- chicagojack, on 01/21/2009, -1/+102the real question is, does alcohol cause positive ice cream tests
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/21/2009, -0/+70No wonder I woke up outside a Baskin Robbins naked this morning.
- mbfielding, on 01/26/2009, -2/+35I always recommend waiting 15 minutes after a meal before blowing.
- Amadeus2490, on 01/21/2009, -0/+30So, if you have a job which requires drug/alcohol testing:
Don't eat anything prepared with alcohol
Don't eat anything prepared with poppy seeds
Don't do cocaine off of the lid of the toilet tank.
And you should be fine. - immatellyouwhat, on 01/21/2009, -3/+31That's what she said.
- floridiot2, on 01/21/2009, -1/+25To be fair he did have a cup of banana rum ice cream.

- jerstud56, on 01/21/2009, -4/+15Awesome. I'm gonna pick a bunch of those up and eat them in my car as I drink and drive. Wooooooo.
"Occifer, OM NOM NOM NOM, I God to swear I'm -*hiccup*- not drinking, it's these -*hiccup*- stupid Bubble O' Bills." - inactive, on 01/21/2009, -0/+10Yes, but his point is, there IS reasonable doubt.

- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -0/+9Ice cream and driving.
- alricsca, on 01/21/2009, -1/+10What amazes me is the dogmatic trust courts have for these devices with no real firm scientific evidence they are infallible. You could get a bad reading from any number of alcohol like substances common to food. There are certain sugar alcohols which will produce huge readings if you consume them but will not cause drunkenness. In fact most sugar free products contain such substances. They need more real life testing to really answer the question of how accurate these our.
Shoot even DNA testing has proven it can be wrong. When a human chimera commits a crime, you can test the person you think did it and depending on what area of the body you test you may get a inaccurate reading. Recent studies show this to be a more common problem that was earlier thought. - mister711, on 01/21/2009, -0/+8That is what Charles Barkley said
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/21/2009, -0/+8Try drinking cream soda that'll really ***** you up

- Nerys, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4EXACTLY because juries are NOT educated on how INACCURATE DNA testing can be. how FALLIBLE it really is.
thats where the word REASONABLE comes into play. - MooseOfReason, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4Driving While Ice Cream?

- IrishSmile, on 01/22/2009, -0/+3Yeah that ice cream bar looks creepy. But what I really came to say is last years my daughter was on UAs and BAs , court ordered, and she drank all the time like a fish, and she never failed any of her tests. I saw her drinking with my own eyes and turned her in, and they made me out to be a nut case because she was never positive. They trust their tests but they shouldn't. They said if she drank she would blow positive for up to 72 hours, but its most definitely not true. Conclusion: My daughter is an alcoholic, young single mother, and these tests don't work. :(
- Miff, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3This article makes me want to go buy 50 of them.
I friggin' love that bubblegum nose. - Gizza, on 01/22/2009, -0/+3"Drink driving" is the term given to DUI here in Australia. Don't ask me why, but that's the way it is.
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3You scream! We all scream while driving!!!!
- PHiZ187, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3I have heard that burping will result in a higher reading (and then you can present the defense that you only registered over the limit because of the burping). However, snopes.com appears to refute this tactic in this article: http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/breath.asp
- apena89, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3In my Uncle John's Bathroom Reader book, it says that Milk causes a positive reading on an alcohol breathalyzer test.
- rokklobster, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2It's better than the Twinkie Defense...

FTA:
"The prosecutor had queried why the machine had recorded a "fail"
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
FTA (again):
"We certainly see them as an effective tool in terms of stopping drink driving."
Drink driving, eh? - inactive, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3There's a thing in law we call "guilt beyond reasonable doubt." If we had to go on absolutes, no one would ever be convicted.
- tony23, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2And don't be diabetic.
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2is it okay if I just wear the shoes then?

- jerstud56, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2You mean it makes them MADD.
- ParanoydAndroid, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2Grampa?
- sherif2, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1A number of foods including certain types of chocolate cake, apple walnut bread, raisin bread, sourdough English muffins, cause the body to produce endogenous alcohol which can give a positive reading on a measuring device. The machine may measure certain metabolic functions as alcohol thereby rendering a “false positive” as alcohol may be generated through metabolism as food converts to energy in the body.
