- JohnnyQwest, on 01/27/2009, -1/+116whoa, Casa Bonita is a real place? No way.
"Casa Boniiiiiiita!" - granolajoe, on 01/27/2009, -0/+52Casa Bonita is like the Mexican Disneyland. At its busiest hour, it truly is a magical place. There are mariachis playing their heart out, there's an actual cave you can go into, and cliff divers and a dude in a gorilla suit make crazy ass jumps from about 20-30 feet above.
It's hard to believe that something so ridiculous and obnoxious actually exists, and I'm Mexican.
As mentioned, seriously avoid the food at all costs. I don't think it can even be considered food. "Slop" more aptly describes it. If you're brave or stubborn enough to go for it anyway, be prepared for a rough time on the can later.
Regardless of its crappy food, take it from Cartman if you want to know if it's worth it:
"Totally." - inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+41It's so weird when you find out that something in South Park is real.
- hootie233, on 01/28/2009, -0/+34Casa Bonita is a real place. I love telling people from outside Colorado its real. Every single kid across the state has either had their own birthday there or been to someone else's there. The food sucks donkey dick though.
- bubblewang311, on 01/28/2009, -0/+23Casa Bonita = next road trip destination
- trump48257, on 01/28/2009, -0/+18Indeed. I've been there....oddly enough on my honeymoon no less. We had to see it after the South Park episode.....It's like a giant pink obelisk rising out of a strip mall and 10 times larger than you would image that it is from the outside. I'll agree with the avoiding the food though, but the sopapillas were decent.
- e3winter, on 01/27/2009, -1/+17"quick, butters we have to get to jimbos bomb shelter."

- WorldLeader, on 01/28/2009, -0/+14I loved Casa Bonita as a child, and remember my visits vividly. There was the mystery of walking up to this strip-mall restaurant and being like "this is kinda creepy!" But once inside, and after wandering around the weird cave tunnels and lines to get your Cisco rations, I was finally seated at the most coveted table in the entire restaurant, the Gazebo by the Waterfall! And yes it was awesome. While enjoying my meal there were cliff divers climbing up the very gazebo that I was eating in, diving off into the water to escape the dreaded pirates. (or something)
After you finally finished your C+ meal, the best part of the entire visit occured... ENDLESS SOPAPILLAS!! with lots of honey and buttery goodness. It was a child's dream come true. Afterwords you would wander around the weird creepy "entertainment arcade" area, which was always kinda freaky, but then you would come across Black Bart's CAVE. And as anyone knows, the worst part about that forsaken cave with that light-up skull that made that really loud noise if you got too close. Oh man that was the single scariest thing I had witnessed as a kid. Like seriously, ***** that thing. *shudder* - dreads3213, on 01/28/2009, -0/+13http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/154195/
- sjbdallas, on 01/28/2009, -0/+11The best thing about going to Denver to visit my grandparents was that they would take us to Casa Bonita. It's been something like 25 years since i've been there but I seem to remember it was the greatest restaurant ever.
- morogolus, on 01/28/2009, -0/+10You telling me they don't have stoned out talking towels in real life?
- krd1979, on 01/28/2009, -0/+9Casa Bonita kicks Chuck E's ass all over the place. While the food quality might be comparable, the rest is way better and more over the top. I remember them having a pinata to bust up like every half hour and the flame jugglers and divers are pretty amazing. Not that I didn't go to Chuck E Cheese as a kid and enjoy it, the difference is that I've gone to both of them as an adult and Casa Bonita's still holds up as a pretty good time.

- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+9CASA FRIGGIN' BONITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People who dugg this ppprrrrroooooobably fall into one of two (or both) categories: they are South Park fans AND/OR they have actually been to Casa Bonita. I am proud to say I fall into both categories.
Their food sssuuuccckkksss, but the atmosphere is a blast, especially if you're a kid or if you're with a bunch of kids.
Sadly, I have never been fortunate enough to be seated right there under and off to the side of the platform for the cliff diving, which in my opinion is the primo seating area in Casa Bonita.
If you ever come to Denver, you must hit Casa Bonita. It's on West Colfax. Do it! - BigVi, on 01/28/2009, -0/+8http://www.casabonitadenver.com/
And yes, the photo quality is better than the food. - Barackalypse, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7Are you sure it was the cave and not the food that did that?
- techweenie1, on 01/28/2009, -1/+8Whoa, no way!
