- DorXtar, on 05/03/2009, -19/+444Actually, those sodas have no sugar in them at all. The stacks would need to be made of mounds of corn syrup for actual accuracy.
- inactive, on 05/03/2009, -14/+322I know it contains a load of sugar. That's why I drink it. *****.
- Nekura20x6, on 05/03/2009, -17/+245And corn syrup is much worse for you than sugar, so this is actually a completely pointless demonstration.
- nsharp1861, on 05/03/2009, -6/+207"Would you eat a stack of 16 sugar cubes?"
No, but I would drink one. - ddemers413, on 05/03/2009, -2/+168So your saying I can eat 17 sugar cubes and its only as bad as a 20oz coke?
- inactive, on 05/03/2009, -7/+132What? Sugary drinks and foods have a lot of sugar in them? No way!
- solvable, on 05/03/2009, -1/+114This is awesome news. I always wanted to eat sugar cubes.
- TexasShiv, on 05/03/2009, -2/+109Had you looked closely on the front page
From the site: Note: We don't differentiate between different types of sugar - i.e., sucrose, fructose, cane sugar, corn syrup, honey, etc., although there are differences in how these sugars are metabolized. We just used cubes of white sugar as a visual aid. Nutritional information was taken from package labels, manufacturer websites, or the USDA nutrient database. Calorie amounts are based on 4 calories per gram of sugar unless otherwise noted. - wampalord, on 05/03/2009, -0/+94*CRONCH, CRONCH*

Mott's unsweetened apple sauce 211g of sugar
I could be wrong but I think that's a typo. - baileyjohn, on 05/03/2009, -2/+42I bet a horse wouldn't mind eating all those sugar cubes.
- kiley481, on 05/03/2009, -2/+42Thanks, sugartits.
- pault107, on 05/03/2009, -3/+38It bugs me that they didn't complete the pyramid in the 39g stack when they could have.

- nerice6, on 05/03/2009, -4/+37Needs more sugar
- lazyslacker, on 05/03/2009, -0/+33Too expensive, I would think. Although, maybe this "limited edition" is really a large-scale market test to see what the demand for Pepsi made with real sugar really is. I hope so, and I hope it goes over well.
- Itsaah2o, on 05/03/2009, -4/+37nooooo not the slurpee!!!
- inactive, on 05/03/2009, -0/+30Seriously. I know it's a price issue, but then again the price thing is entirely artificial thanks to corn subsidies and sugar tariffs. But even ignoring that, I would gladly pay a little extra for the real deal.
- DRG2003, on 05/03/2009, -3/+30Should have used the 'limited edition' Pepsi Throwback instead of a regular soda. It's made with sugar instead of the high fructose corn syrup. Why can't they use this recipe all the time?
- ddemers413, on 05/04/2009, -4/+31I like turtles!
- 1smartguy, on 05/03/2009, -3/+30Science fact: All carbohydrates are metabolized by the body in the same way. The only sugar your body can use is glucose, so ultimately all sugars and starches must first be converted to glucose so they can be used by your body for energy. Diet and health myths abound. BTW, your body has no problem very quickly converting simple starches to glucose or cleaving sucrose sugar into it's component mono saccharides fructose and glucose. Science fact: sucrose is no better for you than HFCS. If you believe that sucrose is more slowly absorbed by the body, than I urge you to look up a glycemic index chart to see which foods will spike your bloodstream faster with glucose.
- Rain12913, on 05/03/2009, -1/+27Dugg for honest sarcasm.
- headzoo, on 05/04/2009, -1/+27It's not pointless at all. If you follow the links on the site, you'd see they're using the sugar cube visual to highlight more than soda, such as candies, cookies, sauces, etc, which in many cases are made with sugar. They chose one visual aid for them all -- Which they note on the site -- and that's sugar cubes.
Additionally, your average person has a mental association between soda and sugar, and they don't split hairs when it comes to the different types of sweeteners. So the visual aid of using sugar cubes has it's desired effect.
You're over thinking the whole demonstration, and missing the point. - JRjJ106, on 05/03/2009, -1/+27Honestly dugg for sarcasm
- t0x2c, on 05/04/2009, -0/+25The sugar in that is the least of your problems.

- kinseyincanada, on 05/04/2009, -0/+19***** that ive been looking for cherry coke for ***** months.
- iiviip3, on 05/04/2009, -0/+19It's not that simple. It's how your body processes them that sets sugar and corn syrup apart.
- kfxrcer1, on 05/03/2009, -0/+18shouldn't this be how many corn cobs are in that?
- merky1, on 05/03/2009, -0/+18While the amount is high, I applaud the return back to sugar. I forgot how good coke used to be until I traveled to Jamaica, where coke is still made with sugar. Beyond the hype of fructose vs. sugar wars, the taste is what really matters.
- misternils, on 05/04/2009, -4/+20Far from pointless, i would hope this would be eye opening for the people who drink 3+ soda's a day. Corn syrup is worse from sugar, but regular sugar still has very few redeeming qualities.
- andrewober, on 05/03/2009, -2/+18I gave up carbonated beverages cold turkey a little over two years ago, March 20th 2007. I've had a 5-6 can a day habit since I was a youngster... a few months back, I figured that in the past two years, I've given up over 350 POUNDS of sugar (assuming 40g per can.) Another way of looking at it was around 40 or 50 oil barrels worth of soda. A pretty sickening thought.

What - rumblestrut, on 05/03/2009, -0/+12The new Pepsi and Mountain Dew "throwback" have 75 grams of sugar in each bottle. They replaced high fructose corn syrup with sugar.
Seventy-five grams; I don't even know how that's possible. - tim507, on 05/04/2009, -1/+13for sarcastic honesty, dugg.
