- nesagwa, on 10/21/2009, -0/+54She wasn't looking at beers. She was looking at price tags.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 10/20/2009, -1/+24This is only mildly related to this story but I have to share this with you fellow beer drinkers. I went to the supermarket last week to pick up some Hefeweisen and saw an attractive woman browsing the beer section. She was there a good 5 minutes looking at the various beers and ended up choosing a 12 pack of Natural Ice. WTF! Who drinks that swill?
-End rant - fms45, on 10/20/2009, -1/+17What a collection! I am getting thirsty!!!
- seandfeeney, on 10/21/2009, -0/+16saying cans diminish taste is like saying kegs are not delicious...
- MercenarySlick, on 10/21/2009, -0/+15Only the American beer that YOU drink tastes like urinal water.
American craft brews are the best in the world. More American beers have won in the World Beer Cup in the last few years than German beers.
It's not our fault that people like you choose to drink the mass-produced crap like Bud and Coors. - Capta1nA, on 10/21/2009, -1/+14Cans are a superior container when compared to bottles. Zero chance of light damage (skunking), zero chance of oxidation (wet cardboard taste), less weight (cheaper shipping), and better recycling options. As with bottles however, to really appreciate the beer it should be poured into a glass.
Unfortunately upgrading to canning is too large an investment for most craft brewers. A lot of the craft beer you see in cans comes from brewpubs or new breweries that didn't bottle prior to using cans. Rather than investing in a bottling line, they skipped right to cans (and kegs of course). Kegs are the best though. - Kronos6948, on 10/21/2009, -1/+12You've obviously never tried any microbrews. Hell, even Yuengling tastes good by comparison to the other mass produced *****.
- ImOscar, on 10/21/2009, -0/+11America is arguably the best brewing nation in the world. We make great beers, it just so happens the worst examples are mass produced.
- MoDiggity455, on 10/20/2009, -1/+11watermelon wheat? I'm frightened, but intrigued.
- MadCowDzz, on 10/20/2009, -3/+12The title suggested canned beer is tasteless, but then the description suggests it tastes like metal.
- Pyehole, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8I don't know what beer you've been drinking. There are more breweries on the West Coast than you can shake a stick at and they are anything but watered down and tasteless. Most people who don't like West Coast beer don't like it because it's too strong for them, we have a penchant for heavy use of hopps. (Same goes for Colorado.)
- chriscanada, on 10/21/2009, -0/+8Try drinking beer out of plastic. The vessel in which a drink is served in DOES influence the taste. Glass and aluminum may taste the same or damned close, but plastic tastes like crap.
- seandfeeney, on 10/21/2009, -1/+9clearly you have never tried any Samuel Adams
- DaviDTC, on 10/21/2009, -0/+7If I only knew about the crap beer from other places in the world I would think that too about their beer in general.
- ryanms, on 10/20/2009, -2/+8Dale's is fantastic and I love that photo!
- Kahnza, on 10/21/2009, -1/+7Not a fair study. Buy the same beer in cans and bottles.
- chokeaduck, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5I'll bury your comment for being irrelevant. The three people I know the actual age on Digg, are all in their mid 20's or early 30's. Then there's you. So from my small sample at least 75% of Digg is OVER 21. Also, FYI the drinking age isn't 21 across the world. Buh-bye!
- Headinawheel, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5But a fridge can't keep it colder in your hand, sadly.
- getoffmybridge, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5I'm actually guilty of the same thing, only with Bud light instead. Some times you'll stand there thinking "that looks good"..."oooh, haven't had Sierra Nevada in a while"...."Widmer Brothers and TF 2 sounds fun"....."woah they have St Paulie Girl special dark"...."Sam Adams, no thanks"....."Blue Moon, sucks they got bought out, quality definitely went down, tastes mass-produced now"....."mmm, Labatt Blue doesn't get enough play"......."hardly any pumpkin beers here this year"....."hey, Killian's, hardly see that anymore for some reason"...."not really in a Heine mood"....."don't want anyone to see me standing near the Mike's Hard products, these shouldn't be by the beer"....."Fat Tire, yes. actually no"......."Guiness, don't feel like drinking it all night and it's tough to transition to a different beer when you run out"......."Amstel Light, a taste delight but not tonight"........."been standing here a while, starting to feel like an *****. To hell with it, I'm just gonna grab an 18 of Bud Light and get the hell outta here. Nice, on sale for $14.99"

Respect beer. http://beeradvocate.com/respect_beer/ - zjungleist, on 10/21/2009, -0/+5I am outraged at the lack of Surly.
