- utore, on 01/25/2008, -6/+17Buddy's Pizza serves the best Detroit-style pizza.
- MadFlava, on 01/25/2008, -6/+15Complete with crack and gunshot casings?
- loobis, on 01/25/2008, -2/+16HAHAHA! EVERYTHING NEAR DETROIT HAS CRACK AND GUNS! Originality AND humor. Well done, sir!
- sigsegfalt, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1When I lived in the Detroit area, I preferred Jet's Pizza.
- utore, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2Oh snap! Cottage Inn has that ***** locked down!
- KizardLing, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1You can keep Buddy's.... Give me Cottage Inn...
- bwmdiym, on 01/26/2008, -0/+3I miss it all the south has ***** pizza :-(
- PurpleLatex, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I completely agree about the south having ***** pizza. I will say that Pizza Papalis is the best in the Detroit area even though it is not Detroit-style. Buddy's is great Detroit style. Pizza House in Ann Arbor is best for a late night slice.
- rootneg2, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1If you're ever in Texas, Austin's Pizza (in austin) is pretty good brick-oven midwest/california style. They make a mean slice of BBQ chicken...
It's true though, the south (well, at least Texas..) doesn't really know what to do with a pizza, unless it's some sort of wierd fusion cuisine, like a BBQ pizza or Tex-Mex fajita pizza or something, but then it's not even really pizza anymore. We usually deal with it by drowning the slice in ranch, mmmmm ranch dressing....- bwmdiym, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I am talking more about Georgia and Florida area (Texas Has some bad ass Mexican food going on Pappasitos FTW!) It makes up for bad pizza
- MadFlava, on 01/25/2008, -6/+15Complete with crack and gunshot casings?
- Error601, on 01/25/2008, -2/+57One thing I found traveling around the country is every place has their own pizza and BBQ and everyone else's is not the "real" thing.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -3/+13So true. People get really defensive of their local foods.
And anyone who disses In-N-Out has no soul.- staplez, on 01/25/2008, -5/+3meh, it's about the same as Five Guys.
- gasin, on 01/25/2008, -0/+6I prefer one chick!
- staplez, on 01/25/2008, -5/+3meh, it's about the same as Five Guys.
- Enasni1212, on 01/25/2008, -0/+6Absolutely true, haha. Although as a New Yorker living in New Hampshire, I really am suffering.
I both heartily condone and am made hungry and envious by this article.- Anubis2051, on 01/26/2008, -3/+2New York has the best pizza, hands down. And Staten Island is better than Brooklyn.
- Heywoodj, on 01/26/2008, -0/+3I know exactly what you mean. All I have out here is cooked cardboard with ketchup on top.
In Idaho from N.J .I live in these places so you don't have too. - LifeIsARhythm, on 01/26/2008, -0/+3I grew up on New England Greek, but live in NYC, let's just say I don't miss the greek
- rootneg2, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1what about BBQ chicken pizza?
*head asplode*
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -3/+13So true. People get really defensive of their local foods.
- theshizzler, on 01/25/2008, -2/+10Man, a D.C. Jumbo Slice sure would hit the spot about now. But, when in the D.C. suburbs, it's all about the Ledo Pizza.
/end plug- Slungsolow, on 01/25/2008, -7/+4wrong. it's all about the Italian Store, which has the best god damn pizza in the area. There is NOTHING in DC that is good. It's all over priced and over gourmet... ***** 2 Amy's... ***** Matchbox... what does that leave? Armands?? that's an almost chicago style... Ledo, while edible, is like a townhouse cracker with provolone cheese and sweet ketchup thrown on for good measure.
- Slungsolow, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1almost forgot... the best pizza in the DC area is served from a street cart.. http://www.pupatella.com/
- Scrappy1850, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1the italian store has better sandwiches than pizzas. the napoli and genoa are the greatest two foods ever created.
- bowiestyle, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1They have Political Pizza in DC. Its amazing
http://digitalfuntown.squarespace.com/dft-blog/200 ... - davefin, on 01/28/2008, -0/+1Agreed. There is nothing good in DC unless you're talking $50+ for your meal. No good pizza, no decent hot dogs, no delis, and the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown are a ***** joke.
