford a pound of local grown apples.
- viruz, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1best way to eat em(been eating them for nearly 20 years) is to get yourself a big ol' salad bowl fill it with water and break the fruit inside the water... it saves you from stains and the pulp mostly floats to the top...
then put the seeds in a bowl and pick away at it, or use a spoon and eat it like cereal :) - Amadeus2490, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Real pomegranates are good for you, but the stuff you buy at the store is boiled and has sugar added, meaning it has very little - if any - health benefits. If you can't get the real thing (which is actually a pain in the ass to eat), don't waste your money; the little POM jars are just a load of marketing and "fad health."
- kingo123, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I eat this every other week. Nice and healthy for you.
- thegsa, on 05/16/2008, -2/+2At my old house, there used to be a tree filled waith these. they were so good nd tasty.
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -2/+2What is it that this article is trying to say?
- brannvesenet, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Careful when eating pomegranates with your favourite T-shirt on, they leave nasty stains if you get them on your clothes. Tasty and healthy though, my gf loves them (and leaves a scattering of small, pink handgrenades all over the floor that I step on).
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0Yes, and in around 10 years like most things it will be bad for you.
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Ryan166 for President!
- kerosion, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1I expected the article to shed light on the producers spending the most advertising pomegranate lore. In reality this is more advertisement puffery for pomegranates. A load of random facts to be perpetuated, drawing more attention to products including the fruit. Yes pomegranates are tasty, but superfood they're not. The only thing super is the advertising budget trying to make pomegranate a staple of the American diet.
- thegsa, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Does that mean you Love Pomegranates?

...not that there's nothing wrong with that. - Duositex, on 05/16/2008, -2/+2I really hate when articles state that at the moment the article written some trend is going main stream as thought they are saying, "BREAKING: Pomegranate is now very popular!" Nonsense. This article is akin to stating, "Internet Gaining Momentum As Form of Communication". It's just idiot.
- slimkevi, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1I'd hit it
- jonasweaver, on 12/29/2008, -0/+0Pomegranate vodka for martinis is good indeed -- http://www.pomegranatebenefits.net
- Aharoni, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1I have a Pomegranate fetish. Seriously, we grow two kinds in the yard (the sweet kind and sour kind), juice, sorbet, you name it... can't get tired of them.
... but I'm just as unhealthy as the next guy. - inactive, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1oh Arizona makes a version of that so I drink it all the time. shut the hell up tool
- Coffeedemon, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Be extra careful when picking one out. I got one that I thought was perfect but was far from it. Its kind of depressing ripping it open expecting all those shiny red berries but getting grey mush (it seemed completely firm). At least it wasn't filled with ants or spiders.
- topace3000, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Tasty, yes. Miracle fruit, no.
- FrankTheCrazy, on 05/16/2008, -1/+0It can't be that great unless it walks my cat and feeds my dog and it does not appear to do even that!
- cubicrystal, on 05/16/2008, -2/+1Be fruitful and multiply.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -3/+2Ryan166 likes him his manfruit.
