- dl101, on 02/19/2009, -20/+726After hearing about some of the harmful side effects of the artificial sweetners, I'd rather take my chances with real sugar.
- SpeshulEd, on 02/19/2009, -2/+474Sweet!
- jacobu9, on 02/19/2009, -7/+331Can I just get SUGAR, IN WAH-TER?
- krellor, on 02/19/2009, -3/+322It doesn't cause the pancreas to produce insulin, meaning the hunger signal to the brain doesn't get shut off as quickly and we eat more without feeling as full?
- bishopknight, on 02/19/2009, -10/+245They bringing back Crystal Pepsi also?
- davincih, on 02/19/2009, -2/+218As a bonus, it tastes a lot better to.
Actually forget bonus, taste is all I care about. - Faberski, on 02/19/2009, -13/+228what a lovely gift to give us on the most sacred of holidays...4:20.
- whazup911, on 02/19/2009, -1/+214About time.
- Daemastrius, on 02/19/2009, -0/+188Welcome to Costco. I love you.
- Gr00ver, on 02/19/2009, -3/+175You know what they say about high fructose corn syrup.
- Manchildcartoon, on 02/19/2009, -0/+153more.
- BoneStamp, on 02/19/2009, -1/+126I wonder if this is to compete with Mexican Coke, which is a popular product in the Mexican food section at my local grocery store.
- no2gates, on 02/19/2009, -0/+115That's why I buy the Mexican Coke at Costco. It's in glass bottles, and made with sugar.
- SQLserver, on 02/19/2009, -2/+116I second that. Drinking from a glass bottle is more comfortable, and feels more natural and sanitary than drinking from a can.
- Gr00ver, on 02/19/2009, -1/+102I should clarify my stand on this issue. Sugar > high fructose corn syrup.
- dougmidkiff, on 02/19/2009, -0/+88It was like he was wearing Edgar. Like an...Edgar suit.
- Frankyfan3, on 02/19/2009, -2/+89Jones Soda uses pure cane sugar and they're tastiness is available all year long. :)
- LoveWidescreen, on 02/19/2009, -0/+87Why only until June?! God damn it...
My wife *HATES* Coke. Totally. (I know the article is about Pepsi, but bear with me...) However, when we went to Europe a few years ago she loved it! I told her it was most likely because they use real sugar instead of HFCS.
I'm eager to try the new Mountain Dew. It's ridiculous that they're only offering this for two months, but hopefully it's a trial to determine if it would be profitable in the long run to offer a sugar version. - Spamcan, on 02/19/2009, -3/+86They need to stop selling the HFCS and just make the product real sugar ALL THE TIME. I'm going to be stocking up on that mountain dew like crazy, I stopped drinking HFCS a while ago and I miss that stuff.
- TheMachine1, on 02/19/2009, -2/+81Candy = dehydrated soft drinks.
- jotate, on 02/19/2009, -17/+90Eh, I suck down diet pop like oxygen. I prefer to skip the extra calories now and grow old knowing that my corpse will be a great source of information to document the real effects of aspartame on the human body over the course of a lifetime.
I live my life for sex and science. Diet pop wins for both. - danwallace, on 02/19/2009, -8/+78Somethin' tells me if you drink that much diet pop, you probably aren't living your life for sex.
- BaseballGuyCAA, on 02/19/2009, -0/+69Mmm... invisible cola
- Kohaxx, on 02/19/2009, -3/+67I heard it on Boston Legal, must be true.
- hairyfro, on 02/19/2009, -7/+66Is this timed to coincide with Hitler's birthday? Or just 4/20?
- LucasJ218, on 02/19/2009, -15/+74^ don't believe that, more specifically.
- greenmartian, on 02/19/2009, -8/+66I see what you did there.
- wild, on 02/19/2009, -1/+58To see how popular it is.
- krellor, on 02/19/2009, -4/+59I figured you were being sarcastic. I was hoping my response would stand in stark contrast to the actual commercials and be considered funny. I guess not.
But while I'm being dugg down I may as well post more info. Besides just not triggering the insulin production, HFCS also does not increase leptin levels, is linked to non-alcohol fatty liver disease due to its rapid metabolism in the liver increasing triglycerides and fat storage, and disturbs glucose metabolism. Go corn. - Rhonwyn, on 02/19/2009, -2/+56*citation needed.
- Shawn4168, on 02/19/2009, -3/+53But...but...high fructose corn syrup is made from corn, is nutritionally the same as sugar, and is fine in moderation! TV told me so!
- anexanhume, on 02/19/2009, -4/+53OM NOM NO... uhhh,
GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG - BoneStamp, on 02/19/2009, -1/+49Does high fructose corn syrup cause less cavities?
- TheKillDoctor, on 02/19/2009, -6/+54I never see skinny people drink diet soft drinks.
- Locnar, on 02/19/2009, -1/+47I thought it was just me. But I think that the pepsi in glass bottles tasted better!!!
- youliveinfear, on 02/19/2009, -0/+46Dugg for Mexican Coke!
and Dublin Dr Pepper! It's a travesty that the majority of the country cannot get Dublin/Temple DP.
I don't normally drink pepsi but i will buy this in support of real cane sugar soda. - jstohler, on 02/19/2009, -1/+47You can already get real-sugar Coke by going to your local Hispanic grocery store.
- vbullinger, on 02/19/2009, -2/+47You already got your citation: Boston Legal, sheesh!
No, seriously, just do some research. Just Google some things:
High fructose corn syrup
GMO
Codex Alimentarius
Try Google videos and watch some lectures. Interesting subject. - inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+44You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
"Your proposal is acceptable" - sockpuppets, on 02/19/2009, -2/+46That's because the fat people eat them.
- tgc1, on 02/19/2009, -0/+43More... *grumble*
- Adrnshw6, on 02/19/2009, -1/+43Anyone know if Coke is planning on testing real sugar too? I was in Europe last spring, and coca cola with pure cane sugar is such an improvement over corn syrup coke. I miss it :(
- FKnight, on 02/19/2009, -7/+49More sanitary to drink from a glass bottle than a can? Where the frack do you get your canned sodas?
- VictoryGin, on 02/19/2009, -0/+41that's because it's actually a different formula. Well, at least for CocaCola it is. They use a different formula for glass/plastic/aluminum distributions. Something to do with how the chemicals/ingredients react to the materials.
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -7/+48Try Jones Sodas- Many Flavors all made with Pure Cane Sugar. Their sugarless diet drinks are made with Splenda and taste good as well. Be sure to drink cold or on ice- these sodas are sweeter than you are used to but boy are they tasty. Berry Lemonade and Cream Soda are my two favorites.
- Hetman, on 02/19/2009, -1/+41I was unaware you could get it in the states. I have never had it , but I hear that it is a lot better than when they use corn syrup.
- Kohaxx, on 02/19/2009, -6/+45But will sugar based Mountain Dew taste better than crab juice?
- MtheoryX, on 02/19/2009, -0/+39@VyRuZ:
There's not a market for hair removal? Are you insane?
Meet and talk to a woman once or twice and you'd know better. - BrettFromTibet, on 02/19/2009, -2/+40Soft drinks = liquid candy.
