- wjlaw100, on 06/18/2009, -0/+9Might not be a bad thing to do if you're on the equator.

- soccerman90, on 06/18/2009, -0/+8should throw rocks, assuming they are trapped in said glass house
- bromac, on 06/18/2009, -1/+8"cheap mexican sand"
I didn't know sand was expensive, at all. And if this is the case, why the hell is Budweiser, the best selling beer in North America, in a brown bottle? Do they have to use expensive import sand to make them?
Heineken's bottles are green for MARKETING. EVERTHING, from their logo to the umbrellas they give restaurants, is green to fit the brand image. - lilmentor3, on 06/18/2009, -0/+7disagree. Budweiser taste like piss.
- localzuk, on 06/18/2009, -0/+6Nice idea for their next product!!
- UnFriendlyFire, on 06/18/2009, -1/+7That way they call it Heinie.
- STPZ, on 06/19/2009, -0/+6Heineken?! ***** that ***** Pabst Blue Ribbon!
- domaindude, on 06/18/2009, -0/+5Have you been to Holland? You'll find green Heinies in just about every store. The best are the ceramic flip top bottles. Great for refilling for home brewers!
- nepidae, on 06/18/2009, -1/+6Oh I agree with that
- 1x253, on 06/18/2009, -0/+5Skunk... it smells like skunk, not pee. While it's not a particularly good beer, it's not that great either. World class lagers? Bohemia, Harp, etc... but not Heiney.

If you're going to re-submit an old story for clicks, at least make sure your can handle the hits.
For those not able to get to this version of the story, the "original" link works fine. - imautobot, on 06/18/2009, -0/+4I think you just revisited a previous idea. Remember buying soda in glass bottles which you returned to the grocery store so they would be cleaned and reused? What was wrong with that idea?
I don't think you can direct all your rage at Nestle, they are but one of many problems in the food packaging industry. - drgmdp, on 06/18/2009, -0/+4i've read somewhere that the skunk smell is an oxidation effect caused by exposure to light in the bottle (happens in the overhyped stella artois too). anyway, i like heineken. it's not the best beer i've tried, not even close, but for a cheap industrial beer is more than ok
- Klowner, on 06/18/2009, -0/+4..can't take a dump in privacy?
- pitdog, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3now any responsible father, husband should drink a lot of beer to build the new family dwelling and the wife should be grateful for those heroic efforts ;)
- toekneebullard, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3How about a reusable water bottle that doubles as a letter to Nestle, so when you've used the bottle for a while, instead of throwing it away, you mail it to Nestle asking them to stop making wasteful, non-biodegradable bottles that just get thrown away after one use? (Then Nestle throws it away and it biodegrades.)
- imautobot, on 06/18/2009, -1/+4That's so cool, and way ahead of it's time. I would like to see more companies making packaging that can be used in similar fashion.

voice your opinion guys? all you've got to lose is a few seconds of your time - jba68, on 06/18/2009, -1/+3correct
- xtc46, on 06/19/2009, -0/+2Dugg for knowing that dark bottles are better.
Good quality beer also comes in 6 packs with high sides,or cases that have few holes to let light in. - bromac, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2They are building these in Curacao, just north of the Equator in the South Caribbean. No freezing days.
- bromac, on 06/18/2009, -11/+13Fact: You don't find Green Heineken bottles in the Netherlands. They send those to us trendy vain North Americans who care more about how the bottle looks in our hand than how the beer tastes in it.
Same thing with MGD and their "Nothing to Hide" commercials. It's all about the image. Green and clear bottles = Skunk taste from the light. - shadowspawn, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Now that would be bad-ass. And it'd insulate well too.
But you know someone will fill it up with water before stacking it then the first freezing day... - deathcapt, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Came here to say something to this effect. Imagine the drive by on these people's cribs. Shatter your whole house!!!
- nickaster, on 06/19/2009, -0/+2Howdy. I'm the publisher for 3p and want to apologize for the site going down. I wasn't online at the time so couldn't do anything about it. Sorry!
- YZ600R, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2now all homeless alcoholics can build a home and still drink
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2I read that "designed to hold beer and then BURN homes." Is it bad that I thought that was awesome?
- eclectro, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Dennis Weaver (one of the first eco-actors) built his house out of *regular* bottles.

- asnider, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2http://rorr.im/digg.com/food_drink/heineken_bottle ...
- Davrioza, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2Personally think heineken is truely lovely, if you don't like it you are probably some douche dissing lager in general because it's not bitter/ale... Different drinks don't have to be evaluated in comparison to each other... it's like me saying I hate orange juice because coke tastes nicer. Anyway, it's a well priced, value for money lager - you can't expect ***** connaisseur standards...
- Masayume, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1Wow. Old story is old.
- guffly, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1haha that's just plain ingenious.... i've seen beer bottles made into glasses and vases but nothing like this
- mikemehak, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1a glass house with a roof mounted machine gun turret?
- 1x253, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1It's apples to apples. Heineken, Bohemia & Harp are all lagers. I'm not a douche, but you're going around calling people douche; that's kind of douchey in itself, wouldn't you agree?
I re-read my post and I see the confusion; I should have written,"While it's not a particularly good beer, it's not that bad either." or I could have gone with,"While it's not a particularly bad beer, it's not that great either."
Heineken is decent, not beautiful. Bohemia on the other hand is the best lager in the world, IMHO. If anyone out there has a better suggestion, I'd love to learn about it. I always keep my ears open for another great beer or ale to add to my arsenal. - skyred, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1find Heineken Lager near you. htpp://greatbrewers.com/product/heineken-lager
- toekneebullard, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1Just realized I forgot to include the link to the Swobo Bottle. Oops. heinleineken called it.
- 1x253, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1Heineken is decent, not beautiful. Harp is a really good lager, too, but Bohemia is the best lager in the world, IMHO. If anyone out there has a better suggestion, I'd love to learn about it. I always keep my ears open for another great beer or ale to add to my arsenal.
What do you all recommend? - zagatbuzz, on 06/19/2009, -0/+1A creative and ingenious form of re-use. I suppose it was way before its time - which is shame- but there is nothing to stop the idea from coming back and being applied today.