- zgoos, on 01/25/2008, -2/+5I only do the Jumbo Slice in Adams Morgan. The stuff on U Street is crap.
- vbrtrmn, on 01/25/2008, -0/+5Jumbo Slice in Adams Morgan is required after a night of drinking.
- Scrappy1850, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3U street belongs to Ben's
- cwcentral, on 01/25/2008, -1/+2No thanks for Ledos, 2 Amy's is pretty good. Italian Store is good too, but more basic.
But who cares, I don't live there anymore and none of those beat a NYC coal-cooked slice. - secrity, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Z Pizza
- osbjmg, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Jumbo slice in Adams Morgan does rock. Ledo is part of many Holiday Inn hotels, it's not regional.
- theshizzler, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I know where I'm staying when i cross the country. Though, Ledo does come from this area. Just 15 years ago they were exclusive to DC.
- Slungsolow, on 01/25/2008, -7/+4wrong. it's all about the Italian Store, which has the best god damn pizza in the area.
- pstroll, on 01/25/2008, -28/+3Chicago deep dish is the worst. It's not even pizza ... clearly a pollock is responsible for that abomination.
- HotBaconSauce, on 01/25/2008, -1/+7You even have troll in your name, that's funny.
- KizardLing, on 01/26/2008, -0/+4And he even managed to misspell his insult...
- loungechair, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2"clearly a pollock is responsible for that abomination"
You shouldn't let a fish make a pizza then, *****.
- baalzebub, on 01/25/2008, -2/+14oregano = the ancient Italian art of folding pizza...
give me N.Y. style thin crust pizza & extra pepperoni...- kajoob, on 01/25/2008, -1/+8I was in Tennessee one time and got a slice and a coke. The girls behind the counter had NO CLUE what oregano was. Lesson? Never buy pizza from a redneck.
- laterallateral, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1in-deed.
- rootneg2, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1"is that like ranch dressin'? here hon, i'll give yall some ranch on the side fer dippin..."
-a texan, assuming tennessee has the same sort of rednecks...
- Annibal, on 01/26/2008, -1/+0Oregano (origano in italian) is a spice
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=origano&um ... - McgooglyWoogly, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1calzone = the ancient italian art of folding pizza...
... and i wouldn't call it an art, damn nice though.
- kajoob, on 01/25/2008, -1/+8I was in Tennessee one time and got a slice and a coke. The girls behind the counter had NO CLUE what oregano was. Lesson? Never buy pizza from a redneck.
- cobrapeed, on 01/25/2008, -1/+47I always thought the pizza that was portrayed on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles looked like the best pizza.
- OUChevelleSS, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4Me too! My roommate and I mention that all the time.
- spickly, on 01/25/2008, -0/+5cowabunga
- laterallateral, on 01/26/2008, -1/+4Wasn't that supposed to be Domino's? Looks exactly like it!
Eww.. Domino's. - rootneg2, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2why did they never open up a pizza chain? they could have made MILLIONS!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza, it would have been bigger than Chuck E. Cheese's (or ShowBiz Pizza...)
- daliminator, on 01/25/2008, -26/+12I've found that pretty much any pizza outside New York sucks.
Don't hate - it's the truth.- heysuburbia, on 01/25/2008, -13/+7It is the truth, I'd have to add NJ into that equation. I would say:
I've found that pretty much any pizza outside New York City Metropolitan area sucks.- asskey, on 01/25/2008, -3/+4Definitely true. There is some great Pizza in say Hoboken.
I am also a big fan of Chicago Deep Dish, but cannot compare the two because they are just different foods.
- asskey, on 01/25/2008, -3/+4Definitely true. There is some great Pizza in say Hoboken.
- Paranoidmarvin, on 01/25/2008, -2/+3Some of the pizzas over here (UK) are good.
There is a good local pizzeria where I live, the guys that run it are Turkish - eyefone, on 01/25/2008, -3/+9Never been to Chicago I see
- asauterChicago, on 01/25/2008, -12/+7New York style brick oven pizza isn't pizza. It's a big cracker with cheese on it. Chicago style is pizza, real man pizza:
http://www.viewpoints.com/images/review/2007/276/1 ...
