- banmeagaindigg, on 10/03/2008, -2/+17Buried for 13 pages. I will not stand for this.
Digg me up if you agree.
Citizens of Digg against excessively multi-paged articles. - psykiv, on 10/03/2008, -1/+13No where near accurate.
Texas BBQ, Kentucky BBQ, Tennessee BBQ, Missouri BBQ, NOTHING ALIKE.
Texans will swear up and down that BBQ = Beef. In Kentucky BBQ = Pork. Just one of the many differences. - faceless323, on 10/02/2008, -3/+14Anyone know of a great BBQ place in L.A.?
- shinguards13, on 10/03/2008, -6/+15buried for being 13 ***** pages
-_- - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -2/+11Payne's in Memphis is a staple, definitely something worth checking out if you are in that city.
- SeaMowse, on 10/02/2008, -6/+14#13 - Bubba's Q in Avon, Ohio. It's owned and operated by a former NFL player - family members work there and he's on the premises daily (super nice guy). Everything on the menu is from family recipes. The ribs are awesome with a kickass barbeque sauce. Actually, this should be listed as #1. :P
http://www.bubbasq.com/ - plainOldFool, on 10/02/2008, -2/+8Those in NYC should check out Hill Country on 26th in Manhattan and Fette Sau in Williamsberg.
- kawaiirobo, on 10/03/2008, -6/+12I have to call BS on the California BBQ place. Good BBQ takes soul.
- Amazetbm, on 10/03/2008, -0/+6Forget BBQ in L.A. Just go to Roscoe's Chicken n Waffles
- AtomicTheory, on 10/03/2008, -0/+6Thank you!
- AgentMull, on 10/03/2008, -4/+9Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas City, KS. Best pulled pork and fries in the world.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -0/+5Lists like these are stupid. This guy picks 12 out of what? Thousands? Like he's been to these places.
My bet is he "picks" the first 12 that pay. - inactive, on 10/03/2008, -2/+6Oklahoma Joe's is second only to Jack Stack in my opinion.....but Oklahoma Joes is so inexpensive it's hard to pass up.
- famousdave, on 10/03/2008, -1/+5I'm here, whats up?
- Gunsotsu, on 10/03/2008, -1/+5The best barbecue places never make lists like these because they're known by their fans and few others. They're dives that have dirt parking lots that fill up quickly and empty just as fast when the meat runs out. They don't advertise, because all they need is word of mouth. They're no nonsense places where you can get the critter of your choosing cooked to an order of perfection that would cause even the most ardent vegan to give up. They're short on conversation and long on people happily stuffing their faces. It is high-art served with a side of hospitality and love.
- AmyVernon, on 10/02/2008, -6/+9Glad the Brazilian bbq got some love on here, and though I'm sure that restaurant in NYC is good, Ferry Street in Newark is awash in Brazilian bbq, probably at much more reasonable prices...
- mlvassallo, on 10/03/2008, -1/+4One Texas joint? ***** this list. Missing Saltlick in Austin, TX and City Market in Luling, TX (quite possibly some of the best BBQ in one area for 100 years...)
- adamcoomes, on 10/03/2008, -1/+4Couldn't agree more. Our office is about 10 minutes from Okie Joe's.. I am so spoiled in KC. You guys have no idea what they are missing out on. You haven't eaten until you've had a jumbo pork Z-Man and fries.
- Jeepy, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Everyone is welcome :)
- sneedo, on 10/03/2008, -3/+6Nice that LC's got a mention, it really is an underrated BBQ joint here, Arthur Bryant's and Gate's take all of the attention away.
- mgenovese, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Rudy's rocks! So does the Salt Lick, Ironworks, Stubb's, etc. (in Austin) To get one mention for Texas...something's wrong with that.
- whahaa, on 10/03/2008, -3/+6#14 Dinosaur BBQ. the ribs are ridiculous. so are the wings, my favorites are the wango tango wings. locations in rochester, syracuse and harlem, ny.
http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/ - bitmanx, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Both LC's and AB's are great places, enough food to stuff you like a cow.. Always nice to hit Rosedale's but I miss lil-jakes downtown since was moved.
