- LonesomeFighter, on 04/15/2009, -5/+88Well I'm offended they pulled the ad. Now BK can't win.
- HAL90000, on 04/16/2009, -2/+49I failed to see anything offensive about that ad. What the ***** is wrong with people being so sensitive over a damn burger ad? Whatever, I don't get it.
- shutaro, on 04/15/2009, -3/+42Would it have made any difference if it had been a tall Mexican wrestler?
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -6/+38they are actually working right now
- mrvanity, on 04/16/2009, -2/+31Mexican here; uhh...I am totally not offended?
What kind of a world is this where you're unable to make a joke about anything anymore? - awhiteflame, on 04/16/2009, -0/+22Actually, being fast food, there is a fair shot that it is made of small Mexicans.
- LargeStack, on 04/16/2009, -4/+25I dont see the problem here.
Is it made by small Mexicans?
Is it made for small Mexicans?
Is it made of small Mexicans?
............ - GMaldonado, on 04/16/2009, -4/+22As a 5th generation Mexican/American this commercial confused me. They talked about Mexican spice but they showed an Italian midget.
- mugrido, on 04/16/2009, -1/+18Sure, I found the commercial hilarious.
I think our politicians have more important things to worry about than a commercial, masking hurt sensibilities behind the use of the Mexican flag. Stereotypes are fun to poke fun at, really. - Torturor, on 04/16/2009, -2/+16People are too sensitive these days
- ethanator1088, on 04/16/2009, -3/+16Did anyone try the new burger out?
- IIAmusedII, on 04/16/2009, -5/+16Burger King es terrible. Las hamburguesas no son deliciosas.
- C0ntraRadical, on 04/16/2009, -1/+12Do any Mexicans on digg want to weigh in with their opinion?
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -0/+11It would have made a big difference. /hardy har har
- pilgrim3970, on 04/16/2009, -1/+12I dunno but at least it isn't that creepy Burger King guy [shudders]
- shaskillz, on 04/16/2009, -0/+10this comment made the commercial 10x more funny to me
- bratterscain, on 04/16/2009, -1/+11Was it the wrestler they were offended about? So promoting Mexicans as wrestlers is not as insulting as promoting Texans as cowboys? They're both seen as heroes, mostly. So wtf is the problem with people?
- SupaFlyTNT, on 04/16/2009, -0/+9He's talking about the ambassador who wrote the letter for them to remove the ad.
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 04/16/2009, -7/+15***** the PC jerks that decided that this was so horribly offensive that it "just couldn't be ignored"; I'm pretty sure they're not above showing commercials trashing America in other countries.
Jorge Zermeno just wiped his ass with the Constitution, specifically the First Amendment part. - lunacraz, on 04/16/2009, -0/+8then the ad wouldnt have made sense ;(
- Tarantulus, on 04/16/2009, -7/+14pussies
- FireSlash, on 04/16/2009, -0/+7Soylent green is PEOPLE.
- tavallai, on 04/16/2009, -2/+9The ad doesn't seem problematic at all, other than implying that Booger King's food might be the least bit edible.
- PatoLucas, on 04/16/2009, -0/+6I'm a mexican living in México, I found the commercial funny and didn't mind it at all, but I can understand why some people felt offended.
The problem a lot of mexicans have against this kind of stuff is that for mexicans stereotypes are very real and we feel them every time we go to USA and Europe.
Let me explain, the texan stereotype is a rough cowboy, but I don't think a texan is treated like a cowboy wherever he goes. Mexicans on the other side are treated like we actually where that stereotype, and the smaller size you are and browner your skin it will be worse. Of course not everybody does it, but sadly enough people do it to make a lot of mexicans sick of it, they get incredibly upset of just seing the stereotype. - MarkOfTheDead, on 04/16/2009, -1/+6It was probably some white lady that laughed at it in front of someone hispanic and she needs to RLY PROVE how racist she isn't by taking offense to it.
That's how the stupid ***** usually is. - inigomntoya, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5My neighbor dressed up as him for Halloween (tights and all).
When he brought his kids around trick or treating, I thought we were being robbed. - inactive, on 04/16/2009, -1/+6how bad is the food in England if you think a burger from burger king is "really nice!"
- freakFlag, on 04/16/2009, -2/+7I bet the complaints didn't originate from any HIspanic person.