^^ That's man pizza, for men, not that "ooh I like to fold my pizza, plus it's low in calories!" ***** you guys eat. - Zlorp, on 01/25/2008, -6/+12ive found that pizza in NY sucks
ego != good pizza- andrewthrice, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Try upstate NY sometime(Syracuse or Cortland)...I grew up near Cortland, which had like 10 great pizzerias on main st.
- santaliqueur, on 01/25/2008, -4/+9Sounds like you're another one of those "New York and everything about it is better than the rest of the world" people. NY is cool, but it's not the only place in the world. Hop on a plane and check out some other places, maybe obtain a better attitude too.
- Zlorp, on 01/25/2008, -2/+11seriously though, if NY pizza was so good, then why did everyone else in the US change it?
- laterallateral, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Meh, I tend to think anything that comes from a pizzeria in the North-American North East tastes the same. Witch is pretty good.
People have always praised NY pizza but then, I had one of those huge mushroom slices from Caruso's and you know what? Just about as good as any 99cent pizza joint in Montreal. Big deal.
- heysuburbia, on 01/25/2008, -13/+7It is the truth, I'd have to add NJ into that equation. I would say:
- LuckyASN, on 01/25/2008, -2/+2Mirror?
- hadak, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Yes, please.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/25/2008, -0/+6One slice of mirror, please.
- fant0m, on 01/25/2008, -1/+6Dugg because I liked the picture.
- calon9, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Dugg because when I said I'd start my diet this week, I really meant next week.
- heysuburbia, on 01/25/2008, -20/+11NY/NJ pizza is the form of pizza. Everything else is dough, sauce, cheese slop. The end.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/25/2008, -2/+2I thought Italian pizza was the 'real' pizza?
- bxblox, on 01/25/2008, -2/+1u ever had italian non newyork pizza? terrible
- modix, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1There's about 4 or 5 different styles of Italian pizza as well. Sit down and order a pizza in Rome... then go to a fast food pizzeria... they're completely different pizzas. Resteraunts have the Neopolitan style, the fast food is the square-cut, folded, pizza that's close to a panini in consistency. That's just in one block of Rome. Around the country , each area has their special variety of it as well. There is no "real" pizza, just an ideal.
Bread, cheese, sauce, and spices have many many great combinations.
- jj2me, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I was told that in the '50s and '60s the consistency of pizza in NY/NJ was so high because the Mafia forced pizzerias to buy their cheese (which wasn't the best).
A couple of my friends who moved to California order a NY/NY pizza as one of their first meals off the plane.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/25/2008, -2/+2I thought Italian pizza was the 'real' pizza?
- n8r0n, on 01/25/2008, -9/+14St. Louis style is the best, as long as it comes from Imo's.
- almj, on 01/25/2008, -5/+6indeed. It's the square beyond compare.
- positron, on 01/25/2008, -6/+2Cecil Whitaker's, fool! Imo's, Eyemo's, who knows!?
- krazytom, on 01/25/2008, -5/+6Why get Imo's when you can just put nasty cheese on a cracker and have the same experience?
- Pake, on 01/26/2008, -5/+3If I could, I'd digg you into infinity. Everytime I go to STL, it's Imo's every other night and a block of provel to bring back home.
- Aidje, on 01/26/2008, -1/+2I once drove forty minutes for Imo's because my friends told me it was the best pizza ever. It was about the same as the pizza you can get in any bowling alley. If that's a good representation of St Louis style pizza, then I think I'll stick with Chicago.
- Markp487, on 01/26/2008, -2/+4my family lives in creeve coure, and they swear by that ***** imos. It is not only the worst food i have put it in my mouth, it is the worst pizza. I agree with krazytom, it is cripsy thin crust with ***** large cheeze wiz cracker, for 10 dollars.
- cdawzrd, on 01/25/2008, -1/+2Can't find a real mirror, but GCache has it text-only:
http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:http://slice. ...- cobrapeed, on 01/25/2008, -2/+0it is only text, no pics.
- ChromaVita, on 01/25/2008, -9/+7Stuffed crust is the best.
- Paranoidmarvin, on 01/25/2008, -5/+3Man, I am hungry now...
- lpmiller, on 01/25/2008, -5/+61I can't digg this unless the headline is BREAKING: EXCLUSIVE TOP 10 LIST OF SCIENTOLOGY HATING PIZZAS
- Wonderama, on 01/25/2008, -1/+18I'm from New York and lived in North Carolina for a while. Their typical style was to take the pizza box, cover it with something like ketchup, Velveeta and loads of meat, then cut it round and heat it up. Abomination.