- cavefish01, on 01/27/2009, -3/+10People who dugg this also dugg "Campaigner kill be cow on the road"... ah now that is also Casa Bonita Classy
- cuoops, on 01/28/2009, -1/+8If you listen to the South Park dvd commentaries, they talk about getting permission from Casa Bonita. They said no problem. They talk about going there too.
- ohmartacla, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7I like the sentence "it's like Disney had sex with Tijuana (...)". Nasty!
- thericeroket, on 01/28/2009, -1/+8i have to comment. this place is horrible to eat at, cheesy, and horribly out of date.
and i loved every bit of it.
when i first saw the casa bonita episode of south park, i thought nothing of it except that it was a particularly funny episode of south park. then i was watching it one night while stuck in a blizzard in tahoe with my friends from colorado who were absolutely cracking up. they finally told me it was a real place and that every bit of the parody was true.
so when i visited that summer, i insisted that i be taken to casa bonita where i ate the bad food, saw the crappy high school divers, and ate the sopopeas (sp?). it was awesome. - Tyrghast, on 01/28/2009, -4/+11So like a Mexican Chuck E Cheese? ***** food and overpriced, half-assed entertainment?
- granolajoe, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7I beg to differ. We do go, but we mostly just do it to take friends from out of town who just absolutely can't believe the place is real until they've had plenty of sopapillas and witnessed cliff diving.
- nalguita, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7In high school we took a trip to Denver and visited this place. Watching the diver changed my life.
- nixpix66, on 01/28/2009, -1/+7holy ***** it's real?
- LarsJames, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6Loved this place as a kid & recently took my boys.....Black Bart's cave scared the s*it out of them...we left shortly thereafter.
- granolajoe, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6That's the big difference - the entertainment isn't half-assed. People generally try hard to entertain. The cliff divers especially love their jobs.
- Bic823, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6That's such a great episode...
- ditka354, on 01/28/2009, -3/+9This place is real?!?!?
- bitweever, on 01/28/2009, -2/+7There's one in Tulsa, OK as well if that's a closer road trip for anyone.
- dogfood, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5Protip: Go there at lunchtime on a weekday. There's like five people there eating, but all the fire jugglers, cliff divers, guys in ape suits, and mariachis are working. I don't think they ever leave.
- alittleroy101, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5This place is awesome. If you haven't been, you must go. Classiest thing on Colfax by a long shot.
- TheMishap, on 01/28/2009, -1/+6Dugg for pirate cave
- njohal16, on 01/28/2009, -2/+7"casa boniita casa boniiita food and fun and a festive atmosphere"
- corduroy, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5They do a fair amount of colorado things on south park. In the guitar hero episode, jake jabs, tom shane (voice wasn't annoying enough), ron zappolo... are people who appeared on the episode that people from colorado would recognize.
edit: oops, meant to reply to the parent thread... anyways about the towel thing... Boulder? - solid12345, on 01/28/2009, -1/+6Only two Casa Bonita's exist, one in Denver, one in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a resident of Tulsa, of course I thought this was the hilarious ***** ever and it was even better knowing only us two cities were in on the joke.
By the way after you eat there you better have a whole roll of toilet paper ready afterwards. - eveccker, on 01/28/2009, -1/+6what about the treasure chest full of sunshine and happiness as your leaving?
- alittleroy101, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5I do the same, and I never regret it.
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4Me three. The cheesy-ness is the attraction. That, and the fact that it was the center of a South Park episode.
- brandita, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4How romantic.
- vanadium77, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4Been to Casa Bonita, and that episode of South Park is about as faithful a representation of the real thing as I could possibly imagine.
- PterionFracture, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnHBE9PFgoM
- KibblesnBitts, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4I went there only once for a rec camp trip as a kid....the arcade was awesome and I talked to the waterfall diver, best day of my life
Sadly, I moved away from Colorado shortly thereafter and saw the episode premiere a few years later. Needless to say I was still in high school and nobody actually believed me after telling them it was a real place - saucercrab, on 01/28/2009, -2/+6We went to Casa Bonita monthly, growing up in Tulsa. It's pretty cool for kids...
- KingGorilla, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4Boy was I freaked out when Barbara Streisand was a real person
- RikkiTikki, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4There are a lot of things in South Park that are read. You just have to be from Colorado to notice them.
- fegul, on 01/28/2009, -1/+5Being from Denver I just looked at the source (Westword) and then saw "cliff divers" and "mexican restaurant" and instantly knew what it was. Weird
- trump48257, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4Yes. Very much so.