- cani, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4Mexican here, first of all, I didn't get offended, most of the people here were not offended. It was just a douch ambassador who cried about the ad, not the entire population, in fact most of the people haven't seen the ad. The problem here is that Americans as always like to generalize. Look, there are douches here in Mexico, but there are a lot of douches in the US, and in the rest of the world too. There's a lot of ***** happening here, I agree that we dont live in a first world country, but there is a lot of ***** happening in the US and the rest of the world as well. You have to understand that the mexicans that you see in your country are the poorest and the most uneducated, that's why they go to your country, but a lot of us actually have a very good quality life, but you always look at the worst of us, like in movies or ads (not saying this ad in particular was showing the worst of us). That's what bother some of us, that you always gerenalize, its like if I said that all your politicans are corrupt because lately i've seen a Governor that was infiltrated in a prostitution ring, another Governor that was trying to sell a seat, etc. Or if I say that all americans are crazy because you like to shoot at people at schools. What im trying to say here is, do not criticize all mexicans, say whatever the hell you want to say about the ***** ambassador Jorge Zermeño or talk ***** about the migrants that take your jobs but dont generalize, there's a lot of good Mexicans that share a lot of similarities with people like you. Thank you and sorry about my long post.
- digitul, on 04/16/2009, -2/+6i dont see what the big deal is. he was dressed as a traditional mexican wrestler. thats not their first ad featuring a 'little person'.
- DivisibleByZero, on 04/16/2009, -2/+6"'Burger King Corporation has made the decision to revise the Texican Whopper advertising . . . out of respect for the Mexican culture and its people,' it said in a statement."
I totally hope they just come out with something 50 times more offensive just to spite the PC assclowns. Midget Pancho Villa firing guns in the air or something.
Or maybe just American burger king employees going to the Home Depot to pick up some day laborers to work in the kitchen. Followed by a sandwich building montage where the Mexicans can't understand the directions for how to make a Whopper since they don't speak English, and they just invent their own. Then when the Border Patrol shows up to take them away, they win them over with sandwich deliciousness and are awarded citizenship. I might actually buy the sandwich if they did something that offensive - inactive, on 04/16/2009, -1/+5boycott the King!!!!!
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4I have never treated a Mexican like a midget wrestler. Just sayin.
- rochae, on 04/16/2009, -1/+5Hope I can clarify the whole issue for what I understand from the Mexican Government, the national flag or symbols are being use and I believe only was in Spain, well that's what I saw the news, the only thing being protest is the misuse of national flag, not the short wrestler, the Mexican law consists basically that the flag, emblem and anthem are national symbols of the country and that this law was established to honor and pay respect to the symbols.
http://i2.esmas.com/2009/04/13/43341/burger-king-- ... - inactive, on 04/16/2009, -2/+6Whoppers are pretty damn good. Stop being a ***** fast food snob.
- gl77, on 04/16/2009, -2/+6ohhh you and you're fake currency......pish posh!
- GordonClass, on 04/16/2009, -2/+6This is just stupid. I have a few Mexican friends and they'll be laughing at this more than me. Is that the best cowboy they could find.
- xsecretfiles, on 04/16/2009, -1/+5The midget and the gringo didn't have sex at the end, I find that offensive....
- inigomntoya, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3made WITH
- blapierre, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4The only good hamburgers in England are fast food burgers. If you order a burger at a sit down restaurant in England you will be served something that sort of looks like a burger but tastes disgusting. I'm not sure if they use low quality ground beef (if it was even beef), mix it with something, or what, but it is disgusting compared to even your average American burger.

1 + 1 = 3? hmmmm - C0ntraRadical, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3"The problem here is that Americans as always like to generalize."
"That's what bother some of us, that you always gerenalize [sic]..."
Among the solid points in your post is some serious, world class irony.
How about we all agree that generalizations should be avoided regardless of the country of origin? - Licurgo, on 04/16/2009, -2/+5i couldn't sleep thinking on this issue

maybe was the gunfire noise - streetrunner, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4EVeryone is so offended by anything. Freedom of speech remember? I cannot wait til I see the day when people's collective identification goes out the door. Just let it be. Be here now with me.
- sindex, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4Maybe I'm an insensitive *****, but I found absolutely nothing offensive about that ad at all. The "little spicy Mexican" pun was a groaner, but funny enough in advertising context.
In fact, ***** Burger King for caving. Not that it matters to me since I haven't eaten Burger King "food" in like 12 years anyway. - donnytomas, on 04/16/2009, -2/+5Plan B: Pregnant teenage Mexican girl commercial.
- inigomntoya, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Well played, sir.
- ryancawdor, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4What protest groups don't seem to understand is that while their action might get the ad pulled, once something is posted to the internet it's exists somewhere FOREVER. Somebody, somewhere managed to capture it.
- inigomntoya, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4No. Its not.
- gl77, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3psssh.............amateur.
