Maker's Mark distillery is bourbon lovers' nirvana
news.cnet.com — LORETTO, Ky.--If you're the kind of person who likes to partake in the occasional glass of bourbon, this tiny town might just be your kind of heaven. Loretto, about a 90-minute drive south of Louisville, is home to the Maker's Mark distillery, a fully functioning facility that turns out thousands of bottles of the booze each day.

- zdevin, on 06/25/2008, -0/+0Myself and other members of BourbonDrinker.com traveled to Kentucky and toured the Maker's Mark Distillery two weeks ago. Daniel obviously didn't receive the tour we did. Our tour guide didn't know squat about making bourbon ("They do something here... but I can't remember what"). I would describe the entire experience as a major dissapointment. The following day our group toured the Buffalo Trace Distillery and I must say, the experience at Buffalo Trace was phenomenally better. Don't get me wrong, the Maker's tour might appeal to some people, especially if you have children in tow (Maker's Mark is the Disneyland of distillery tours). However, if you're looking for an authentic bourbon tour I recommend checking out Buffalo Trace!