- JGang05, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4***** off
- Pyehole, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4Clearly you have never been to the West Coast and had a beer so hoppy it makes your ***** pucker.
- pacman122, on 10/21/2009, -1/+5He should be disqualified for buying Miller Lite.
- DrunkenPirate34, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4@charliecharlos
Don't insult the pour man! - DiggMikeS, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4how much for wow gold?
- broncfan23, on 10/21/2009, -1/+5"Do yourself a favor and go drink a Guinness."
Gladly
btw the anniversary stout is very good even if you don't like the original. - aknolp, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4New Belgium, Shiner, Odells, Anchor Steam, etc... there are plenty away from the Canadian border.
- dalittle, on 10/21/2009, -1/+5Only problem with you analysis is that I will consistently pick a bottled beer over a canned one. Bottles keep the beer colder longer.
- Kronos6948, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4Or Yuengling, Magic Hat, etc...
- NYYBronxBombers, on 10/21/2009, -0/+4more alcohol compared to what? ***** macro-brew? try some Double Arrogant Bastard for a high % alcohol beer.
- Vivifyer, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3VB is among the most ***** tasting beer on the planet.

rated at D+ i wouldnt touch it.. even if its free. - CaviMike, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Canned beer doesn't taste like metal. Cans are lined with plastic because aluminum is toxic.
- funk49, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3I went to the UK this year (my first time) and after drinking it there, I was ruined for life. I will never drink it in the US again. It was unreal, I drank it everywhere I went. The US version has real bitter aftertaste that is missing from the British versions. I've also heard that in Ireland, it's even better than in the UK.
IMO, Smithwicks on tap in the US is MUCH, MUCH better than Guiness. - cruik, on 10/21/2009, -1/+4Where's the Rainier!?
- Snoogs, on 10/20/2009, -1/+4I can't say I've ever actually seen Fat Tire in a can-- although I've seen Corona cans at beach front bars where they disallow glass anything.
- escottberg, on 10/20/2009, -0/+3agreed. I don't like watermelon that much, and I usually don't like fruity beers, but this is something I at least have to try.
- Kahnza, on 10/21/2009, -1/+4Drink more beer. :D
- ace429k, on 10/21/2009, -2/+5Guinness is amazing out of the tap. I've had it in a bottle as well, which is still good, but on tap, It's heavenly.
- Pyehole, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3They missed this one: http://www.mauibrewingco.com
The CoCoNut Porter is wonderful stuff. - LonesomeFighter, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3but what if my local brewer was the big brewer like Budweiser?
it aint, but they do distribute the local beers on their trucks in my area. - Pyehole, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Ok mom.
- DrunkenPirate34, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Can insulators, duh! (Note: Neck must be at least 40% Red to use.)
- ZombieKiss, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Thanks dad.
- kernowjourno, on 10/20/2009, -2/+5Mmmm beer. I say leave the cans in the supermarket and support your local pub or watering hole before they are gone.
- lazyslacker, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Old Chub should also be added to this list. Really good stuff.
- Headinawheel, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Agreed. Fat Tire and Firestone are two immediate beers that come to mind - both microbrews that absolutely dominate in the flavour department. Also; Pyramid is just awesome with their seasonals.
- Eurynom0s, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3Apparently it is true that cans used to impart a metallic flavor to the beer, but nowadays they have cans that don't do this. Among the reasons that cans are actually superior is that they are lightproof.
The real reason that there is a stigma against cans is that canning lines were more expensive than bottling lines for the first craft brewers, so they used coming in glass bottles as a way to distinguish themselves. So now people think glass = craft and can = *****. - dalittle, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3when you exclude stuff like bud and coors that are made in 3 hours and are not really beer (like literally), American actually has a great selection of beers.
- DrHoliday, on 10/21/2009, -0/+3probably a college student
