- Egotrippin, on 06/12/2009, -4/+295Stupid west coast with your beautiful weather, sandy beaches and In-n-out burgers.
- asandher, on 06/12/2009, -7/+203Two words: Animal Style
- rayskin, on 06/12/2009, -10/+178Dear In-N-Out please expand to the Midwest so I can give you money. K THX!
- EnTaroTassadar, on 06/12/2009, -31/+178In-N-Out is the best ever. If you've never been to one, it's totally worth a trip out west to find one. Easily the best burger you will ever eat.
Double-double with fries and a Coke and holy crap, you're in heaven. - DreadPirate, on 06/12/2009, -16/+141I'm surprised Five Guys didn't even show up on this survey. They are one of the best burger chains on the east coast.
- kfcurley, on 06/12/2009, -6/+91Five Guys is good, but In-N-Out is really good. What's worse, is that In-N-Out advertises on TV here in Boston, yet the closest one is 1 Day 15 hours away - if you take I-80 West to Utah!!
- diulei, on 06/12/2009, -2/+70You forgot Mexican food and hot women =P
- mxpx5678, on 06/12/2009, -1/+68I live in NorCal and In-N-Out is all over here, yet I have never seen a single commercial for them.
- EnTaroTassadar, on 06/12/2009, -3/+70They won't expand any further because their policy is to never have a location more than X miles from their one, single distribution center.
It's to make sure that everything is fresh, and that it all comes from ONE location, so they can keep a close eye to make sure everything is made perfectly. - AhrenBa, on 06/12/2009, -21/+75I agree that In-N-Out burgers are very good, but the best burger you will ever eat? That might be taking it a bit far. ;)
- sockpuppets, on 06/12/2009, -1/+49So.... open a new distribution center?
- cupajoe60, on 06/12/2009, -3/+49I'm so god damn hungry
- trizzleatl, on 06/12/2009, -7/+47More like hot weather and mexicans
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 06/12/2009, -0/+36They do the same with Sonic too, and there's none within at least a few hour drive of where I live.
- ericcc, on 06/12/2009, -1/+36The In N Out freshness you keep hearing about is no joke. Sometimes I swear my burger could have easily been a live cow earlier that day.
- 1Bad, on 06/12/2009, -5/+39I have never been to Wendy's and now I must try it. What is good there?
PS I used to work at In-N-Out. I hear stories of people working in fast food say they will never eat fast food after seeing how the food is handled. In-N-Out has very strict policies about handling food and cleanliness and to top it off they have the best food, so yea I ate there everyday while I worked there and it was the most wonderful days of my life. - enantiodromia, on 06/12/2009, -1/+32that sounds like a very credible source.
- DraxusD, on 06/12/2009, -0/+29***** you, I'm eating.
- GamerXR72, on 06/12/2009, -3/+28I used to live in California.
In-N-Out is not overrated. They really are the best at what they do. - inyearstocome, on 06/12/2009, -12/+37Aside from In-N-Out, those results WREAK of payoffs. Cheesecake factory? really? No mention of probably the best fast food (burger) place in the US-- Carl's Jr.?
I smell bribery. - Shawn4168, on 06/12/2009, -4/+28a) Why do you need 50 choices on a menu when the 3 or 4 that they give you are done as well as they are?
b) Are you kidding me? Their potatoes are cut fresh, on the spot. How you could possibly prefer the frozen garbage that the other chains give you over fresh cut fries is beyond me.
c) Definitely an exaggeration. Their double double is just as big as any other double cheeseburger. You get a good portion of fries for the price, and I'm pretty sure the shakes aren't "thimble-sized cups". Just because every other fast food joint in america wants to give you the "fatass size" option doesn't mean that they have to.
d) They're extremely popular, therefore you shouldn't eat there???
e) Don't know what to say to that. The employees are great, if the restaurant patrons are pretentious, that's a separate issue. But I'd say that has more to do with the fact that you're in Cali than it does the fact that it's In-N-Out. - withoutasol, on 06/12/2009, -5/+29What? No Carl's Jr.?
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+23That's what Coors said at one time.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -1/+24the one on radnor in north hollywood?
stfu donny - UltraDavid, on 06/12/2009, -1/+24by the way folks, by chilly he means it's been in the high 60s
but yeah, june gloom is annoying - bantamdraper, on 06/12/2009, -2/+25voted best burger to eat after having your car windows smashed because of a failed money recovery from larry sellers.
*****' social studies. - Acksull, on 06/12/2009, -1/+24Well, that's what happens when you ***** a stranger in the ass.
- GamerXR72, on 06/12/2009, -0/+22Yea, this list is fail for not listing Carl's Jr. Double fail for having Whataburger there while NOT having Carl's Jr.
- bdbr, on 06/12/2009, -2/+22The Digg title was incorrect. In-N-Out won best FAST FOOD burger. It wasn't even in the top five for best burgers overall.
- KittySpark1es, on 06/12/2009, -0/+20My fobby Korean friend came into in and out and ordered a burger 'doggy style'. It was so innocent and cute. Everyone around laughed.