- secrity, on 01/25/2008, -1/+3When I was in New York City, I couldn't find any pizza that had any topping on top - it was just just sauce and cheese. No sausage.
- andrewthrice, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I had a few good slices in Raleigh, which were very similar to NY style.
- piofo, on 01/25/2008, -18/+2Oh. An AMERICAN list of AMERICAN regional styles. They also make Pizza in other countries, but it is, of course, American.
- petebot, on 01/25/2008, -1/+5In Poland they put ketchup on Pizza. ***** ketchup.
- RomieZ, on 01/25/2008, -2/+1Lies..although in Poland at a couple of places they served the pizza with steamy extra sauce in a gravy tub and you could apply as much sauce as you wanted on top of your toppings..it was great.
- petebot, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3Dude it's not a lie. I was in Poland visiting my gf's family, and when you order pizza, they serve ketchup and parmesan cheese right along with it. Her family drowned the pizza in ketchup. It was gross.
- RomieZ, on 01/25/2008, -2/+1Lies..although in Poland at a couple of places they served the pizza with steamy extra sauce in a gravy tub and you could apply as much sauce as you wanted on top of your toppings..it was great.
- petebot, on 01/25/2008, -1/+5In Poland they put ketchup on Pizza. ***** ketchup.

- hadak, on 01/25/2008, -0/+9This article is not helping my growing hunger.
- evil-doer, on 01/25/2008, -9/+4when i was in Manhattan a local took me to what he said was the best new york pizza in town. it was the most disturbingly gross thing ive ever eaten. i think maybe Canadian pizza is a lot different or something and im used to that. if you are in southern ontario you MUST try toppers pizza. and of course lots of bacon and mushrooms is the classic canadian toppings
- Wonderama, on 01/25/2008, -1/+3Your "local" friend was dumb.
- ronfez, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2You could also try Toppers in northern Ontario, where it originated. It certainly isn't a MUST try though.
- Slungsolow, on 01/25/2008, -2/+9Old Forge style pizza... itsa not so good.
- footbag01, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Dugg for Ditto!!!
- DonCarcharo, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Yeah I grew up about 5 fives miles from Old Forge (Pittston) and although the locals rave about the pizza it was never my thing. I always preferred New York style or a true Sicilian cut to "tray pizza". That said, Colarusso's (and my personal favorite, Rinaldi's) as well as many of the other places famous for Old Forge pizza do make some good Italian dinners.
- Grok22, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1i grew up in clarks green, and was never that thrilled with the Old forge pizza. Colarusso's is right down the street from me and i was never that thrilled with it either.
- hollywoodphony, on 01/25/2008, -14/+4Why didn't Pizza Hut make this list? Dugg down for not knowing what the ***** you're talking about. I haven't even heard of any of these places. Lame.
- Wonderama, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2OMFG I feel bad for you. Please tell me you're being ironic/sarcastic/inflammatory.
- treas, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3And I, you.
- mnpilot, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I got a laugh out of that...thanks
- Error601, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2There was a time when Pizza Hut was actually good. And then they want for the cheap as possible delivery market. The cheese they use now just tastes weird. Like it's made from whey like velveeta.
- laterallateral, on 01/26/2008, -0/+4er.. you're saying this KNOWING pizza hut pizza dough is made of ground up baby teeth?
- rootneg2, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1pizza hut cheese = Polydimethylsiloxane (degrading to Formaldehyde at 150C)
"A silicone emulsifier (Dow Corning FG-10) is mixed with water to form a 0.05% emulsifier solution. This solution is sprayed on the frozen cheese granules at a rate of 1.75 parts of solution per 100 parts by weight of cheese."- solid12345, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1But it is the best damn tasting Polydimethylsiloxane in America!
- Wonderama, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2OMFG I feel bad for you. Please tell me you're being ironic/sarcastic/inflammatory.
- mofojo, on 01/25/2008, -6/+4Jet's Pizza out of Detroit is one of the best pizza's, outside of NYC. This is coming from a Chicagoan against Chicago style pizza.
