New Starbucks brew right for you
nydailynews.com — Considering I refer to my local Starbuck's as my office, this is (hopefully) good news. As long as drinking more than one grande doesn't make me start pooing green, I'll be happy.

Someone should poll diggers for % coffee drinkers ... I rely on the heavenly Diet Coke for my caffeine intake :)- halobender, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Diet cola will kill you. Plus it's just nasty.
- timdorr, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Aspartame has been shown to be safe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame_controversy ...
But if you're that concerned, drink Coke Zero, which is sweetened with Sucralose (Splenda) and has even more data backing up its safety.

- elohan, on 04/10/2008, -5/+16hate starbucks myself - I wonder how much the daily news was paid to write about this new brew - then again - maybe starbucks is actually working on making good coffee -who knows
- brufleth, on 04/10/2008, -1/+5While the quality of coffee has to vary from store to store I am pretty sure that the majority of people who go to Starbucks don't actually even get coffee. They get some cream and sugar mixture that may or may not be coffee flavored. I can agree that many of these concoctions are delicious they aren't actually coffee.
On a road trip recently I had an actual coffee from Starbucks and it was the most burned cup of motor oil coffee I've ever had. If you want a delicious flavored drink then Starbucks has you covered. If you wan an actual coffee then you're probably just as likely to get one at a D&D or whatever cheap coffee places are popular in your area.- JosephStalin, on 04/10/2008, -2/+3I go to Starbucks occasionally and I always get a venti coffee. None of those sugary drinks. While it is a bit bitter, it does do a good job at what I drink coffee for: getting a caffeine fix. Starbucks coffee is around 200mg per 8 ounces (varies per brew). That's higher than many other types of coffee (average is ~133mg). Red Bull only has 80 per 8 oz...
Also, if you call Starbucks coffee "motor oil", have you ever had 7-11's coffee?- brufleth, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Ha. No I haven't had 7-11 coffee but I would expect it to be questionable. I'm more of a Dunkin' Donuts guy myself.
- jbmcb, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2I agree - all the Starbucks drinkers I know dump a bunch of cream and sugar in to the regular coffee, or get mocha or frappacinos, etc... The one thing I like from there is a short cappuccino, they are amazingly good. Just the short, the milk/coffee ratio in the other sizes are wrong.
The new McDonald's coffee is actually really good, as is the regular coffee at Panera and Caribou.

- stonebear, on 04/10/2008, -2/+3I have long felt Starbuck's needed to mellow out a little.
- MadMerv, on 04/10/2008, -2/+4Yep you'd think selling the same ***** at half the price would make people realize they've been ripped off for the last decade, Not in America.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/10/2008, -2/+3Actually, coffee being an import and the dollar having lost 40% of it's value in the last 5 years... It was 4 times the price.
- suparphat, on 04/10/2008, -6/+1Love me some Starbucks... overpriced or not!
- sjbdallas, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10Geez what a horribly written article. I lost track of the metaphors, puns, and ridiculous adjectives after the first 4 sentences.
- Azerael, on 04/10/2008, -2/+15Uh...
...this is news?- salomejones, on 04/10/2008, -1/+5Sure its news, to every person who dugg it. Welcome to Digg. Enjoy your stay.
- skeen07, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2Digg is not about news..
- alexforcefive, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Yeah, that's why the main section is called "news"