- Soave, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Thank you, Jeepy.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -2/+5Spread across 12 pages, ***** that.
- incubowski, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3...and I will
Buzz & Ned's, Richmond, VA! - sneedo, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2lets make this happen indeed, we'll hit Gates and Jack Stack too just to be unbiased.
- ivsciguy, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2This list disappointed me because Arhur Bryant's wasn't on it. I eat LC's and Arthur Bryant's all the time, but I have always liked AB's much more.
- Yookji, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Seriously the best BBQ in town. I think I'll go there for lunch tomorrow.... OM NOM NOM!
BTW, any Richmonders should go to the Second Street Festival this weekend, there will be plenty of BBQ waiting to be eaten. - angrylinuxgeek, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3This post is pretty much the best post on the page. There really is nothing better out there; it's a shame so many people here from California or NYC will never enjoy it.
- quez, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3Oklahoma Joe's is great, but when I think of Kansas City barbeque, I think of Gates', though that could be because I've eaten just about every meat possible smothered in their sauce from my childhood onward.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3if it's charred....you're doing it wrong.
-the south - tippmann1, on 10/03/2008, -4/+6eastern style pulled pork from NC is IMHO the best bbq that money can buy.
- JohnCoyote, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3ditto on NY
- loststar1087, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2the author has clearly never been to north carolina. completely unique style. hurseys or cookout, im tellin ya. bbq sandwitches with coleslaw on there.......damn son. im gunna go get me one right now!
- digidelia, on 10/03/2008, -3/+5wah, 13 pages
/sarcasm - Mononuclear, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3I love Brazilian Churrasco but to put it on a BBQ list is retarded. You can't compare it to American BBQ. The entire concept is different. BBQ is all about the sauce.. Churrasco is all about the meats and has no sauce.
- Smuikas, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Eh, piedmont bbq is better! :D
- eliotmat, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2As a resident of Memphis, TN I can't believe they didn't include Central Barbeque or Corky's...... The list is bogus!
- KyleGoetz, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2mgenovese named nothing but BBQ joints in Austin. Austin has great BBQ, but there are excellent places in Tyler, Fort Worth, and Victoria as well.
- dalittle, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2This guy must be a beginner, as he only has one place from Texas and it is a good place, but there are even better. Smitty's or Kreuz in Lockhart, City Market in Luling, Cooper's in Llano. Most of these places don't even have sauce and you don't miss it. For going out on a Saturday and having a nice evening with a couple of cold ones you bring yourself, the Salt Lick in Dripping Springs is great (although the others win for pure taste hands down). Memphis BBQ is very tasty, and a couple others on the list, but Chicago? California? They make some other types of great food outside of the south, but BBQ is not it. That is like eating Chinese food in Kansas. Maybe it is ok if you don't know what it is suppose to taste like.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2If you move one step away from a state that didn't grow or receive cattle then you don't have good BBQ. That means from Texas to Kansas is the extent of the BBQ territory, anywhere outside that range is *****.
I had that ***** they try to pass off as BBQ in the Carolinas. Would you like some pork with your vinegar. - AbdullahAbuDawu, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3No Kruez from Lockhart, Texas? Freakin buried.
- Gunsotsu, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2Barbecue just about everywhere outside of Texas equals pork. Even here in Alabama, barbecue predominately means pork. But we also do chicken and turkey with our own unique take on cuein', white barbecue sauce.
- Roguecop, on 10/03/2008, -1/+3No Saltlick in Driftwood Tx, no digg. Anybody from or in Texas knows Saltlick should be at the top of any list of great bbq restaurants.
- CrashKC, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2OK Joe's is thirded by me. Dirt cheap and awesome.
Oh, and the fries are amazing in both flavor and sheer massiveness of portion. - KowGawd, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2And this is why we need a Digg Meetup (or Meat-up) in KC to settle this one...
- Mononuclear, on 10/03/2008, -0/+2I met the man several times. It made me cry the first time too.
