- larryjr88, on 08/27/2008, -3/+99The tag must have fallen off somewhere between the microwave and the freezer.
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -5/+68 What kind of idiot sends their food back in the kitchen to get spit on because they had a little sticker on the plate. It wasn't Le Circe it was Applebee's, peel the damn thing off and eat your dinner.
- Kellster, on 08/28/2008, -1/+64Going to Applebee's and complaining about the food is like going to a whorehouse and complaining that you didn't feel loved. It's APPLEBEE'S.
- palehorse864, on 08/28/2008, -0/+52It's just a piece of flair.
- AmyVernon, on 08/27/2008, -1/+44At least she knew if the food was still in its prime.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -10/+51This kind of nonsense wouldn't happen at TGI Friday's.
- uncertainty, on 08/28/2008, -0/+38To be fair it might just be this ONE Applebee's. The Consumerist needs to start singling out individual restaurants, rather than the whole company. I can understand if it was a corporate issue, but it sounds like just ***** management and ***** cooking. They should post the location of this restaurant.
- mamasherry, on 08/27/2008, -3/+36let me tell you about a trip to an Applebees, it was the day after my wedding in Goldsboro NC, we went next door to have lunch with my in-laws before we all departed for our honeymoon...the service was horrible, the waiter was unfriendly, when we spoke to the hostess her exact response "You shouldnt come to Applebee's on a Sunday, everyone was out late on Saturday night so they are all hungover"...can you believe that sh*t? I have never eaten at a Applebee's again
- Pssdoff, on 08/27/2008, -1/+34Don't order pasta or vegetables from Applebee's, they are just microwaved and overpriced.
I ate there once and found a tiny caterpillar like bug crawling around on the kale, but at least the meal was comped.
Another time at a different Applebee's I saw more infested garnish, this time there were these little gray spider like mites chilling there on the underside of the kale. That meal could have been comped too, but the girl said "she wasn't going to eat the kale anyway, so what if there were bugs on it?"
That place sucks, don't go there. - Pake, on 08/28/2008, -2/+33Oh noes! A sticker!... Why the hell does that warrant a new bowl? It's just a sticker stuck to the plate. If it was some appendage from a human, a rodent, or something else, then sure, but FFS, it was just a sticker.
- stellarceltic, on 08/28/2008, -0/+24IFH Monday's
- trafficlight, on 08/28/2008, -0/+20Every chain restraurant is like Waiting.
- batmanz, on 08/28/2008, -0/+20Well? Was it past the expiration date?!?!?!
- thesparrowband, on 08/28/2008, -1/+16dude, give her points for being honest. would you have felt better if she gave you the usual "im so sorry sir, it will never happen again" ***** line?
- piratearggghhh, on 08/28/2008, -1/+16Just be glad it's just a sticker...could be a lot worse.
- ehseesea, on 08/28/2008, -2/+17This kind of thing happens in every restaurant, sometimes on accident, sometimes on purpose... That's just something you have to keep in mind every time you go out to eat. Enjoy your dinner!
- JaredXM, on 08/28/2008, -1/+16dude, wtf?
- aussieNickuss, on 08/28/2008, -0/+13I think she's referring to the staff being hungover?
- JohnFour, on 08/28/2008, -2/+15Well at least that girl isn't a freak. Applebee's aside, most of these consumer complaint postings come from ***** who have boring lives.
- ObeseEurotrash, on 08/28/2008, -4/+16Well had the date already been passed?
Anyways ***** cry about it, its a god damn sticker, not a razor blade. - Zarokima, on 08/28/2008, -0/+11You mean those nice ladies don't really love me? :'-(
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+11Am I the only person on Digg who has been to a decent Applebee's?
- nerdherder, on 08/28/2008, -1/+11Amen! I'm glad to know that they have expiration stickers so it lessens the chance of getting rotten food.
- Shady77, on 08/28/2008, -1/+11I'm quite sure they didn't bring back EXACTLY the same food. Two minutes is plenty of time to add a "special ingredient"...
- zerries, on 08/28/2008, -0/+10Guess you've never really eaten at an upscale restaurant. And no, outback doesn't count.
