- loconet, on 11/05/2009, -1/+58McDonald's in Cuba? WTF? I had to research this.. turns out it's in Guantanamo.
- mrMunchies, on 11/05/2009, -9/+55If you travel to Europe and eat out at McDonald's there is something wrong.
- lukas88, on 11/05/2009, -1/+42It is maps like this that remind us that Greenland exists.
- LBUCHA, on 11/05/2009, -7/+39Norway is expensive, yes, but $7.18 for McDonald's burger!? it's not even real meat. blecghk
- Greg2k, on 11/05/2009, -2/+32Why? It works for those who want to eat something they already know they're going to like and also for those interested in seeing what's on the locals' menu. McDonald's in India is completely different to the American chain. In Europe the similarities are greater, but there are still things that make each chain unique. Beef in the spanish McDonald's is way better than the beef in American ones, for example. I presume the McDonalds in Norway has something involving local products which is probably worth a try.
I hate it when people automatically think that eating at McDonald's is some sort of disorder or bad habit. Provided you don't do it ALL THE TIME, it's perfectly normal, at home and abroad. - ennuisquared, on 11/05/2009, -5/+32Africa is too cool for McDonald's.
- dermeister, on 11/05/2009, -4/+31So according to the map, Iceland doesn't have any McDonald's outlets, however, the most expensive McDonald's burger is $5.21 there.
- TalahRama, on 11/05/2009, -1/+22Yeah, it's definitely McDonald's that's at fault. Not the millions of people that ignorantly devour the ***** they call food. As much as I hate to believe it, they're just meeting a demand. If it weren't McDonald's, it'd just be some other fast food place.
- FitteMas, on 11/05/2009, -0/+20In Norway, the least you can make in hour for job if your over 18 is about 20 dollars
- iwashere2, on 11/05/2009, -3/+22No. There's nothing wrong. I travel to Europe alot and I eat whatever I like..Including Mcdonald's.
:-) - eastwood24, on 11/05/2009, -0/+18Irish people?
- casspa, on 11/05/2009, -3/+20My grandparents passed on opening up the first group of franchises in Florida back in the day...FML, that could have been worth a penny or two.
- nugz85, on 11/05/2009, -0/+13masters of ceremony?
- nlemmon86, on 11/05/2009, -0/+13The map is inaccurate! I have seen a McDonalds myself in Morocco not two years ago.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mckroes/sets/72157594 ... <- other evidence - mufasa, on 11/05/2009, -0/+13McDonald's recently closed their restaurants in Iceland, because of the economy.
- hoju7887, on 11/06/2009, -0/+13Are you kidding? Whenever I go to a new country i ALWAYS try a few american fast food chains. You'd be surprised at how different the food is from place to place. I mean I eat 3 meals a day, there's plenty of chances to eat whatever you want.
- wakeupsticky, on 11/05/2009, -0/+12Young MCs?
- astorygirl, on 11/05/2009, -6/+18McDonald's pulling out? This might be one upside of the financial crisis for Iceland.
- protodon, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11One time in the czech republic, I bought 4 rolls for literally 10 US cents. A bum asked me for money and I gave him a roll. He looked at me like he knew the value of what I had just given him.
- inactive, on 11/05/2009, -1/+12http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:McDonaldsWorldLo ...
The real list, there is no McDolands in Kazakhstan and other countries listed in posted map. - mrjovanovic, on 11/05/2009, -0/+10There are 14 McDonalds restaurants in Serbia, a country that's marked blue in that horrendously erroneous map. :)
As for the other countries, they are also present in Macedonia, Hungary, and Romania. Why care about these places anyway? Their different peoples, climates, and cultures are completely irrelevant, they are just projections of "Eastern Europe" as we see them fit. Belgrade is gray and full of snow, Bucharest is a town of gypsies, and Hungary... there's country like that? I've heard of Turkey, but Hungary...? :)
Sidenote: My first post on digg! Been reading the website for three years now :)
Sidenote #2: I love it that you can edit comments! Anyway, interestingly enough, the McDonalds in Belgrade is styled like the city's ubiquitous coffee shops, and serves lattes and frappucinos alongside the burgers. Take a look:
http://www.ekapija.com/dokumenti/McCafe_mcdonald_S ... - ExiL3, on 11/05/2009, -0/+10Nope but McWhale is awesome!
