- MsAmberEyes, on 02/02/2009, -0/+44I like to enhance my java by making it Irish.
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -6/+36there is the neat little feature digg has - it's called the reply button. try it out some time.
- thatdumbguy, on 02/02/2009, -0/+22Anyone here drink black coffee? I used to be worse then anyone, I could only drink it if it was very sweet with a ton of cream, I started drinking black coffee and now I prefer it. Maybe I am just a freak, I'm the only one I have ever met that enjoys plain espresso, the people at Starbucks look at me like I'm crazy when I ask for the most shots of espresso they will put in a cup. I recommend trying it black, you might find you like it, if you are trying to lose weight I'm sure it would help.
- Asheis, on 02/02/2009, -0/+17I'm going to disagree with you here, a press is the absolute best way to get the most, richest flavor out of your coffee. I've never had a drip pot of coffee taste anywhere near what my french press gets.
- Patiiee, on 02/02/2009, -7/+23Dunkin Donuts rules.
- macgiants, on 02/02/2009, -4/+19One more tip: buy a roaster and get your coffee beans green. Green coffee beans will last for a very long time, you'll have your own freshly roasted coffee, and the green coffee beans are significantly cheaper than roasted ones (e.g. pure Kona at about $15 lb.).
- isunktheship, on 02/02/2009, -0/+12They grow that in Naboo I believe, it's pretty strong stuff.
- j035u5, on 02/02/2009, -0/+12I'll never understand why anyone would water such a delicious drink down with milk or sugar
- anklesnap, on 02/02/2009, -9/+19HI Leia i'm a coffee addict too...I have like 4 machines....
- bunki8, on 02/02/2009, -0/+10I like my coffee like I like my women...ground up and in the freezer
--tshirt hell (RIP) - BoneheadFarker, on 02/02/2009, -0/+10I like my coffee like I like my women: Packed in crates and shipped from Columbia.
- satchthegreat, on 02/02/2009, -0/+9I like my coffee like my women: no sugar but w/ milk. sometimes i'll put a flavored creamer there instead though. its gotta be hot, so sometimes i put it in the microwave. always 1 minute.
- SirNoobius, on 02/02/2009, -0/+9One more tip: buy a land and grow your coffee beans . your coffee beans will last for a very long time, you'll have your own freshly roasted home grown coffee, and the home grown coffee beans are significantly cheaper than store bought ones.
- f4nt0m4s, on 02/02/2009, -0/+9Roasting your own beans seems to require a lot of work. I've seen people roast beans with a Whirley Pop popcorn popper as well as the old popcorn poppers from back in the day (you need an old one because they have a really high wattage which heats the beans up fast enough).
But from what I have seen, you need to do it outside because it smells. And the whole process requires a lot of extra time...which is cool if you are dedicated. I could see it getting old fast though. - Jektal, on 02/02/2009, -0/+9"I like my women like I like my coffee.... ... COVERED IN BEES!"
- lump1, on 02/02/2009, -2/+10Gee, this advice is soo comprehensive. #2 is "buy whole beans" and #3 is "grind your own beans". Wow, these guys are brilliant writers and advice givers. Next thing you know, they'll suggest that we put garbage in the garbage can! Their insight knows no bounds!
- badave, on 02/02/2009, -0/+8I like my coffee like I like my women: hairless and full of cream.
- big186, on 02/02/2009, -0/+8once you go french press you wont go gack
- KMye, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7Seriously, listen to Asheis...if you have a palette, and you want to do coffee right, press it...throwing it through paper ruins it...if you're not grinding it yourself, just ask whoever's selling it to you to grind it for a press...
- megarobotguy, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7It hides the shame of a bad brew.
- H3LLSL337, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7I like my coffee like I like my women, tied up in a gunny sack on the back of Juan Valdez's donkey.
- TheScotsman1980, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7I like my coffee like my women: in a plastic cup
- matthewf01, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7If you have to use a drip, at least get a washable gold filter - the paper soaks up the flavorful oils in the bean, which is what contributes to the good rich taste of french press coffee.
Also, 'Bodum' is a brand, not a device. Generically, you're referring to a french press. - mmittimm, on 02/02/2009, -2/+9I like my coffee like my women: cold and bitter.
- BlatheringIdiot, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7commute is a bitch, tho.
- JoeCool1986, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7I like my coffee like I like my sex: in the morning and on the kitchen table.
- erikerikerik, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6I was going to comment on this.
I LOVE the aeropress, its a hybrid esspresso / coffee.