- petebot, on 01/25/2008, -3/+8Dugg down for anti-Chicago blasphemy!
- entername, on 02/02/2008, -0/+0Sorry, but Buddy's is a step above Jet's.
- cmdrNacho, on 01/25/2008, -5/+12Oh How i miss thee,
new york pie , with sauce and cheese,
its good with shrooms, sausage and pepperoni,
for one slice i fly miles and miles
your smell and taste drive me wild,
i spit on this ***** california style
only in NY do you get the best pie
just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye
for you diggers go to ny get a plain with cheese
if you don't know, i say digga please - kbull, on 01/25/2008, -1/+11Dugg simply because it is an article about pizza.
- brianboyko, on 01/25/2008, -14/+4Chicago "pizza" isn't pizza. It's a loaf of bread that a tomato sneezed on with cheese on top. Gimme New York style any day.
-- raised Jersey boy
-- moved to Texas
-- AlJohns on Oltorf, Slices & Ices on Guadalupe are made by NYC expats and are a nice alternative if you can't afford the planefare to NYC to get -real- pizza.- boombye, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I live in Chicago and have never had a pizza like that.
- gothrus, on 01/25/2008, -2/+10I'll bring some St. Louis style to the St. Louis Live Diggnation. Who is coming and how many slices can you eat? Imo's or Cecil Whitaker's?
- jcdick1, on 01/25/2008, -2/+2Fortel's. Gotta be Fortel's.
- gothrus, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1Ahhh, good choice. I'll add that to the list.
- kickelephant, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I'd go with Cecil Whitaker's, They are cheaper. The Imo's on on Hampton is the best!
- chall85, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4Fortel's isn't really St. Louis style because it doesn't use provel, it uses mozzarella. But I could be wrong.
- gothrus, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1Ahhh, good choice. I'll add that to the list.
- angelces, on 01/25/2008, -5/+4St Louis style isn't pizza it's sauce and cheese on a cracker!
- Aidje, on 01/26/2008, -1/+2Agreed.
- ubuwalker31, on 01/25/2008, -0/+5Russian dressing on matzah? No thanks. Emo's is a sorry excuse for pizza.
- gothrus, on 01/25/2008, -1/+2HA, I agree but I didn't want to start a war. Actually my fav is Pizza-a-go-go but that's more New York style.
- jcdick1, on 01/25/2008, -2/+2Fortel's. Gotta be Fortel's.
- evanmyers, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1http://duggmirror.com/food_drink/A_List_of_Regiona ...
- eihwaz, on 01/25/2008, -2/+4To sum up the whole article: come here in Italy, and you can have every kind of pizza you'll ever want.
- Scrappy1850, on 01/25/2008, -3/+8BS... italians don't know ***** about pizza.
- jlynas, on 01/26/2008, -1/+0American pizza is a travesty. Proper Italian pizza is genius. You don't know what you're talking about
- Scrappy1850, on 01/25/2008, -3/+8BS... italians don't know ***** about pizza.
- pigboyohboy, on 01/25/2008, -1/+5And when I was a student in Massachusetts in the 80's a bunch of us geeks were sitting around late at night avoiding problem sets when the talk turned to pizza. The self designated New York Advocate announced that the best pizza in the world was available at a place in Manhattan (and it was open ALL NIGHT, like everything in New York), and he was prepared to drive down there that moment to prove it to us. Next thing I know I'm crammed in a car with a bunch of other unwashed nerds staring at the dark windows of a closed New York pizza joint.
So we drove around for a while and found some OTHER pizza joint with the Best Pizza in the World. All I could think was, "We came all the way down here for THIS?"- andrewthrice, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Just get it shipped to you. Never tried the service, and obviously it's nowhere near as good as it would be fresh:
http://iwantnypizza.com/ - EricPeters, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I'm going to guess you went to MIT? Because that sounds a lot like something I'd do...
- Aidje, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2I'm beginning to realize that everyone thinks that their college experience is unique to their college, but that's really not the case.
- andrewthrice, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Just get it shipped to you. Never tried the service, and obviously it's nowhere near as good as it would be fresh:
- bossm4n, on 01/25/2008, -1/+11I've never met a pizza I didn't like.
- zonk3r, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4Come to California. You'll find plenty not to like.