- bosssmiley, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10Press release + hack with a deadline = horrible abuse of the English language, and of the definition of the word "news". Sorry, but buried.
- mcnicks, on 04/10/2008, -4/+1Starbucks doesn't serve coffee; it serves warm, overpriced flavoured milk.
- Paranoidmarvin, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2not if you have the strong stuff...
- koft, on 04/10/2008, -2/+12who gives a ***** about this *****?
- capainter, on 04/10/2008, -3/+8As a Starbucks shareholder, you all need to buy this *****, lots of it, regardless of the inflated price.
- DangerCollie, on 04/10/2008, -2/+5Starbucks has a "rosebud" moment. Trying to harken back to their carefree days when they were a hole in the wall coffee shop in Pike's Street Market. Contrast those happy days with their life in lofty corporate Xanadu.
Rose-bud..... - GamerX, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1I never post comments before reading the article, but, this time I' ll do. Whatever it says, I' ll still think the same way this guy does: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6253122084 ...
- GamerX, on 04/10/2008, -1/+16253122084108451360
- GamerX, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2Whatever... Stick it up your ass, ***** Starbucks!
- MLisa, on 04/10/2008, -2/+6FRIEND DON'T LET FRIENDS GO TO STARBUCKS.
- 6502programmer, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6I all but refuse to drink starbucks. Their "coffee" tastes nasty and burned to me. When I do have to meet people there, I stick with espresso. It's pretty hard for them to mess up a double espresso with three extra shots.
Come to think of it, I don't know whether it's the disgusting taste of their coffee or the pretentiousness of ordering in spangtalian that squicks me most. Aspirational goods are cool and all, but please, for the love of FSM, make sure it's something worth aspiring to.- saltandblues, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Um... did you even read the article, or did you just come here to rant?
- 6502programmer, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Yes, actually, I did. Had I chosen to rant about the article, I could have done that as well. From the third grade writing style (ever hear of paragraphs?), to practically fellating the Starbucks brand, the article had all the impartiality of a first party press release.
- alexforcefive, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Am I the only one still boycotting starbucks for their monopolist tactics and their handling of the 9/11 bottled water incident?
- saltandblues, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Um... did you even read the article, or did you just come here to rant?
- monkeyroyal, on 04/10/2008, -3/+2Everytime someone orders a Grande Frappuccino, a puppy dies.
- timusca, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2Shut the hell up with your "corporations are evil and aren't any good" *****. Frappuccinos are a flavored drink just like anything else (coke, Frosty's, etc.) and they taste good. I don't give a rat's ass where it comes from. If you like a product, buy it... its a key factor in economics.
- jzuska, on 04/10/2008, -2/+3Is it still hot water poured over ground beans?
- terryhuang, on 04/10/2008, -2/+4Why is this on the front page?
- MisterEX, on 04/10/2008, -1/+7In other news: McDonald's creates a hamburger with cheese!
- brstilson, on 04/10/2008, -0/+8I was going to comment about this, but I decided to draw a *****-looking comic about it instead.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f207/brstilson/c ...- xtremesniper, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2I would digg you twice, but alas...
- FDDIcent, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2meh, comic was so-so but I dugg you for the effort.
- yooper1019, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4I'm drinking one right now. I'm only trying it b/c of the hype. Thankfully it's not that great since I hate Starbucks and haven't spent money there in two years because they only provide 4% of their beans as Fair Trade.
- syl1985, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Starbucks sucks, unless you live in a city with no good cafes/coffee - I live in Melbourne, starbucks is one of the worst coffees available here, next to mcdonalds.
- kajh, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6Why do people think Starbucks is good coffee? I wonder McD's is considered fine cuisine?
- pharekyz, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2Probably because they are too lazy to invest the time, money and energy into perfecting their own cup at home.
- jefuchs, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4It's not just Starbucks. I think the whole coffee-house mentality is a laughable cliché. They're all corporate marketing hype, and somehow people feel like they're part of something when they go there.
I drive right past Starbucks to go to Burger King for coffee. Tastes great (BTW: BK coffee is actually a frozen concentrate, but I drink coffee for the taste, not the recipe, so it's my favorite).- 6502programmer, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2So you can make money by selling products, at an inflated profit, that make people feel like they're part of something... Has someone let Steve Jobs know about this??
- brstilson, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Drinking dark-roasted coffee makes you a better person.
It's science. - pharekyz, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8Starbucks is NOT upper echelon coffee. There... I said it. Digg me down.
- tdogg241, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Why? You're absolutely right.
- SpinningHead, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Its not that they need to be more mellow. The dark roasts used to be great. Problem is they've been burning their coffee the past few years. Personally, I think Daz Bog is the best around right now.
- CynicSight, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Actually McDonald's Premium Roast is A LOT better than Starbuck's coffee... Check it:
http://mcd.bloggingstocks.com/2006/10/02/mcdonalds ... - ChristaMaria, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1What I wouldn't give for a Venti White Chocolate Mocha right now.
- Antangil, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Wow, phar... may I suggest decaf? If you can't taste the difference, than drink whatever you want, but don't jump down my throat because I've trained my taste buds. Coffee is like any food in that there are good examples and bad examples; hand-made Mozzarella > Kraft cheese-in-a-can.
If you don't care about this stuff, go back under your bridge and leave us alone. - wacomwacoff, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Buried for spelling Starbucks with an apostrophe.
- mile, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2That isnt coffee, its http://www.crappycoffee.com Burnt, overpriced, dark-water.
- CreateSomeNoise, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Its over for starsucks. Their fad has finally popped. THANK GOD. That coffee sucked big time. I tried it once.... ONCE. I contributed my $4 to the shareholders. Never again.
- firebirdx01, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1you can get a free Pike Place brew card in your newspaper
- Collinamemega, on 07/12/2008, -1/+0Starbucks is almost becoming coffee itself! Very soon we shall start growing starbucks plant for coffee production in Brazil or Kenya.