- Shawn4168, on 06/12/2009, -0/+18Wendy's isn't fantastic, but it's definitely nice to have every once in a while, especially as a break from places like McDonald's and Burger King. Like In-N-Out, they don't freeze their beef, which is nice. Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is great for eating on the cheap, their Single/Double/Triple burgers are quite good, their Spicy Chicken Sandwich is pretty awesome, the chili's good, cheese & bacon baked potato's good, and of course, you have to try a Frosty. Chocolate's the classic flavor, although vanilla's not bad either.
- jmferris, on 06/12/2009, -15/+32As someone who has eaten at both on a regular basis, I would say that Five Guys is the best in the country. In-N-Out is too over-hyped. Is it good? Yes. Is it great? Not by me (or my wife, who is from California and used to preach In-N-Out).
Best burger is still the one that comes off my grill (with 5 Guys for the chain variety), and the best fries are Thrasher's on the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland. - 1Bad, on 06/12/2009, -3/+19"c) The portions are TINY. A 4x4 burger is about the size of a quarter pounder from McDonald's or a single patty burger at your local food dispensary. The shakes come in thimble-sized cups. The fries are served in old-style fry-boats which would hold condiments at restaurants."
Dude, you must be really fat to complain about a hamburger with two patties, a shake and a tray of fries not being enough food.
"e) The pretentiousness. They're rated the best and they, and their clientele, know it. It's like Apple users before Apple went more mainstream. Insufferable."
The employees are courteous, clean and well trained. There are inspectors that go to each In-N-Out every few months to observe how the place is being run and ensure every policy is being followed. The place is run extremely well. If you take good service for pretentiousness then I suggest McDonalds. Most people there hate their jobs and aren't happy to serve you. - Chahrlie5, on 06/12/2009, -3/+19Also forgot high taxes and broke ass government.
- corywingerter, on 06/12/2009, -0/+16That's Sonic's plan. They heavily advertise for 3-4 years in a market before they enter it. They build up tremendous anticipation. And it works. I'm in nyc and i'm DYING for a Sonic.
- TurdFaceManLove, on 06/12/2009, -7/+23I was standing in a huge line full of smelly cosplayers to see Star Wars Ep. III (i know, it sucked) at one of the Mann Theatres but, decided to eat at the In-N-Out burger joint on the corner before doing so. Needless to say I lost my place in line and the contents of my bowels shortly afterward. The name is aptly chosen.
- schplat, on 06/12/2009, -6/+22Wow you're retarded.
a) They do two things, and they do it very well. Burgers and Fries. If you want something else, go somewhere else. Having such a limited selection also allows them to keep costs low.
b) Your taste buds are spoiled on frozen, manufactured food covered in preservatives. Their fries are by far better than most places, simply because they're fresh. They'll also make them to order, so you can order them crispy if you like.
c) Their patties are 1/8th pound. a 4x4 is roughly equivalent to a double QP. Their shakes are 15oz IIRC, why do you need to drink a meal with your meal? Who cares if the fries are in a boat or carton? That matters?
d) Again, a testament to just how wrong you might be.
e) uhm...lol? - Sfenton, on 06/12/2009, -0/+16It's called a 4x4, noob.
- inactive, on 06/12/2009, -1/+16The weather here sucks.
It's been nearly an entire month of dark clouds hanging over LA. And it's chilly. - norman619, on 06/12/2009, -1/+15I miss In N Out. I haven't seen one since I left San Diego, CA 4 years ago. No other place comes close to their burgers. Their shakes are damn good too.
- bdbr, on 06/12/2009, -2/+15Chesecake Factory..in a fast food survey?
- Rivetgeek, on 06/12/2009, -3/+16") The portions are TINY. A 4x4 burger is about the size of a quarter pounder from McDonald's or a single patty burger at your local food dispensary. Im just gonna go out on a limb here and suggest you might just be a giant lardass. - xDynaBlade, on 06/12/2009, -3/+16If you want to pay for the gas it would take me to travel about 4000 miles to and from the closest In-N-Out, I will totally go get that burger.
- EvilFerret, on 06/12/2009, -0/+13Five Guys definitely has good burgers, the portions on their fries are absolutely insane....NEVER order more than one fry unless you're in a group of over 10 people because you'll never finish them. The business side of me always wonders how much they would save if they cut their portions sizes in half (which would still be about equivalent to about 10 SuperSize McDonalds fries). Sure fries are no doubt cheap to make, but that has got to add up....
- convergent, on 06/12/2009, -4/+17Fuddruckers has nothing on In-N-Out.
- bjcrowe, on 06/12/2009, -0/+13Those are good burgers, Walter.
- EnTaroTassadar, on 06/12/2009, -2/+14Giggity.
- scubachef11, on 06/12/2009, -0/+12Dispensary -> In and Out -> Beaches
- BIOHazard87, on 06/12/2009, -14/+25I've lived near In N Out's my whole life, and have never understood why people say its so delicious. Sure it's good for Fast food, but it's still fast food, and still tastes like fast food IMO.
- hamfister, on 06/12/2009, -4/+15No Fatburger? Travesty!
