with nuts.
no, wait, that didn't come out right... forget I said anything. - mrgreenjeans, on 08/08/2008, -0/+154Milton S. Hershey is rolling in his grave.
- Shigglyboo, on 08/08/2008, -7/+160why can't companies just sell decent products? why is high fructose corn syrup (originally created to fatten hogs) the key ingredient in half out food? Sure it's cheap, but it's garbage. People don't want to eat garbage. But it's in nearly everything.
- stattek, on 08/08/2008, -2/+116Only until your thirteenth birthday.
- dickeywayne, on 08/08/2008, -1/+104They know that they've lost the real chocolate connoisseurs to companies like Ghirardelli and Godiva anyway, so what's the use of even trying to make something of quality. Hershey's is going to start tasting like that "wax" chocolate in hollow candy Easter bunnies.
- Vvolf, on 08/08/2008, -17/+116I prefer Dark Chocolate anyway.
- robbh66, on 08/09/2008, -11/+102Comment spam but this story deserves to be buried.
Why? This is the original title "Hershey's "Kissables" No Longer Legally Considered "Milk Chocolate"?"
Submitter intentionally changed the title making it sound like all of Hershey's products are no longer milk chocolate when in fact just one small segment of one of their brands was changed. - rectifier, on 08/08/2008, -10/+97It's about time..
- aznpwnzor, on 08/08/2008, -6/+80"People don't want to eat garbage"
If that was true these companies would not exist. - dannyboy3020, on 08/09/2008, -0/+69"Sure it's cheap"
There's your answer. - FENWAYFREAK, on 08/09/2008, -5/+70It is only the kissables (which aren't even that good). Misleading title.
- djembeplayer, on 08/08/2008, -3/+59Not a real surprise pay attention to ingredients, you'll be surprised how much "other" stuff is in your food.
- robbh66, on 08/09/2008, -7/+44Digg has jumped the shark because ***** douche bags like your self have dug TWENTY SEVEN THOUSAND STORIES in under three months. ***** read something before you digg it, *****. You just do it so people will digg your worthless stories.
Also, "Hershey's "Kissables" No Longer Legally "Milk Chocolate"?" is 58 characters and reflects the article much better. - Alex2, on 08/09/2008, -1/+39Wait till you find out that Soylent Green is now made of High Fructose Corn Syrup!
HFCS!!!!! HFCS!!!! - bipolarruledout, on 08/08/2008, -12/+45Cocoa butter cannot be easily replaced. It has a unique taste and is complex make up of fats that melt at different temperatures and greatly affects the "mouth feel" of chocolate and gives it it's unique characteristic. Enjoy your chocolate flavored hydrogenated oil.
Besides, milk chocolate is for pussies anyway. - Rikkochet, on 08/09/2008, -4/+34When you're driving in your Chevy

- HarrisonBn, on 08/09/2008, -3/+33lol@people acting like chocolate connoisseurs.
- roflbrothel, on 08/09/2008, -2/+32I just placed milk chocolate in my vagina and am experiencing high levels of discomfort.
Milk chocolate is not for pussies. Do not listen bipolarruledout. - wastern, on 08/09/2008, -0/+28I don't know why they spend all this time and money on R&D to make 20 chemicals taste like 1 ingredient. It would seem most things would taste better and be better for you if they just kept it simple. This over-engineering of food needs to stop
- spookyttws, on 08/09/2008, -2/+30Most, if not all of Hershey's products have never really tasted or felt (mouth feel) like chocolate to me. I always assumed I was eating a 'chocolate' flavored wax based product. Then again I've always liked dark chocolate a lot better then any milk chocolate.
- Mootabolife, on 08/09/2008, -0/+24And now McNuggets with real chicken!
- Kral, on 08/09/2008, -0/+24We don't have much of a choice. Try finding soda in America that's still sweetened with sugar. Californians import coke from Mexico because theirs is made with sugar (America importing from Mexico to get higher quality, something I never thought I'd see), and people try and get Dr Pepper from the Texas plant that still uses sugar. It tastes a lot better and is better for you.
- ecidnac, on 08/09/2008, -4/+28This is why I always come home from Canada with a suitcase full of chocolate. Either that, or spend a lot more for the imported British stuff. Eating American chocolate is like eating a brown crayon (that's pumped full of HFCS).
- dickeywayne, on 08/08/2008, -1/+24Just don't mention that "diarrhea" poem!
- ZeroOrDie, on 08/09/2008, -2/+25England chocolate isn't that great either. I come back from Switzerland with TONS of chocolate.
- homah, on 08/09/2008, -1/+23I like my women like my coffee, black and bitter.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 08/09/2008, -0/+22"(it) can’t be called chocolate because it has other stuff in it that’s not permitted by the FDA definitions (like more oil than actual chocolate)."
yuck. - diggdiggerid, on 08/09/2008, -0/+22boy i sure would love to live in your atomless world
- robbh66, on 08/09/2008, -3/+24Wow. I just noticed that you're a retard AND a ***** liar. You removed "kissables" from the blur part of /your/ submit.