- Kersheh, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9Royal with cheese.
...***** yeah, metric system. - Narishma, on 11/06/2009, -0/+9Well I don't know how accurate this map is. I've been to Morocco and saw a few McDonald's in the big cities but it's marked in blue in that map. I just checked on Wikipedia and it has a different map: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a6 ...
- ExiL3, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9you mean: "Blæcghk"
- ghuytro, on 11/05/2009, -0/+8You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?
- Greg2k, on 11/05/2009, -0/+8Which makes sense because your prices are also higher.
- epitome89, on 11/05/2009, -0/+8So THAT'S why africans ain't fat..
- Truedirt, on 11/05/2009, -8/+15Mc Donald's, fattening the world one country at a time.
- Greg2k, on 11/05/2009, -1/+8Actually, it's spelt "blëcghk".

hi neighbor ^_^ - Eupatorus, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6Yes... that is the ONLY reason.
- xBloodSplatter, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6What do you mean it's not real meat?
- thekronz, on 11/05/2009, -1/+7Really goes to show that McDonald's isn't just a burger joint. It's real estate.
- w3ber, on 11/06/2009, -0/+6same for Romania lol
http://www.mcdonalds.ro/ - kuett, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6the map has an error
there is McDonald's in Romania
100% info - aerospacemonkey, on 11/05/2009, -1/+7FTFA: "For a kilo of onion, imported from Germany, I'm paying the equivalent of a bottle of good whisky,"
Sounds like a good time to introduce the McWhisky burger. If it existed, I might actually buy something the next time I'm inside a McFatty D's, instead of just going in to use the washroom. - bigtymer1, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5McD's pulling out??? Ineffective birth control.
- saikyan, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5RTFA.
- MeccaYdna, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4Just because the store is called the same name (and upwardsly owned by the same megacorporation) doesn't mean it's cookie-cutter food exactly alike to what we have available locally. Even within the united states there's quite a bit of difference between different regions and what their franchises carry. For instance many of the coastal regions offer fish as the primary sandwich, instead of burgers (they still have burgers too, just like other regions have fish, but the roles are switched).
- RedSaint, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4Haha.. By bying burgers at McD in Denmark we help pay every medical bill in the country - feels good man.
Also because of our somewhat "strict" laws regarding saturated fats and such, we have the healthiest fast food chains in the world. Just saying. - jtens, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Cuba has a McDonald's? What?
- nkovacs, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Reminds me of Thomas Friedman's Golden Arches Theory that no two countries that both had a McDonald's have ever fought a war against each other. This held true up until 1998 when NATO forces attacked in Serbia.
http://www.nytimes.com/1996/12/08/opinion/foreign- ... - emptyo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4This is why Mcdonalds is one of the most successful real estate investments of all time.
- jchaines, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3Maroc definitely has a ton of them. I wonder how many other mistakes this map has?
- morogolus, on 11/05/2009, -0/+313,358 McDonalds, holy *****. That's a McDonalds for every 22,272 people. Japan is 1:35,377 and Canada is 1:23,723
- Eupatorus, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4McDonald's has ***** food and even ***** service. I don't get why people eat there. Is it purely price and convenience?
- raybury, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3It depends, the Swiss beef "Le M" burger their outlets in Switzerland had early this year were great. Maybe they have really good reindeer or salmon burgers in Norway.
- Nyaos, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4Best McDonalds meal I had was a teriyaki burger in Japan. Good stuff.
- ban1d0, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3What's with the spelling? "Demark", "Seleted countires" ?
Also Iceland is marked as blue, despite being mentioned as 3rd in the most expensive burger.
