- ThinkOutTheBox, on 01/20/2009, -0/+29Liquor is Quicker.
- mikbunn, on 01/20/2009, -2/+29Ah, nothing better than coming home from a hard day's work to wait three months for a cold one.
/s - maximilen, on 01/21/2009, -2/+29Liquor in the front, poker in the rear!
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -1/+21Learn to brew your own beer. It's not terribly difficult and the product will blow away any of the canned piss products like bud, miller, etc.
- vacax, on 01/21/2009, -0/+16Not so fast.... GOOD beer sales are up! Bad beer sales are down. Victory for serious beer drinkers.
- Talphin, on 01/20/2009, -2/+16Whiskey FTW
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -0/+12If you're brewing lagers, yes it can take three months. If you're brewing ales, you're looking at 3 weeks tops. Force carbonate and you're good. Naturally carbonate and add another week.
I'll admit that I do have a pretty substantial setup and can do things in two weeks vs. a newbie doing it in six...so your point is well taken. Either way, if you never learn how to do it, you'll always be dependent on those who do it for you.
If you like wine, it's even easier to make.
Make a batch every other weekend or every three and you'll never have to worry. - inactive, on 01/20/2009, -8/+20Need something a lot stronger.
It helps them to relax
It gives them confidence
It helps them to sleep
It helps reduce anxiety
It stops them worrying about things
To deal with stress
To deal with panic attacks
Because they are depressed - inactive, on 01/21/2009, -0/+11the price of hops has increased dramatically also...
- Evontno, on 01/20/2009, -1/+12haha and I just bought a bottle of JD last night.
- roastedbagel, on 01/21/2009, -1/+11You must be in high school
- MpVpRb, on 01/21/2009, -3/+13So...the article wasn't very specific.
Are we talking about craft brews?
Or the fizzy, yellow, mass market piss-beer?
Bud Light is NOT beer.
Stone Arrogant Bastard, now THAT'S BEER! (or more accurately, ale) - yocouchdigga, on 01/20/2009, -1/+9I'll dribnnk to thaat!
- roastedbagel, on 01/21/2009, -1/+9Maybe people are finally starting to realize that Miller, Bud, etc. are vile excuses for beer, and are going for the micro-brews now.
- MewtwoReturns, on 01/21/2009, -0/+7...time to get a new gf?
- JerkNowitzki, on 01/21/2009, -1/+8Oh yeah?? Well last night, I drank 32 beers, three bottles of scotch, snorted five ounces of coke, ***** 13 women (all of them supermodels), beat the ***** out of ten guys (all of them professional boxers), bench pressed 400 pounds (with one arm), shot seven cops, stole four cars, beat Michael Jordan in a one-on-one basketball game and then passed out for two months... I'm so *****' tough, and such a manly, masculine man...
- snaglepuss, on 01/21/2009, -0/+6With smoking bans in bars, a bottle of liquor is easier to carry home than a six pack & last far longer.
- stix213, on 01/21/2009, -0/+6Its just Americans spending their money wiser. You can get way drunker for the same amount of money shooting whiskey chased with a coke than trying to down a case of beer. Plus you can save water by not having to go to the restroom nearly as often, so you are helping to save the environment even as you are hammered! A double win!
- Pyros7, on 01/21/2009, -2/+8The fact that the price of a draft at any local restaurant is quickly approaching what a 6 pack costs at a liquor store probably doesn't help.
$6.50 for a beer? One beer? It's the big size right? No? ***** that, I'll pick up a bottle of liquor on the way home and still be drunk before I get there. - aristotle1990, on 01/21/2009, -1/+6"exactly. NOTHING gives more alcohol per $$ than those bottles of low-end vodka. NOTHING."
Ummm...sure about that?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everclear_(alcohol) - doctressjulia, on 01/21/2009, -0/+5I am switching to weed.
- MacEnvy, on 01/21/2009, -0/+5I make "country wines" from 100% fruit juice. It's easy as can be, very inexpensive, and a lot of fun. I recommend starting with the 1 gallon recipes, you can find them all over the Internet at places like ehow.
I've made some really crappy wine and some really good wine, but either way it's still fun. - piznut, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4I started with beer...for the amount of booze it took to get me a buzz it was cheaper. Then my tolerance went up so I switched to hard liquor to satiate my newly developed alcoholism. Then, it didnt really matter...$20 worth of beer or a $20 bottle of Jameson gets me equally drunk in a night....Beer tends to have a more noticeable effect on how my clothes fit....so i stuck with liquor for a while. It seems tho that now, 2 or 3 bottles of 2-buck-chuck will get me plenty buzzed so that I can deal with going to bed,
Then there was that one week where I decided to be sober..It felt great and i had more money in my wallet but....
Oh yeah, theres no but....damn you booze.
Ouch..my liver hurts - scheibs14, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4More bang for your buck, not too surprised
- korea, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4liquor is quicker
- ISellDrugs, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4and 10 times as expensive at 250 bucks a bottle at the liquor store or 50 bucks a shot at the local bars around here
- m0n0kr0m3, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4Make your own beer. Don't support huge breweries.
- KittySpark1es, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3Whisky FTW.
Scotch drinkers will get that. - LaXXPlaya911, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3Its actually because we are becoming more and more like the communist russians.
- Ender008, on 01/21/2009, -1/+4They're damn well not losing beer purchases from me.
- reparsed, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3Victory Gin.
- casbar, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3Well I sure ain't responsible for these beer stats.
- caerwyn, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3That really is a wonderful beer, and I've got one in the fridge right now. Every so often, though, I have to splurge on my personal favorite- the Rogue Imperial Stout.
- anklesnap, on 01/20/2009, -1/+4Time to switch my vice huh?
- TheNyquilKid, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3For the same price I could get enough quality beer that will get me drunk once or I could get enough quality liquor to get me drunk 3 times including a mixer.
- piznut, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3It takes a special brand of rotgut to inspire an entire industry to add an 'e' to the name of their product.
- Chris_F, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3My conclusion? Liquor is quicker.
Of course for me it's not the value. You won't see me with a bottle in my hand that costs anything less then $40. The "good stuff" is of course never seen in my hand. I keep it locked away. ;) - khaosx2030, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2Sure is 11/5/2008 in here.
- iankino, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3It's easier to sneak a flask of [insert drink of choice] into [insert location] than it is to sneak a six pack in.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3There's also a world-wide hops shortage, and this is affecting beer sales throughout the world.
- bluesman3535, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3George Washington would have wanted this. He owned a distillery, not a brewery, therefore it's a patriotic trend.
- rodon, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3I'll raise my double scotch to that.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2ah Vladdy...how I've missed you.
- Maddoktor2, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2And sex won't rot your teeth.
- Applo, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2It just works better.
- HippyJM, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2***** Miller. Support craft beer or brew your own.
- Trigononamous, on 01/21/2009, -2/+4But candy is dandy.
- pin0chet, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2try Stone russian imperial stout, it'll blow you away
- iankino, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1Was adding to the list of reasons as to why hard alcohol hasn't taken a hit while beer has. I know that I brought a flask with me to a bar one night when I was strapped for cash and my friends wanted to go and generally I'd buy quite a few beers.
