- CPD08, on 10/23/2009, -0/+88Most of those weren't fast food restaurants.
- MScrip, on 10/23/2009, -0/+35If Applebee's, Olive Garden and PF Changs are considered "fast food"... what the hell is Wendy's and McDonalds?
- rJNG, on 10/23/2009, -1/+32This made me really hungry.
- TheSarf, on 10/23/2009, -0/+22Yay Taco Bell isn't on the list!
- yacks, on 10/23/2009, -0/+20I swear.. some people just need to realize that it's ok to eat unhealthy food... just not for 3 meals a day/365 days a year... What good is living if you cannot enjoy it sometimes?
- mkriss5681, on 10/23/2009, -0/+18The 30 Most Delicious Fast Food Restaurant Choices
- cubbiesx, on 10/23/2009, -0/+16I happen to be a chef and can say that the food at fine dining restaurants isn't any healthier. There are French sauces that we make which are 90% butter...
To me, eating healthy is more about portioning than anything else. - AmnesiacJack, on 10/23/2009, -0/+11Death Traps
- Calcularius, on 10/23/2009, -1/+10I bet dining with Dr. David Kessler is a real pain in the ass.
- detcade, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8faster food
- PrideThruPwnage, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8I've never been impressed by PF Changs... The run-down looking places that charge 6 bucks for a full meal always seem to taste better than that place... But if you're ever in downtown Omaha (it could happen!!) check out O Casual, they have some amazing Asian dishes there.
- GoKings, on 10/23/2009, -1/+8Where were the healthier alternatives?
- rogeris, on 10/23/2009, -1/+8Buried for not only excluding less healthy choices, but also having a misleading and inaccurate title.
- TomT127, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7But, it's a salad!
- Shawn4168, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7Seems like they had a vendetta against a few select restaurants...as people have already pointed out, most aren't "fast food", and they're excluding a lot of other casual dining chains that are ridiculously unhealthy...like Chili's, or Texas Roadhouse for example.
- KahRahTay, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7their individual items probably aren't THAT bad, but who orders just one item at taco bell?
- executex, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6As long as they don't say anything about Romano's Macaroni Grill Italian Restaurant's Chicken Parmigiana, we're cool.
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6Heh. They should have mentioned the Windows 7 Whopper
- Hayley3AM, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5I've heard/witnessed that "fast food" restaurants are actually better for you than some sit down meals. Like macaroni grill has a bunch of really nasty fattening stuff. Just because you're not picking it up through a window, doesn't mean it's healthy.
- captininsanity, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6Even though they may take more time to prepare there still mass produced, over-preserved, and loaded with as many processed products as possible. IMO fast food isn't simply defined by a preparation time. However, I'm not gonna deny they're delicious...
- aleatoric, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5A lot of these come down to portion size (though they aren't exactly made of the lightest ingredients, either). When I go out to eat and get a dinner entree, I almost never finish the damn thing. They're usually gigantic and (unlike most Americans) I never learned to gorge on such huge portions. I usually leave with a box. The calorie counts therefore become pretty reasonable when spread throughout a 24 hour period.
- darkism, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Like four of those were actually fast food.
Also ***** health nuts. Eat what you want, in moderation, and stop worrying so damn much about it. - zephc, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5fast and furious food
- PrideThruPwnage, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Sorry...
http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-romanos-mac ... - avizaaj, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5I can't wait for lunch!!!
- Barackalypse, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Eat, drink, and be merry, and screw those who would seek to deny you those harmless pleasures. If you go out with friends once or twice a week, eat whatever you feel like, it won't really matter, just be aware eating like that every single day may have consequences.
- SBF214, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4if the worst food is worse than 4 big macs, then I can eat a big mac or even two and not feel guilty .... yes!
- Kettek, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Haha, Quizno's tuna melt almost has the same number of calories as TGI's full rack of ribs and battered shrimp.
- santiago1, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3 Get in Ma Belly!!
- fishergirl106, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3I agree with everyone here, these aren't really fast food places, you *hopefully* aren't going to be eating this crap every day.
