- seattlegirluw, on 11/04/2009, -0/+42Ah, but will they come with the spoon straws? That's the REAL question.
- sbcea, on 11/05/2009, -0/+34The Blue Raspberry wine will be the best.
- Lowenfels, on 11/04/2009, -1/+233.99? 7-11? I'd take 2 buck chuck from Trader Joe's over that any day of the week.
- thegrantman, on 11/05/2009, -1/+17It should cost $7.11 for a gallon jug.
- boardthis, on 11/05/2009, -1/+17awww from the pic i thought i was going to be able to make a wine slushy cocktail with mountain dew code red. :(
- Takfam, on 11/05/2009, -0/+15When it comes to wine, true sommeliers don't care and the average joe cares only about the most basics of a taste-nose-price balance. It's only the wannabe wine nuts that would get up in arms over things like this.
We pranked a wine-nut friend with drugstore wine once. The bottle was $10.99 and he loved it. Backpedaled like a political pundit when we showed him the receipt. - rossisdead, on 11/05/2009, -0/+14You know, if I'm gonna buy cheap wine, I'm gonna buy one that calls it as it is

- otherwiseyep, on 11/05/2009, -0/+122 buck chuck from my Trader Joe's is $3.99
- Jough, on 11/05/2009, -0/+10Wine slurpees?!
- motafett, on 11/04/2009, -1/+10Can't be any worse than the Twitter wine.
- Eurynom0s, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9I hope they don't bring this to Louisiana. Imagine being able to get a Big Gulp of wine at the drive-thru!
Actually, come to think of it... - rotundo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9It's so true -- wine quality does vary a lot, but it's not dictated by price. There are a ton of excellent wines that would please any snob's taste for under $20, even though it would kill them to admit it.
- zombiecarlin, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7That is the saddest Digg post I've ever seen. Plugging your own Twitter on Digg. Seriously mate.
- Wakkyweed, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7The Top Ten names For The New 7-11 Wine:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. Grape Expectations
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. Chateau des Moines
2. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar
And the number 1 name for 7-11 Wine...
1. Nasti Spumante - milsorgn, on 11/05/2009, -1/+7Carlo Rossi is the only wine for me.
- rotundo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5I did an extensive multi-month test with my wife (a semi-wine snob) where I would serve an unknown wine with dinner and she'd rate them 1 to 10. Prices ranged from $2 to $50. There was not a high correlation between price and rating. The two top reds were tied quality-wise and ended up being being $8 & $14 per bottle. The three way tie for whites were $4, $6, and $40. Two Buck Chuck actually made a decent showing in the reds.
These days I keep a box of Franzia Cabernet around for a daily glass with dinner and she reluctantly admits it's drinkable. - blackprizm, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5A nice syrupy wine to wash down one of those 7-11 treadmill hot dogs that's logged about 15,000 miles seems about right to me.
- rotundo, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5Does _any_ vodka not taste like rubbing alcohol?
Actually did a vodka tasting a few weeks ago:
http://jon-a-thon.livejournal.com/60545.html
The cheapest vodka came in a close second. - BrownieMix, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5The blood of Christ
- rotundo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Hey, I love Chuck, but I'm willing to splurge and try a $4 bottle of wine once in a while. I'll let you know if it's worth it.
- gcnaddict, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Are you trying to get twitter followers?
If you consider me blocking you to be a following then I guess you're having some luck. - Mujokan, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Cheap wine doesn't necessarily have to suck. Here in Europe I can buy a liter bottle of wine that's bottled by a supermarket chain and it's drinkable. (Price for 1 liter is about $5.90 according to internet currency conversion.) It depends how many corners you cut and who you're sourcing it from.
- anthropodeus, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3so it doesn't count if it's served from a soft-drink dispenser?
- rossisdead, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Oddly enough, for $5 it tasted decent.
- Auto, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3"Big gulps huh? Alright... Well, see ya later!"
- Procure, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3I'll take that in a 64oz Big Gulp to-go, please
- jdeane, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Much to the delight of vagrants everywhere, I'm sure.
- PartyCat, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3premium? i feel like something about that label is sarcastic.
- anthropodeus, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3you know . . . that's actually a pretty good idea!
- TomT127, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Should go over good with the Malt Liquor and Thunderbird crowd.
- veriix, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Finally I can drink something classy with my crazy straw.
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I believe it is now known as 4 buck chuck due to inflationary pressures where I live in SF.
- yhan, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Not that cheap, a 2~4€ bottle is a good enough bottle to have with a meal here in Portugal. Then again wine isn't by any means considered as a "premium drink". A glass of wine won't set you off much more than a soda at your corner restaurant. And no, those 2~4€ bottles don't suck.
- sizzzzlerz, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Now when I go in to fill my slimjim fix, I'll complement that with a fine cab. That's more than a meal!
Thanks, 7-11! - VictoryGin, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I wonder how many people will remember that small, random reference.
- ohhoe, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Damn pennsylvania laws.
- anthropodeus, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2@rossisdead
it's almost like the "goodness" of wine is asymptotic to a fixed value as price increases indefinitely . . .
i'd like to cite an article that i was on digg a few days ago:
http://digg.com/d318yzW
there's no way that 15k$ wine can actually taste like 15k$. - VictoryGin, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1It's $2.79 in Atlanta now.
Still not bad... and gotta be better than gas station wine - BongWaterSmells, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Buried for messing with my stereotypical image of the world, this should have happened in france
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1This reminds me of Albertson's Brand Vodka. It tastes like rubbing alcohol, but you can have a buzz that will give you a bigger hang over than Amy Winehouse trapped in beer brewery.
- neomatrix724, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Santana Champ is the only one for me...It's so CRISP.
- boardthis, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1i'm a huge fan of effen vodka. originally bought it because of the name and keep going back because it is the only vodka that i consider smooth.
- zephc, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1What's that come out to in juice box size?
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1I love doing that to people. I bought a six pack of beer in gold cans (forgot what I was) for like 1.99 a six pack. Gave it to a few of my friends when I got back. Told them it was rare from germany and cost like 16 bucks. I love watching them describe what is in the beer. "It's a perfect balance of hops with a clean finish"
- jeffwmartin, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1No, cola flavored!
- adraft, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1son of a bitch, 7-11's don't sell alcohol where I live.
- edgarreyes, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1too bad the 7-11 here in the states isn't up to par to the 7-11's in Japan. Then it the news story would make more sense!
- KingGorilla, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1I would try that
