- doublefelix, on 07/06/2009, -3/+27That's a long time to go w/o polishing my Knob.
- frmatc, on 07/07/2009, -0/+17There's something to respect about the fact they are saying it's not ready yet rather than cracking open the next batch early. It's a strong sign that they care about the quality of their product.
- Samadhi007, on 07/07/2009, -0/+16Binge drinking good bourbon is a waste of good bourbon.
- Arsenard, on 07/06/2009, -2/+14The Horror!!!
- badqat, on 07/06/2009, -0/+11It actually is a very fine bourbon.
- pinguinxxx, on 07/07/2009, -1/+11Noooooooooo!!!!!!!
- diggopolous, on 07/07/2009, -0/+10Wow. I guess the fact that they ran out is the best economic indicator I've seen in this recession
- howea, on 07/07/2009, -1/+10thats a really gay thing to say
- sjbdallas, on 07/07/2009, -6/+15Guess I'll switch to weed.
- cawpin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+8I LOVE Scotch but a good bourbon is very nice to have, and much easier on the pocketbook.
- DrummerAndrew, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7Oh, small batch bourbon, how I love thee. I'm partial to Basil Hayden's if I had to pick just one. Knob Creek is damn good, and so are all the one's that start with B.
Did you know that Bourbon is the official spirit of the US? Look it up. - jasonlyvers, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7Totally wrong about the Kentucky requirement, but, we Kentuckians would prefer you keep thinking that...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourbon_whiskey
* Bourbon must be made of a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.[1]
* Bourbon must be distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume).
* Bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels.[1]
* Bourbon may not be introduced to the barrel at higher than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume).
* Bourbon which meets the above requirements and has been aged for a minimum of two years, may (but is not required to) be called Straight Bourbon.[2]
* Bourbon aged for a period less than four years must be labeled with the duration of its aging.
* If an age is stated on the label, it must be the age of the youngest whiskey in the bottle. - SeanRockCity, on 07/07/2009, -4/+10I enjoy knob, but I drink Jack
- JCougar, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6Well, looks like it's gonna have to be Woodfords for the next couple months.
- KarateMedia, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Question: One of my favorite bourbons is Woodford Reserve. I find it to be very smooth and a good one to drink on the rocks. Would I like Knob Creek?
- bwjacket, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Conditioner is bettttterrrrr.
- Styvo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Jack is wack.
- Rethcir, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4You're drinking the wrong whiskey.
- DigDugDigger, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4His name is Jim Beam.
- bixby1, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Yeah, always treated myself to the Knob if something went right in my life, ya know?
- TheSlats, on 07/07/2009, -1/+4*sigh* one of my favorite Bourbons. Guess I should see if I can find it locally where no one has good taste.
- Styvo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3Yeah, after the 2nd or 3rd glass you should really switch to something cheaper.
- cawpin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3Yeah, it actually is. I generally stick with JD, but I have Knob Creek every once in a while.
It's strange to me that the same company owns Jim Beam and calls that their "flag ship" brand. Jim Beam tastes like *****. Even their "cheap" brand, Maker's Mark, tastes better than Beam. Knob Creek is far and away better, even better than my JD I do dare to say. - PowderedToasty, on 07/07/2009, -1/+4mother of god...
- colinmhayes, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3van winkle 12 year is their best, I think.
- goobly, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3Luckily we live in the future and there are dozens if not hundreds of other great whiskeys available.
- Number23, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3I find Knob Creek too sweet.
My fav bourbons
Van Winkle Special Reserve - As good a whiskey as can be found anywhere, but good luck finding some.
Woodford Reserve - A very tasty bourbon and sold at any decent liquor store.
Bulleit bourbon - Eminently drinkable - Babazoz, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3Bulleit FTW.
- ScottyMcBaggs, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3Shampoo is better. It goes on first and cleans the hair.
- chadillak, on 07/07/2009, -1/+4I know I'm getting too old to laugh whenever I see the label at the liquor store, but I still do.
- MattDell, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3I do love me some scotch. Laphroiag is my poison, though. Mmmm....
- JCEEZ, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Switch to Glenfiddich
- colinmhayes, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2no. try Maker's, it's sweet like woodford.
alternately try old forrester, woodford's younger sister. - JCEEZ, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Glenfiddich FTW!
- geodebug, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Currently working through bourbons which are lovely for taking the edge off of the Texas summer heat.
Eagle Rare is my current fave (just add a little ice) but I need to try some others listed here. Guess I'll grab a Knob if I see it in the store. - MikeyToo, on 07/07/2009, -1/+3Personally I find KC a bit harsh. If I'm going to drink a Beam-branded bourbon, I prefer Booker's. Bulleit is pretty good. Maker's Mark is absolutely incredible.
Any of the Heaven Hill products are worse than drinking mouthwash.
If you ever get the chance, I recommend visiting a bourbon distillery. Except Heaven Hill of course.
Maker's Mark Ambassador # 452789 - Barrel # 795266 - inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2I've still got a full bottle. I guess I'll hold onto it just a bit longer.
- ftwb, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2I've got an unopened little 50 ml. bottle I'm willing to sell to the highest bidder.
- KarateMedia, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Sweet, huh? Would you consider it as smooth as Woodford Reserve? I almost picked up a 750 of Knob Creek recently, but decided that I didn't want to drop $30-ish on trying something new, and stuck with Woodford instead.
I'm not a bourbon connoisseur, but I know that Woodford is one of the few that I enjoy drinking on the rocks, no mixer. - comat0se, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2I love pappy's! Their rye 'lot b' is quite tasty too. I also have a bottle of 20 yr old Pappy Van Winkle, which is terrific. I'm always excited by the release of George T Stagg aka The Hazmat every year as well.
- Chinzon, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Give me a Mortlach 16 year old, or perhaps an Aberlour A'bunadh and we'll talk.
- RobbieF, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2eh, just find an old bottle of Jim Beam, keep it in your basement for a few years.. That's what Knob Creek is, anyway.
- wendelgee2, on 07/07/2009, -2/+4yeah yeah yeah, we're all impressed you drank 2/3 of a bottle of bourbon.
jackass. - Styvo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2I like Woodford Reserve a whole lot. Knob Creek is ok, but it is very strong. I am not quite sure what the attraction to this is. Not in the same league as Woodford or Makers Mark when it comes to smoothness.
I am a big fan of Jim Beam Rye. It is hard to find a bottle of rye in this area, and it has a good bite. - screensnot, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2And if pussy tastes like *****, try moving a couple of inches.
- doofusoftheday, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Stone Barrrington is going to be pissed.
- uncoolcentral, on 07/07/2009, -0/+21792 Ridgemont Reserve FTW!
- Fleagleman, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Pffft. Wake me when they start running low on Bushmills.
- daivos, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Life is short. Lighten up. Are you guys also Palin supporters?
- GeorgeWKush, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2I used to think coffee tasted like *****. I used to think a lot of stuff tasted like *****. Quit being a pussy and enjoy it.