http://coffeegeek.com/resources/noteworthy/aerobie - ctabone, on 02/02/2009, -1/+7The article is absolutely wrong about storing coffee in the freezer. You should NEVER store it below freezing.
Water will crystallize in the beans resulting in the breakdown of much of the bean's cellular "framework". This can negatively affect both the taste and the long term storage of the beans if they are thawed and then subsequently frozen again. My credentials for making this statement are three years in grad school biology and one and a half working at a coffee shop. Dark, cool (not frozen), and airtight is the way to go. - ClevelandBrown, on 02/02/2009, -1/+7Hello Leia.
- erikerikerik, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6his info is good.

^ roasters - ParanoydAndroid, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6I like my women like I like my milk: White and chunky
- Asheis, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6I don't know what coffee snobs you're entertaining. I can tell the difference between some drip brewed sludge from foldgers and something locally roasted and brewed in a french press any day.
- valarking, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6I got a French press and when I make coffee for drip coffee people they all remark that it's the first coffee they wanted to drink black.
Having to spend some money on a grinder (a cheap one will do the trick even if it does it poorly) and dealing with a bit of coffee sludge is worth it for the VAST improvement in flavor. - MsAntiSunshine, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6Excellent article.
When I started getting all of my beans locally roasted and freshly ground, the difference in taste was incredible, I thought.
Then I went to my parent's house and tried to drink Folgers for my coffee fix and realized the full magic of my reformed ways. >.< - thushan, on 02/02/2009, -1/+6but those didnt have Leia.
- theholyraptor, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5not sure why someone dugg you down, granted I have no idea if your info is good or not. I would suspect it being good though...
- akatsuki, on 02/02/2009, -2/+7Aeropress pretty much takes care of all our coffee needs.... Cheap and good. Uses a ton of coffee per serving though.
- erikerikerik, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5not really.
- breadfred, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5Please, can you tell me, what does Whitney Houston have to do with a nice cup of coffee? Is she a waitress now? Is she selling cappuccinos at a Starbucks anywhere near you?
- chaiwalla, on 02/02/2009, -8/+13I agree with all of this advice except using a bodum. You can get much better coffee out of a cone drip. Bodum is okay if you know to grind the coffee medium, not fine, but it is not great.
The info about the fridge and freezer is little known and spot on. - diemunkiesdie, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5Is it really that much better? I always thought that using a drip brewer was the way to go.
- DirtySanch, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5If you like cream in your coffee ask for steamed milk or half and half instead of getting the cold stuff on the counter. The steamed milk brings out so much more flavor out of the coffee. I have an old espresso machine that I only use to steam milk, that works too.
- sunburner, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5Haha I love it. Every time there's a coffee article there's at least one comment about how coffee makes someone poop.
I stick with tea. No pooping side effects. - subliminali, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5we have this bad boy at work. The coffee quality isn't perfect since it only takes the preground packets but man is it quick, clean, and perfect if you only want one cup.
I never understood people who brew really high quality coffee in a pot and then drink it over the course of several hours... if you're not drinking it right after you make it then it quickly deteriorates in taste. - rsbryswrrl, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5MMMMMM, good coffee and Bailey's...... My recipe for a perfect morning!
- matthewf01, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5I keep a french press, grinder, and fresh roasted beans (Costco!!!! darkest roast they have) above my desk at work.
Digg me up if you keep personal coffee supplies at work!!! - gameforge, on 02/02/2009, -1/+6> ...than to truck individual beans.
Whoa there, Smokey McStoner. You're approaching redline with the logic (sorry, I'm projecting because I make funny little mistakes like that when I'm stoned).
We can take this as far as you'd like... perhaps you can grow the beans yourself, grind them with your fingers, use renewable energy for roasting them and boiling the water, etc., etc. Or even better - just not drink coffee, and use the time you save to clone Jesus.
Let's think about this - the beans are heavier, but they might have a shorter trip to make. If beans go to one place to be roasted and another to be ground, then that could be one or two trips we've saved. Since they stay fresh much longer, stores might be able to ship and stock in much greater quantities, increasing efficiency further.
Basically, I contend that you don't have remotely enough information to determine which method is more environmentally friendly, or if the benefit of eliminating every last home-roaster in the world would be anything other than insignificant. - sneaker98, on 02/02/2009, -8/+13The jerk store called... they're all out of you!!
- silent128, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5Coffee = amazing. I don't think i could live with out my cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Every time i make it myself it comes out like crap.
