- johnwes16, on 05/18/2009, -0/+37I don't think anyone ever seriously claimed that a *cup* of coffee was unhealthy... it is when you have people drinking several cups of sugar-laced coffee with enough calories to replace a few days worth of meals that the "unhealthy" factor is presented.
- Braxford, on 05/18/2009, -3/+28 Marge: I'll just have a cup of coffee.
Bartender: Beer, it is.
Marge: No, I said "coffee".
Bartender: "Beer"?
Marge: [slowly] Coff-ee.
Bartender: Be-er?
Marge: C -- O --
Bartender: B -- E --
I like both beer and coffee. Good to hear that at least one of them is "good" for me ;) - inactive, on 05/18/2009, -2/+23This study brought to you by Folgers!
- geodebug, on 05/18/2009, -0/+14I'm not a scientist but I play one on digg.
- inactive, on 05/18/2009, -1/+13Coffee makes me poop.
- DifferentAngle, on 05/18/2009, -2/+13If you drank 2 cups per day, that's like eating a particular vegetable daily because it has so much stuff in it - how can you say that will have zero effect? Especially considering so may trained professionals say otherwise.
Digger logic is retarded. - blipblopblip, on 05/18/2009, -0/+8This is one of those studies that has cyclic results. One moment something is good, next moment it is bad. Repeat.
- cyoder, on 05/18/2009, -0/+7*sigh* So me, then.....
- valmira, on 05/18/2009, -0/+7Anyone know the amount of coffee needed to counteract the liver damage of a vodka tonic?
- laughtears, on 05/18/2009, -1/+8give me a triple shot
- beesaretasty, on 05/18/2009, -0/+7Coffee's fine, but cream and sugar will kill you.
- 2Six119, on 09/10/2009, -0/+6Alcoholics rejoice! ...Just remember to drink coffee too.
- LemonMachete, on 05/18/2009, -0/+6You're pretty ***** hardcore.
- swagv, on 05/18/2009, -25/+30Uh, what complete b.s. Coffee, like tea, is completely irrelevant to your health - good or bad. There are just self-interested people who want you to believe it matters.
Health is this: Exercise, eat a balanced diet, don't be fat, drink only in moderation and, whatever you do, don't smoke.
The rest is irrelevant. - RadiatedAnt, on 05/18/2009, -0/+5Ramen. drink your 8 glasses of water too boys and girls! I learned the hard way (stones)
- Peko, on 05/18/2009, -0/+5So that's like maybe uh, two, three starbucks lattes.
- TheOrion, on 05/18/2009, -0/+5Make up your mind already.
- inactive, on 05/18/2009, -1/+6I see you've played Knifie, spoonie before!
- BabyWookie, on 05/18/2009, -0/+4Why can't you smoke in moderation? Doesn't seem to affect the Japaneses' health very much, even though half of the men over there smoke. The dangers of tobacco use have been way overblown by the anti-tobacco propaganda.
- jimfeet, on 05/18/2009, -0/+4"Coffee is highly acidic"
Wrong again.
"The pH of coffee actually hovers around 5.0 to 5.1 which is more neutral than beer and fruit juice, and similar to carbonated water. It is interesting to note that darker roasted coffees are less acidic both in their flavour profile and in their actual acid content."

Life is too short for bad coffee!(-: - inactive, on 05/18/2009, -0/+4That's not true, my man. The article isn't complete b.s... Actually, coffee has many of the same anti-oxidants that tea has, which are great for you. Additionally, coffee is great before a workout.
- WyldeJ, on 05/18/2009, -1/+5I hate the line: "New studies suggest that..." because the next half of the sentence is ***** and usually contradicts the previous study from an hour ago.
- inactive, on 05/18/2009, -1/+4It wakes me up in the morning w/o 12 tspn of sugar, that's all that really matters.
Knowing its doing some sorta good is always a plus. - suprakl, on 05/18/2009, -1/+4That's not a knife. THIS is a knife!
- Nouman6, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3Search shows 1,865 Pages of 'Coffee' related submissions, 10 a page would leave you with $186.50 (assuming they're all about health benefits)
- Sil369, on 05/18/2009, -1/+4i read ur post as drink ramen
- FirstOne1, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3idk - i'd stick with irish coffees from now on
- egofreak, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3so basically " we ***** up the research. We ignored some variables and made a statement so here is another attempt!"
- Procure, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3Not the same idea. Good health is easy to accomplish when you commit to it. Its the best way to prolong a healthy life and resist chronic diseases like cancer, emphysema, and diabetes.
Those other things are based on stupidity and/or lack of common sense (which I guess could be said about people in poor health). - MalarkeyPN, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3What sucks is that is says french press coffee is bad for you. Something about some chemical in unfiltered coffee canceling out the good cholesterol... I only own a french press and I think French Presses make the best coffee. Anyone know of good "filtered" alternatives to the drip?
- inactive, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3Replace sugar with honey and we're talking meal replacement.
- sidebuster, on 05/18/2009, -3/+6Yeah, and don't forget to not get hit by a car, get shot at, or fall on a nail head first. Oh and about a quadriaphillianzine other ways to die. Bad health is just one.
- falser, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3I am an avid scotch, brandy and cappuccino drinker, and just quit smoking cigars. So it seems I'm doing something right.
- smashblu, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3I'da called em chazzwazers!
- Ventolin, on 05/18/2009, -1/+4I'm pretty sure that even if the "latest research" showed that coffee had horrible, disfiguring long-term effects, coffee drinkers would still chug away.
- derek20cali, on 05/19/2009, -0/+3So you know better than the researcher at Harvard? Give me a ***** break.
- RobotBuddha, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2We? Researchers aren't an immortal group mind that's existed for 100 years.
- smashblu, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2Just because you might get hit by a car doesn't mean you should live unhealthy. Most people don't get in freak accidents so it's smart to be healthy.
- inhaler, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2You can't say coffee is equivalent to water though. I'm curious to see what the negative effects of tannins found in coffee and tea are.
- JYoungest1, on 05/19/2009, -0/+2I get kidney stones regularly too, I just drink a 12 pack of miller lite a night until I'm pissing clear, well i assume I'm pissing clear...I also assume I'm pissing in the bathroom, in the toilet, but I'm usually wrong.
- gnixon70, on 05/19/2009, -0/+2Took me a while to learn to enjoy my coffee without a smoke.
- endgame, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2"like tea, is completely irrelevant to your health"
Wrong, how can a billion Chinese & long living Japanese be wrong? Ok maybe that was sarcasm but I believe that Tea is quite healthy for you particularly green & white. - inactive, on 05/19/2009, -0/+2And why he calling himself "Marge"? This whole case is making less sense by the minute.
- RobotBuddha, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2I actually liked this one, just for mentioning 'why' the older studies were bad. I did a meta-analysis of caffeine studies years ago, and it was amazing how bad most of them were.
- diggdiggerid, on 05/18/2009, -1/+3.....why does anyone care what the studies show? Stop complaining about how often they change. If you want to drink a cup of coffee, go for it, if you don't, don't. jesus.
- diggdiggerid, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2well instead of continually doing studies to come to a valid conclusion why don't we just say that god says its ok/bad for you and that settles that
- Betrayal, on 05/18/2009, -1/+3If i got a penny for every article about coffee's benefits making it on the digg frontpage i could buy a lot of lattes.
- kaffelars, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2Coffee is far from acidic enough to lower the pH of your stomach juices. Also, water is not a buffer (chemically speaking)
- dtcb, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1Now that we are rejoicing, let's increase the fun. Brew a fresh cup of your favorite blend every time you want one, in less than 50 seconds.
