- fluidfoundation, on 07/19/2009, -2/+179If you get two Venti, is that a Fo'ti?
- iHippie, on 07/17/2009, -9/+185There is a 24 hour Starbucks 2 blocks from everyone's house.
- theAzone, on 07/17/2009, -9/+155And it'll work until McDonalds enters the market and sells just as good of a product for a much cheaper price
- joshmoney, on 07/19/2009, -2/+129So when do they start offering handjobs?
- po43292, on 07/19/2009, -2/+126I would avoid the McWine.
- BryanTravers, on 07/17/2009, -1/+105They're doing this so people will have an excuse to spend money there at night. Except bars already exist and are much more efficient alcohol serving establishments.
- perrycarter, on 07/19/2009, -1/+93Getting drunk at a coffee shop is a great idea.
- Barackalypse, on 07/19/2009, -2/+90Sure you can have a venti, that will be $8.75 please.
- brad3378, on 07/19/2009, -0/+79You mean you don't want to spend $15 on a bottle of Budweiser?
- chicagojack, on 07/17/2009, -4/+63Sweet!!!! There is a 24 hour Starbucks 2 blocks from my house
- freshgrease, on 07/19/2009, -1/+47Except mine.
:'( - inactive, on 07/19/2009, -6/+44Actually, the McCafe products are pretty decent and rank similarly to Starbucks' products. Consumer Reports did recent blind taste tests showing this.
Don't be a coffee snob. A good coffee is the kind you personally like and drink. - Mothh, on 07/19/2009, -0/+37"I'll take a iced venti half caff amber lagerchino with an extra shot (of tequila)"
- jkash23686, on 07/19/2009, -1/+38dugg for idiocracy ref. but now isnt the time for a handjob.
- Majora26, on 07/19/2009, -2/+36maybe it'll drive those stupid hipsters out
- inactive, on 07/19/2009, -7/+41Madden's voice "Here's a guy who thinks something is better because it's more expensive"
- Blinker1315, on 07/17/2009, -2/+35If this goes through, and I imagine there are all sorts of legal hurdles to overcome--and different, state by state--it's a brilliant idea by Starbucks to goose up business. It could hurt surrounding bars, since a lot of friends will congregate at Starbucks, with some drinking coffee, others beer.
- darknecross, on 07/19/2009, -0/+28I always thought Starbucks imitated Italian-style coffee, not Irish.
- Gorkov, on 07/19/2009, -0/+25Wow, holy ***** *****. So I can spend $4 on coffee to wake me up, then $7 on beer to calm me down, then $4 on coffee so I can drive, then $7 on beer for some girl I wanna talk to, then $7 on beer for myself so I won't seem like a creep, then get financial aid so I can buy gas to get home. Does Starbucks beer come with a goddamn APR? And because it's trendy they'll sell Pabst, you know they will. A beer for the price of a 6-pack. ***** you Starbucks.
- edwartica, on 07/19/2009, -0/+23They've actually been closing a lot of the 24 hour starbucks at like midnight nowadays.
- TexasMd91, on 07/19/2009, -1/+23I wonder if it will be buy able through the drive thru.
- Mothh, on 07/19/2009, -18/+40If they carry the type of coffee you like at McDonalds then you don't like coffee.
- TheRedNewt, on 07/19/2009, -4/+26You certainly don't like Starbucks coffee if you like good coffee. It's not bad, but it's really not particularly special.
- Duffle, on 07/19/2009, -1/+20Yeah but I'd have a McJoint for half the price, and they happen to sell food as well..
- Realrocker1989, on 07/19/2009, -0/+18I wonder if there's whipped Cream on top.
- DirtyBurger, on 07/19/2009, -1/+19At least at a sporting event you're watching something entertaining. At Starbucks you watch a bunch of coffee nuts surf the net on their macs. Exhilarating.
- mecharabbit, on 07/19/2009, -0/+15Heeeere's what I want: I want a vento...no...grandi...no, dude shut up...I want a..a...just gimme a *****' beer man.
And a biscotti, please. - Visual77, on 07/19/2009, -0/+15That sounds horrible.
- rmxz, on 07/19/2009, -2/+17I think this is cool because Starbucks is considered an appropriate meeting place by my employer if we want to get out of the office for an afternoon. Actually my boss doesn't mind if we go to bars either; but in practice we often go to Starbucks.
And this is the most convenient beer-serving place I'm aware of that has decent wireless connectivity. - yocouchdigga, on 07/19/2009, -1/+14There's a bar across the street from the Starbucks near me. I can get a pitcher there (4 beers) for four dollars (domestic), six dollars for Blue Moon. I highly doubt Starbucks can compete with the prices and sure as hell don't think Starbucks could compete with the atmosphere. Seems like kind of a silly venture to me...
- BREZZZ, on 07/19/2009, -1/+14"Keep 'em comin' bartender!" Teen behind the counter looks at you like an idiot and goes back to ignoring everything.
- h4beba, on 07/19/2009, -1/+14That will be 8.49$
- jaromir68, on 07/19/2009, -1/+14If they want to recreate the "European coffeehouse experience", may I suggest De Rokerij of Amsterdam.
Once you get past the legal issues, the money will flow in for certain. - thegallery, on 07/19/2009, -0/+12you mean the McMerlot?
- sexypeon, on 07/19/2009, -1/+13Once your mom starts working there.
- TheRedNewt, on 07/19/2009, -0/+12It's a pretty big jump to say serving beer = drunk people. Yet to see a drunk person at Moe's, a casual fast food restaurant that serves beer. It's not really an atmosphere conducive to people getting drunk or even wanting to get drunk.
But, who knows? That's why they're testing it. If it's a problem, I highly doubt they'll roll them out nationwide. - DrKnowitall, on 07/19/2009, -0/+12Why not? Never seen a drive thru liquor store, huh?
- RiotHeart, on 07/19/2009, -1/+12Starbeers
- Capta1nA, on 07/19/2009, -0/+11Ever been to a bar?
- frankdozier, on 08/10/2009, -3/+14They need to start selling weed.
- Bloyru, on 07/19/2009, -0/+11Except for Barney.
- h4beba, on 07/19/2009, -2/+12I see what you did there
- blitz718, on 07/19/2009, -1/+11"After building an empire based on caffeine, Starbucks is mixing it up and giving beer and wine a shot."
I see what you did there - i4ybrid, on 07/19/2009, -0/+10Or, it'll be cool to drink beer at coffee shops....god they're going to ruin it for the rest of us.
- dbossnirvana, on 07/19/2009, -1/+10Beer: the new alcohol-enriched coffee.
- redfred18t, on 07/19/2009, -0/+9McBeers
- BIOHazard87, on 07/19/2009, -3/+124.20!
- cfisavant, on 07/19/2009, -0/+9How much is a large?
- anarcurt, on 07/19/2009, -3/+12$4-7 a beer? It will fail miserably.