The portion sizes on most of these things are very overblown too, I find I only eat about a third, maybe half of what I get at these kinds of places!
Also, they pick on the fat and saturated fat counts on these dishes, but what about sugar? Did they forget to include it, or do they just not think that sugar is just as bad for you as fat?? Many studies have proven that sugar (especially high fructose corn syrup, etc) can be just as hard on your system than fat. IMO saturated fat is not the "killer" that most media outlets seem to portray that it is. The "fact" that saturated fat "clogs arteries" was merely a hypothesis from the 1950s that was never proven right. There are so many different causes of heart disease and clogged arteries. A lot of studies point towards a diet high in sugar (more than 20% of daily calorie intake) can cause your triglycerides and dense LDLs to raise (not good, can cause the buildup in your arteries). I can't put links to the studies on here, but it is easy to google it (try to look at articles from actual scientific journals, not just hyped up media outlets!) - tastybbq, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3The fat makes it good though.
- Klisk, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Ah, the words of an ectomorph.
- EddiePotato, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3They recommended oatmeal or Cheerios instead of granola.
So only eat oatmeal or Cheerios. - hollywoodphony, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Is this the same list these men's magazines keep pumping out over and over?
- EddiePotato, on 10/23/2009, -2/+4While I agree it's the healthiest way to go, it does have a down side.
Consider how much money you make per hour at your job, then mentally "pay" yourself this wage for the time you spend planning, shopping for, cooking, then cleaning up after a home cooked meal. Not so cheap now, is it?
Time is the most valuable thing we have, and unless you really enjoy doing all of the above, you're actually working, and can consider it billable time on a personal level. - palanthos, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2MOAR.
- deathsquadx, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2You should read the first comment...
- Rivfader, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Interesting information on the sugar.
Bottom line enjoy stuff like this in moderation. Don't eat it twice a day. (like I used to in highschool college) - Balanced, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I consider Quiznos to be an 'upper tier fast food restaurant' along with Baja Fresh and a couple others.
Basically, the 1st tier is the burger places (McDonalds, Burger King), Taco Bell, Popeyes, etc. Food is usually grabbed from a warming tray of some kind. Cooking is usually a very short procedure. Nothing wrong with these places in moderation,e specially when you're in ahurry or jsut want some greasy chicken.
Tier 2 is the better places where stuff is generally prepared on-demand. Sandwich shops, Baja Fresh, Chipotle, etc. usually a bit better in taste and the ingredients are at least fresh, albeit the meals cans till be high in calories.
Tier 3 is the chain places: Applebees, Fridays, etc. Nothing wrong with them (again, in moderation) but still not the best. They're not really places you'd take someone to impress them. - el_taco, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2++Taco Hut
- detwiljp, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3unfortunately probably a lot more people then you would think.
- zamnation, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2As bad as McDonald's is, a Big Mac is still lighter in calories than almost anything at Applebee's (minus the Weight Watchers items.) or Olive Garden.
And at least McDonald's provides you with nutrition information, even if it is most likely skewed. You get to play russian roulette at Applebee's and Olive Garden, where they don't even post nutrition info to their websites. - KJSatz, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3Granola? You're telling me granola is worse than a double quarter pounder with cheese?
- Hayley3AM, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Now I only wish these items were served with the calorie count on them! that would keep us all straight!
- boogerthecat, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Hummm... with all the ***** fast food out there to rag on (the Wendy's triple bypass cheese burger?) one has to wonder why On the Border, Olive Garden, Appleby's, TGI Friday's and Quiznos drew such wrath.
For what its worth, who eats a whole Blooming Onion (Outback) by themself? - Balanced, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Yes, for the record I am overweight.
- DeusGear, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Whatever, eating any of these things once a blue moon won't do crap towards your health.
- HurricaneDC, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I'll glycate YOUR end product ;)
- GoKings, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Macaroni Grill is seriously the fattest restaraunt I've ever seen. Everything on their menu is 1000 calories +.
- silverfoot79, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Ludicrous speed food....GO!!!