From the article:
"The Candy Blog noticed that Hershey's "Kissables" have been reformulated, and can no longer be legally labeled "milk chocolate" because of FDA regulations.
Did you remove that part too because it "wouldn't fit" either? Please, explain this mishap too. - artofficial, on 08/09/2008, -2/+22What are you talking about? It's completely natural for 13 year girls to be fully developed with a voice like Barry White. I see no problem here.
- KingHarvest00, on 08/09/2008, -4/+24nobody buys oreos for the cookie bits you silly man
- haikuFU, on 08/09/2008, -1/+21That's not true. People just don't pay attention to what they are eating.
My wife and I read the ingredient list on everything, and if it has crap in it, we don't buy it. There are a LOT of companies out there that don't get our business anymore. Or the business of our friends since most of them do the same thing.
Although, I do have to hand it to some companies, I've seen some things cleaned up over the past couple of years. Ore-ida tater tots used to be horrible for you, and they removed all of the crap within the last year. Kraft has taken a lot of the crap out of some of their products also. - jetblackstrat, on 08/09/2008, -1/+19I like my women like I like my coffee, covered in BEES!
- modifiedbears, on 08/09/2008, -2/+20Why? Farm subsidies from the government is why. The U.S. produces nearly half the world's corn supply.
- hurricanewane, on 08/09/2008, -0/+18A man lies after sex with his newly wedded bride.
She sat beside him stroking his ***** so he asks "do you want more sex?" She replies "no, I was just admiring your dick.. I miss mine." - ConfusedCartman, on 08/09/2008, -6/+23I eat Dove chocolate when I want chocolate. That *****'s delicious.
- haikuFU, on 08/09/2008, -1/+19It also has a much higher glycemic index than table sugar, and almost surely contributes to the higher rate of obesity and diabetes in the US than the rest of the world has. You can thank the corn lobby for convince the govt to subsidize corn and in turn drive the prices of HFCS below that of sugar. It tastes terrible compared to real sugar. Don't believe me? Go to a mexican grocery store and buy a bottle of Coke from Mexico that has real sugar in it, and then compare them. You won't drink american Coke again.
- DarkPrincess74, on 08/09/2008, -1/+17For some reason that makes me think of that Simpsons episode when Moe's bar goes swanky. Moe is hanging out with Russian models at a table and then one them is like "the radiation is causing my penis to fall off".
- Altotus, on 08/09/2008, -0/+16The process that Hershey developed for chocolate production is different than traditional methods in that it relied on using sweetened condensed milk in place of sugar and milk. This gave him more control over the production since it kept longer and you no longer needed to rely on fresh product. The result, though, was slightly sweeter and had a more grainy texture. As it turns out, Americans developed a taste for the sweeter and less creamy chocolate, and Hershey achieved his goal of bring chocolate (once too expensive for most people) to the masses.
Over the years, though, they've tinkered with the recipe. It's sweeter still, and some of their products use vegetable fats which mess with the flavor and the melting properties. In fact, the Hershey company is one of the leading proponents of changing the definition of chocolate to eliminate cocoa butter from the ingredients. While cocoa butter gives solid chocolate most of its properties, it's also expensive compared to corn oil and shortening.
I would guess that Milton Hershey probably wouldn't be impressed with the modern version of his chocolate. - Quintessence, on 08/09/2008, -1/+17When you're climbing up a ladder, and you hear something splatter, diarrhea!
- digitalpencil, on 08/09/2008, -4/+20no offense to Americans (i'm not knocking your entire nation simply on your inability to create sweets) but how the ***** you can call half that crap chocolate is beyond me.. and the biscuits! WTF is an 'oreo'?!? like a crunch-creme made from reconstituted carboard..
- NOFXY, on 08/09/2008, -3/+19Switzerland chocolate isn't that gerat either. I come back from Mars with TONS of chocolate.

diarrhea! - Kral, on 08/09/2008, -0/+16It's worse than that, the government also added price supports and import quotas to sugar, raising its cost significantly. Rather than focusing on making corn syrup a competitive option with subsidies, they simply nuked its competition from orbit.
- soomprimal, on 08/09/2008, -6/+21Hey I get where you're going but leave Oreos out of this. There is no better mass-produced cookie to dunk in milk.
- BXRWXR, on 08/09/2008, -6/+20Same here - just like my women.
- fungalboom, on 08/09/2008, -0/+14Note: Hershey's normal milk chocolate bar already feels more like wax than hollow bunnies do. If it were to get any worse, I might have to say it would feel less like chocolate than the rabbits in my back yard -- and eating 12 oz. of them doesn't make my throat sore. ( LMAO!, jk ) But srsly it probably wouldn't.
But then, strictly speaking, this link was to their Kissables. -
