  • MaTT2011, on 10/07/2008, -2/+10I'm sorry, son, but i got as far as that first so called "gaffe" until it became apparent that the creator of this video is absolutely misinformed about Kennedy's role in the cuban missile crisis. The fact remains that Kennedy DID use diplomacy to help end the crisis instead of solely relying on brute military force, there is no denying that. If he means by "gaffe" that Obama didn't detail the entire history of the conflict, such as the missile placements in turkey and subsequent nonsense that occurred, than yah, by that extreme stretch of logic and complete lack of simple human decency on his part, he just might have something there. But all in all; not so much.



    So, yah; FAIL

    Please dont try again.

It's not a gaffe when the apparent contradiction comes from a bit of ambiguity in the speaker's prose; it's when you clearly state one thing while something else entirely is true, like 'I can see Russia from my house', or 'I watched The Great Depression on TV.'

    If these are the worst examples of Obama's public speaking, then he's on very, very solid ground.

    You're welcome to work 0, 10, 40, 80 or any other number of hours a week.

    Why shouldn't Maher take the opportunity to star in a political commercial (on Gaps dime no less) that pokes fun at rednecks who can't separate an average person from an intelligent person who can relate to Americans in any bracket of our class hierarchy?

    That Gap/Saipan lawsuit happened in 1999, Gap settled and AFAIK, now has stricter contracts with their factories now. They require factory workers to be paid at least the local minimum wage, that they be allowed to leave the factory at any time, etc.

    Honestly I didn't really view it as a commercial for gap anymore than MTV telling people to "rock the vote" is an ad for MTV and the way in which they go to exotic islands/beaches, rape the land and leave trash everywhere.