I'm a New Yorker who has lived in CA for the past 8 years. However what you find in CA called pizza is not pizza. It's something else and can be quite tasty but it isn't pizza. Go to NY for pizza.- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1I've found a pizza joint owned by REAL Italians that had some great pizza. I wouldn't say it was made NY style, but more traditional Italian style. I also had a sandwich there called "The Godfather". Probably the best sandwich I've ever had.

- Ranvier, on 01/25/2008, -3/+9Chicago thin is obviously the greatest.
My favorite is from Palermos down on 95th.- cwl157, on 01/25/2008, -1/+4if you talk about Chicago, deep dish is where its at, nothing beats Giordano's deep dish.
- gianttoolbox11, on 01/25/2008, -1/+5Except maybe Gino's East deep dish. Ranvier, I agree, the Palermos on 95th is incredible, the sauce is so sweet and perfect.
- danomagnum, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I went on a trip to Chicago and ate at Gino's east. It was magnificent. Still the best pizza I've ever had.

- modix, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Wow... small world. Palermo's thin crust with Italian sausage is my favorite pizza in the world. The slightly sweet sauce and the nice fennel heavy sausage is heavenly.
- naiku, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2Vito & Nicks does a good thin crust also. 8433 S Pulaski
- djpants428, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I've always liked Barraco's which is also a Chicago thin style, and also on 95th street. I always try to get there when I visit my g'rents...

- asauterChicago, on 01/25/2008, -3/+14Did anyone else notice that the author completely glossed over all the different styles of Chicago Style pizza? He didn't include pictures or anything, all though he did at least seperate the difference between "stuffed pizza" and "deep dish pizza" but he was off the mark about our deep dish pizza. Lou Malnati's and Pizzeria Uno serve Chicago-Style Deep Dish pizza, and it's nothing like "focaccia bread", at all. Maybe if you go to Sbarro's or Pizza Hut you can get focaccia bread type pizza. Also he doesn't really explain what stuffed is and was off the mark, there's no layer of crust at the top of our stuffed.
If you're going to explain the regional pizza at least be accurate before you decide to trash us.- secrity, on 01/25/2008, -1/+2Is the Chicago Uno's pizza the same as the Virginia Uno's pizza? If it is, then it is just a round loaf of Wonder bread with canned pizza sauce and generic cheese on top.
- modix, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3The Uno's and Pizzeria Uno are related by company, but their pizza's are drastically different. The best deep dish I've ever had was the original Uno's right off Michigan Avenue.
- asauterChicago, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4I've eaten at a few of the Chain UNO's in other states and it's similar, but nothing like the original, and it does kind of suck. With the original is it takes an hour to cook. In fact when you go to the restaurant you order pizza first before you sit down, then they seat you and get your drink and appetizer orders. I don't think the same business model would work in a chain, not to mention the equipment and the ingredients would be hard to ship out to everywhere.
- Aidje, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2Corner Bakery has (had?) focaccia bread pizza. That's the only place I've ever seen such a thing. Corner Bakery is a Chicago thing, but somehow I doubt that's where the research was conducted.

I recently found Patxi's "Chicago-style" and it's blown all other pizza out of the water. True Chicago-style or not, I don't know...but it is the best I've ever had. Hands down. And I was a kid that had a lot of pizza in his time.
- mal1964, on 01/25/2008, -0/+5If you are ever in Minnesota we have this place called domino's, its a must have I even think they deliver. Zagat only gave it a half a star. but they must of caught them on a bad day.

- infinityplus1, on 01/25/2008, -1/+8Boston - Pizzeria Regina
NYC - Any one of the local Mom and Pop type pizza joints or if you want big name; Lombardi's or Nick's.
Chicago - Giordano's or Gino's East.
Mexico - Had an octopus and goat sausage (?) pizza. Nice to try but I wouldn't make it a regular order. Octopus made it all too chewy.
Hawaii - What better place to get a Hawaiian pizza then here? Fresh pineapple is guaranteed. And your significant other will love you for it... the fresh pineapple. You know, because... well um, nevermind.
Barbados - The pizza wasn't that memorable, but the place we ordered from was... Pizza MAN DOC!
