- Atario, on 07/17/2009, -1/+28Gentlemen. We have created the ultimate weapon: a form of chocolate that doesn't melt, and is low in calories. With this new technology, we shall addict every man, woman, and child in existence. Then, when they're comfortably munching away, totally unsuspecting, we'll suddenly withhold their chocolate till the world pays us...[snap zoom]...ONE TRILLION DOLLARS.
Oh, and the chocolate is radioactive. Did I mention that? I probably should have mentioned that. - SirBruce, on 07/17/2009, -2/+24But one of the essential parts of the chocolate experience is having it melt in your mouth. Who wants to actually *chew* their chocolate? And having hard nuggets inside freshly-baked cookies is not nearly as nice as melting chocolate chips.
- evil-doer, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1690% less calories. ok whats it sweetened with? splenda or something? ill pass..
honestly tho. ive googled for this information and altho i found plenty of articles on this new chocolate, none of them mention what its sweetened with. - inactive, on 07/17/2009, -1/+17No thank you; I like real chocolate, not virtual chocolate.
- redwolfwalker, on 07/16/2009, -1/+16"The bar's creators want to use it to tackle a growing problem: In Western Europe and North America, chocolate consumption has leveled off and, in some cases, begun to decline. In the past year, consumers in the eight largest western European countries consumed 2 percent less chocolate. In the US, consumption decreased by 8 percent. Under these circumstances, manufacturers are forced to rely on emerging markets for future profits." (article on one page)

- stufflebean, on 07/17/2009, -1/+8They're basically cheating. One of the main appeals of chocolate (besides the flavor, obviously) is the mouth feel you get because it melts at round about body (mouth) temperature. This new candy "melts" because of a chemical reaction with your saliva. It may be inconvenient, but I think I'll stick to my old-school thermally-melty chocolate, thanks.
- WMurderface, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Just figure out how to create the electrical signals in the brain necessary to give us the sensation of eating chocolate, and a remote control to turn the brain implant on or off that we can attach to our key chains. Then anytime we feel like it, chocolate button!
- cw31088, on 07/17/2009, -1/+7I, for one, welcome our chocolatey overlords.
- ATrueRoman, on 07/17/2009, -4/+9mmmmmmmm swiss chocolate is best of all the best chocolate ever made.....
- heynow21, on 07/17/2009, -2/+6Diet desserts are retarded.
- Myztry, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4*hopes for - chocolate revolution.
- linagee, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4a growing problem (for profits)
- bodger, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4When that is what you sell?
- linagee, on 07/17/2009, -2/+6One trillion dollars is nothing these days.
- linagee, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5Dugg for pointing out the dangers of mysterious cancer causing sweeteners.
- SirLowKey, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Hold your marketing horses, chocolate PR people...
Swiss or Belgian Chocolate?
There are no cocoa trees growing in Belgium/Switzerland and the Netherlands is the largest cocoa processing country in the world!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoa - wjlaw100, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Potentially shaped as cute bunnies, clad is metallic armor, and encased in a clear plastic shell for safety in transportation?
- Masayume, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3I'll take the less-additives option. Thanks.
- wjlaw100, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Honestly, sounds like it probably tastes like ass..... Was there ONE review of taste anywhere?
- gantz9x, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3lol
- buckrogers1965, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Melted chocolate running ankle deep in the streets?
- Myztry, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Selling umbrellas in a drought...
- buckrogers1965, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Cocoa isn't unhealthy. Sugar and fat are unhealthy. And whatever artificial thing they are replacing sugar and fat with is more unhealthy.
- TKOtheKDR, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2I thought this was going to have something to do with Ray Nagin.
- DonAlfred, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3Chocolate is supposed to melt. ***** fail!
- buckrogers1965, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Whatever it is, the Geiger counter I own just started clicking like mad when I brought a bar of it into my room. And my canaries died.
- woozlewuzzle, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3Sorry, I have to weigh in and say that Belgian chocolate is even better (IMHO)
- bshock, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3Well, we've had phony chocolate from schlockmeisters Nestle and Hershey's for years now. Why not have phony chocolate with an actual purpose? (Aside from swindling us out of our food money, that is.)
- beautifulbeast, on 07/17/2009, -2/+4Chocolate isn't unhealthy.
- inactive, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1The studies on that are mixed. You can't really generalize but you can always point out that moderation is the key.
- zagatbuzz, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2Non-melting low calorie chocolate?? Yes please!
- WhiteDog, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2Barry Callebaut is not a swiss company. It's a Belgian company. Just because the HQ is in Switzerland that doesn't mean the whole company is swiss, let alone have swiss roots.
For the non-believers, see http://www.barry-callebaut.com/21 :
In 1996 the Belgian chocolate producer Callebaut and the French chocolate company Cacao Barry joined forces, creating a new company called Barry Callebaut
By the way: Swiss chocolate tastes like crap. We make the real stuff. - inactive, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1that's like eating cotton or some fluffy fibers.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -2/+3on the downside it gives you bigger zits
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2Idiots! The calories and the meltiness are good things. These tools need to be eating more chocolate, not thinking up stupid ways to tinker with it.
- 4AntiStupid, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2Except someone already solved the "doesn't melt in your pack" problem a long time ago with a candy coating. M&Ms in WWII are the most famous but not even the first.
- sageerrant, on 07/17/2009, -2/+3This is not really chocolate...
But I would try it, and so would you. - XTomTomX, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Hmmm..Chocolate that will not melt..probably even after I eat it..
Oh yes..Thaaaaat's gotta be super good for you.... - inactive, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1something like the opium war of the rice shortage? how about the chocolate civil war?

though, i'd prefer to have a fight over the best kona coffee in the world - chicaneuk, on 07/17/2009, -4/+4> tackle a growing problem: In Western Europe and North America, chocolate consumption > has leveled off
A growing problem? That people have cut down on eating unhealthy, super sugary snack food? Since when was people eating better a growing problem?! - FlashBazbo, on 07/17/2009, -1/+1Psshht, I've been welcoming them for years.
- Jovian84, on 07/17/2009, -1/+1DOO WWAANNT!
- Pixelante, on 07/17/2009, -1/+0Om.
- XTomTomX, on 07/17/2009, -1/+0We already have that.
It is called Weed.
Of course, weed does lead to chocolate consumption anyway.
..and Doritos.
Mmm..Chocolate-covered-Doritoooooss. - orchidee2, on 07/17/2009, -4/+3I think, only the original will help against lovesickness!