- Owwmykneecap, on 08/28/2008, -4/+14The consumerist, is part of gawker media, a ragtag collection of "blogs" that are actually just journalism under a snazzy web 2.0 look and therefore behave like journalistic integrity doesn't apply to them.
Either you are a professional journalistic outfit with expected standards, or a non professional blogger, not much is expected of. Choose. - S7aind, on 08/28/2008, -5/+15As a waiter, I can safely say I would have done the exact same thing (bring back the same food)
- eltardo, on 08/27/2008, -7/+16If you're eating at Applebee's, you almost deserve to get junk in your food. How that company is in business still, I'll never know. My ex works at one in Spokane, WA and she used to tell me all the time of the ***** that went on in the kitchen. Let's just say that movie "Waiting" isn't that far off the truth.
Applebees sucks. Google it. - WiseWeasel, on 08/27/2008, -2/+11"They agreed, fished out the sticker[, spit in the pasta] and brought the old food back."
TFTFY - thegrantman, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8Fool! Any Applebees' patron knows the sticker is the best part.
- CandidateZero, on 08/28/2008, -1/+9As stated in the headline, the tag is delicious; the "use by" date pertained only to itself. Foolish customer missed out on a rare delicacy!
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9That's what you get when you don't order the riblets basket.
- don2779, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8I managed an Applebees for 10 years. The sticker came from the portion bag that the pasta was in. The pasta gets nuked and then poured into the bowl along with the other ingredients. That is probabaly when the sticker fell off. Most items are pre portioned so the food can be prepared in a reasonable amount of time. Most restaurants of this type do the same thing. The sad thing is that neither the cook, expo, or the server noticed it before it was delivered.
BTW, I haven't been back since I quit. - helenkupo, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8GRIZZLEBEE'S!!!!!!!! YOU'LL WISH YOU HAD LESS FUN!!!!!!
- StolenLamp, on 08/28/2008, -1/+9It really is the worst dude, and Waffle House is delicious!
- dhVyse, on 08/28/2008, -1/+9Yeah really, a less obsessive person would of just removed the sticker, but that is the problem with most of us Americans. Really ridiculous to make such a big deal about a sticker stuck to the bowl... But this is also from a nation that sues first and asks questions later so It's not surprising.
- ldkronos, on 08/28/2008, -3/+11It's just a damn sticker. It was on the plastic bag one of the ingredients was shipped in. Stickers have a way of falling off of plastic bags, especially when subject to cold and moisture.
People talk about how bad it is that kids are kept all sanitized these days, not exposed to dirt, and using antibacterial soap, air purifiers, etc, and how that causes them to be susceptible to illness, asthma, etc. But then, ooooh there's a little sticker in my food. SANITARY ALERT!!!!!!
Edit: Also, who does he know for sure that it was the same food brought back? Perhaps they stole somebody else's order to get him his food quickly and then just delayed the other person's order. - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -1/+8Applebees has ALWAYS sucked. Just say no.
- zerries, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7Wtf is a riblet? That was your first mistake, ordering something that doesn't exist. Your second mistake was going to Applebee's in the first place.
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7Umm..it was a freaking sticker not a finger. Whats the big deal?
- Khangwin, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7um its a damn sticker...it wasn't even touching the food. There are people starving all over the world and if you eat your food because of a sticker than you don't deserve to eat.
- KMartSheriff, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7They actually stopped making the Awesome Blossom (I work at Chili's, go check for yourself if you don't believe me). I know, *****, right? I'm pissed too.
- bluesman3535, on 08/28/2008, -2/+8Applebee's is a glorified High School cafeteria for people tired of Burger King.
- Pusod, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6So tell me... How did that spit taste after eating the second plate?
- Premier, on 08/27/2008, -4/+10Applebee's is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at, their food is terrible
- TD_Birds, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6It's just a sticker... what's the BFD?
- apastafarian, on 08/27/2008, -3/+9I see a Applebee's story, remember the taste of the riblets I had the last time there (and I mean last) and have to throw up all over again. Applebee's is an affront to food.
- chicagospur, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7Yes.
- Blandyman, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6***** you. Not for lying (you're not) but for not quitting when those bastards stopped the awesome blossom.
***** you. - OGKHAX, on 08/28/2008, -1/+6yeah because a tiny sticker on the rim of the bowl is the equivalent of telling them to ***** off.