Beaver Falls, PA - Pizza Dude. Yeah, it was run by a bunch of guys that did the whole "Duuuuuude" thing. Their White Pizza was great though.
Aruba - 1st time I had Goat Cheese Pizza. Ordered a small at first because I wasn't sure I would like it. We LOVED it. We ended up ordering a large w/ mushrooms and pepperoni as a chaser.
I don't really care where the pizza is made, just as long as they make it good.- silverchrysalis, on 01/26/2008, -0/+3ok, what's the big secret with fresh pineapple now?

- footbag01, on 01/25/2008, -1/+3I live 5 minutes from Old Forge, PA. Their pizza is a disgrace. Their crust is too thick, tough and its always very greasy. When I first met my wife, we went to her favorite old forge pizza place to prove to me that it was the best pizza in the world. After we left, she turned to me and said, "you know, your right that pizza sucked."
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+2I hope that wasn't the only think that sucked that night. Zing!

- petebot, on 01/25/2008, -1/+4i'm from chicago. i can't understand why Deep-dish pizza gets all the attention. whenever I order pizza, i get Thin crust. everyone i Know orders thin crust. that ***** is the reAl Chicago pizza in my opinion.
- boombye, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1deep dish or stuffed crust is our best for people who don't live in the city, once people have settled into the chicago scene they eventually seek out the best thin crust which can be a mission for some
- cloudcity, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3I live in Bowling Green, Ohio and at some point we were in the Guiness book of records for the most pizza places per capita.
Here is a quick guide to Bowling Green pizza, should you ever come here to go to school at Bowling Green State University or attend the National Tractor Pull. Also, should for some reason you be forced to choose between those two things, I would suggest BGSU.
On a 1-5 star ranking:
***** Pisanellos Pizza: A BG classic, almost perfect. Not to thick, not to thin, excellent ingredients. Locally owned and operated.
**** Myles Pizza: Thick, gooey, very hard to eat more than three pieces. Another classic pizzeria in BG. Try the Wild West Lover's, it has buffalo meat on it. The sauce at Myles is known for being very spicy.
*** Mancino's: Actually a sub shop, but they make very good ham and pineapple pizza. I enjoy going here for lunch.
*** Luca Pizza at the Mall: Very thin crust, large pieces. Quasi Brooklyn style. On the expensive side, but for some reason I crave Luca every few months.
*** Becketts Bar and Grill: A bar with a pizza oven in the back, very bready, think pizza, great with a Stoli and Coke while you are shooting pool.
** Papa Johns: National chain, I know, but it is decent pizza. I reccomend the baby portabellas
** Pizza Hut: Just found out they don't use real cheese, but the supreme pizza is excellent. Again, the cheese thing is a bit disturbing, may never eat there again.
* Dominos: I will not eat this pizza, tastes like cardboard.
* Marcos: I will not eat this pizza either, tastes like ketchup on cardboard.- andrewthrice, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Yes, Marcos is awful. I live near the Cleveland area...and most of it sucks. Best I've had is in Akron - Mr. G's. Very unique style.
- Elliuotatar, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1If the pizza hut thing is about the polymethyl-slicate thing, then from what I can tell that information turned out to be innacurate. At least at this time. It may have been accurate in the past. And because the chemical was approved for use in food, it may be used in the future. (It makes formaldehyde when heated, which causes cancer.)
- djpants428, on 01/26/2008, -1/+0Papa Johns is not decent pizza, it's like a big slice of greasy petroleum artificial *****
- VeganG, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I didn't know Papa John's has baby portabellas as a topping. None of the ones around me offer them.
- VeganG, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Never mind, I forgot that baby portabella = criminy.
- danpay, on 01/28/2008, -0/+0you forgot pagliais
- kahlessreborn, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Dig for Mention Long Island, though Grandma Pizza is crap.
- GlobalistShill, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I live in Columbus now, but 'Wedgewood Pizza' (aka "Fernando's") in the Youngstown (Ohio) area a few hours away, is my personal favorite. Especially the crab meat pizza. Their sauce is very potent. LOL! I'm pretty sure it would be considered a 'Sicilian-Style' in this list. Youngstown has it's a lot of great pizza places... it has a strong Italian presence.
- IronTek, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Wow! Wedgewood Pizza...there's a name I haven't heard in a very long time!
