- Foxprowl, on 05/28/2009, -1/+132Does showing lunches from 3 different countries plus 13 pics from America count as "Around the World?" I feel like they have lunch in places outside Eastern Asia and the USA...
- jboitnott, on 05/28/2009, -6/+76The Korean and Japanese lunches looked good to me. Maybe it was because they actually had vegetables.
- lepetitmousse, on 05/29/2009, -1/+40the korean meals look delicious.

- t0ny, on 05/28/2009, -0/+27http://twitpic.com/1i05i This is what we often had for lunch at Skyview HS Nampa, Idaho. For another slice of pizza it was $2! And the fruit they offered was normally old.
- buddamus, on 05/28/2009, -2/+26When my daughter starts school, I'm making her lunch.
At least I know shes eating right - DahRecords, on 05/28/2009, -0/+24Royale with Cheese
- Phrea, on 05/29/2009, -0/+23Small world...
- RumpleForeskin3, on 05/29/2009, -0/+20She's trading that healthy ***** for a snack pack and a Dr. Pepper.
- w00tdigg, on 05/29/2009, -1/+20We've always been at war with Eastasia.
- Moebaca, on 05/29/2009, -0/+12I don't know which amazing school in the USA they surveyed, but atleast back when I was in Middle and High School (which was less then four years ago) the majority of students ate at the snack bar which served healthy dishes of Doritos, Donuts, and plenty of Soda.
- diggyduggle, on 05/29/2009, -2/+13tofu soup? perhaps it was miso soup, with chunks of tofu floating around.
- cyrusuncc, on 05/29/2009, -0/+11Ah, i have fond memories of the square pizza at school...
- bartpieters, on 05/29/2009, -1/+12So I saw a lot of USA, some Japan and Korea and little France, China and India.... Six countries hardly match the phrasing "from around the world"....
- inactive, on 05/29/2009, -0/+11There were some good US lunches on there, but I really feel that the sad "chicken nuggets and tater tots" lunch best summed up my personal school dining experience.
- vofuse, on 05/28/2009, -1/+11I've been trying to learn to like Korean food for a year now and can still barely eat kimchi. Their dishes are very healthly, though.
- s0nicfreak, on 05/29/2009, -0/+10Guess you should've thought of that before you had 3 kids huh.
Make their lunches at home, you'll save a lot and they'll eat healthier. - clarkbark, on 05/29/2009, -1/+11I was thinking the same thing.
- tehdave, on 05/29/2009, -0/+10I miss chicken nugget day
- blankb, on 05/28/2009, -3/+12Out of all the school lunch's USA's was the worst of them all sadly I wish I had some Japanese lunch
- Donotsurf, on 05/29/2009, -1/+10MOAR BUTTER.
- SirBrittanicus, on 05/29/2009, -0/+9If you've never had one of those similey face fries they're absolutely revolting. They're highly processed and just packed with grease. You can squeeze one and watch it all just pour out.
- almayng, on 05/29/2009, -0/+8The most delicious school lunch EVER was when I was in Texas. Chili con Carne and Enchiladas day were my favorite. They would sell the Enchiladas after school to the general public because they were so delicious.
- mohsenxp, on 05/29/2009, -1/+8I think the couple of USA lunches which had chicken nuggets and pretty much nothing else resembles a typical lunch.
My typical lunch during high school? Chips and gravy (that's fries to you yanks). The good times are sorely missed :( - MSUKate, on 05/29/2009, -5/+12Its interesting to note how the other countries lunches (especially the ones from Asia) seemed to have more vegetables in them than the ones from the US. And the ones in the US seemed to have a lot more fried items in them. The only foreign lunches i saw with fried items were the ones with french fries. no wonder our kids are getting so fat (also less meat)
- nepidae, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7It builds character.
- matu4251, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7I went to the school cafeteria in France from kindergarten (maternelle) all the way through high school (lycee) and let me tell you: those pics were not representative of a typical menu. We usually had french fries once a week (that's the day you usually want to go last so you can have left-over). Otherwise it's mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, veggies. For deserts that would most likely be fruit or yogurt (some cake once in a while). A school cafeteria classic is "langue de boeuf" (beef tongue)... back then I used to stuff myself with bread when that's what was on the menu :)
- orlyfactor, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7I wouldn't call it interesting as much as expected.
- cyoder, on 05/29/2009, -0/+6Are these all YOUR lunches?
You're eating other people's lunches?!
STOP IT!!!! - commasplices, on 05/29/2009, -0/+6Are they really so fry-happy in France?
- mohsenxp, on 05/29/2009, -3/+9Nope. Japan and Korea and USA make up 99.9% of the world so why bother with all the other crap? Who cares what Europe (that is a country right?) has to eat?
- augment, on 05/29/2009, -2/+8WTF! The Japanese kid with the hot dog bun has a pack of condoms with his lunch?
- asgardshill, on 05/29/2009, -5/+10None of the USA lunches look that bad. The portions are at least a reasonable size and they're foods that fit the American palate (kimchi and soba noodles probably wouldn't go over very well in an Iowa school). Hell, I ate out of the vending machine during most of my school career, so those are progress.
- KrisStrong, on 05/28/2009, -17/+22USA has the grossest looking food.

- JAVandiver, on 05/29/2009, -2/+7Kimchi is awesome! What is not to like about spicy fermented cabbage? I can eat a 16 oz jar by myself in one sitting. The after effects are sometimes less than pleasant...
- shadowspawn, on 05/29/2009, -2/+7American school lunches are damn expensive with 3 kids without assistance.
- slyzxx, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5That's not around the world that's mostly from USA, where`s Africa, other parts of Asia, Europe,Americana`s ?
- superman46n2, on 05/29/2009, -2/+7OM NOM NOM, i would eat it all!
- Chorney, on 05/29/2009, -1/+5Way to go. You just made everyone go back and look at the Japanesse hotdog pic.
- JonTheGoose, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Most cultures outside of the U.S., especially asian cultures, use veggies and fruits as the bulk of the meal in general.
- inactive, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4Wrong. They're called French Fries because of the way the potatoes are cut.
- jmann, on 05/29/2009, -1/+5I'm an English teacher in a Japanese Junior High in Nagasaki and eat school lunch all the time. Along with those veggies, we also sometimes eat whale, octopus, seaweed and some other random things from the ocean. It took a while getting used to, but now I absolutely love eating school lunch in Japan--best part of the day. Not only does it taste delicious, but it is extremely healthy too. The world could learn a thing or two from Japan.
- Dkan84, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4mussels not scallops
yellow stuff is takuan - mohsenxp, on 05/29/2009, -3/+7buried for use of 'grossest'
- boozedrinker, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4I ***** used to love the huge rectangle pizza my school served...
- SlowFoodRules, on 05/29/2009, -1/+5USA school lunches suck and you have my condolences for having eaten out of vending machines during youth.
- se7envii, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3I love kimchi! (My mom is korean)
