- kitsua, on 05/19/2009, -5/+44Really well made vid and nice high-quality too. Look forward to watching the actual program. Anything that educates people about the facts of marijuana is a good thing.
- jgubbe, on 05/20/2009, -2/+34Nancy Botwin is hot!
- DonJohnTom, on 05/21/2009, -0/+25“I now have absolute proof that smoking even one marijuana cigarette is equal in brain damage to being on Bikini Island during an H-bomb blast.”
Ronald Reagan - Winkleman, on 05/20/2009, -1/+24Legalize it.
- Adrnshw6, on 05/21/2009, -0/+21More like flat out lie.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+20Reagan really was a *****.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+18Mr Reagan, a citation is needed.
- bkraj, on 05/21/2009, -0/+17Holy christ I can't believe he actually said that.
Hyperbole much? - okitasan, on 05/21/2009, -0/+17Cool video, the only weird thing about it I see is that it still portrays the stoner with a sort of negative image... look at the cartoon during 1:19. what they should have done is show ALL the types of people who use cannabis, from housewives to doctors, and students to businessmen, instead of just one guy who is sort of overweight, bags around the eyes, and lazy looking.
- chriswastaken, on 10/27/2009, -3/+17It has always been people with power trying to keep their power.
Cannabis (cheaply) replaces many everyday things; ethanol plastics and fuels, certain fibers for use in clothing etc etc.
If you made $10billion selling Product 'A' for a year, then a "new" product was being produced that would replace your product you would do anything in your power to stop that from happening.
I can't blame those who do it because if I were in the same position I would do the same. But the rights of the many out way the personal gain to one. - kitsua, on 05/19/2009, -0/+12Your first sentence describes the true reason behind every war, political movement and religious hierarchy.
- Atario, on 05/21/2009, -0/+12Also, trees cause pollution, ketchup is a vegetable, and giving rich people more money will make poor people richer.
It's Backwards Land! - metalwalker, on 05/21/2009, -0/+11oh and why not have a bacon category as well
- bkraj, on 05/21/2009, -1/+124700 years of marijuana usage with no deaths/serious complications and we manage to decide it's dangerous enough to outlaw in the last 70.
Obviously some real critical thinking went into outlawing it in the first place... - lsloany, on 05/21/2009, -0/+9Do a little research on Harry J. Anslinger and you'll soon find out. Someone needed a little more cash flow for Bureau of Narcotics but at the time it was only concerned with opiates and cocaine. A little help from the press (William Randolph Hearst) and soon he was easily able to convince congress. It's exactly how you would expect marijuana to have been banned, outright lies.
- ryanpoleary, on 05/21/2009, -0/+8Again.
- bkraj, on 05/21/2009, -0/+8That too.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 05/21/2009, -0/+8Rampent xenophobia and racism against Mexicans, so pretty much the same thing that is still going on.
- badwithcomputer, on 05/20/2009, -1/+8looking forward to this new season of weeds. seems like nancy has at least 9 months of immunity.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+6Fitting, he also said “Within the covers of the Bible are all the answers for all the problems men face.”
I don't think he would last long in the digg community. - lamejoketeller, on 05/21/2009, -0/+6buried for woooh dude
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+6I enjoy smoking cannabis.
- metalwalker, on 05/21/2009, -1/+7best part of this video was when i dugg it the second time and digg reminded me. i dugg it twice because i was too busy smoking and forgot.
- Mayday408, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5You've never seen Weeds?
It's an awesome show. Not because it's about pot, because it's ***** hilarious. - fightingforair, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5I love the drugfreeworld.org ad right next to the video.
- JoeB4ever, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5seriously...
Where's this Bikini Island? - inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5You`re such a quitter .
- okitasan, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5Indeed, but I think a lot of the modern world looked/looks to USA for drug policies... If weed were never made illegal and stigmatized in the US, it would probably be as normal to have weed nowadays as it is to have cigarettes
- wizzroom, on 05/21/2009, -0/+5WTF was happening in 1935 in America that our lawmakers decided marijuana/hemp was suddenly useless as a cash crop and bad for people? Seriously...wtf.
- thegallery, on 05/21/2009, -1/+6It's not an educational program... "Weeds" is a drama on Showtime.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4Awesome, but I thought the first documented human use was found in Romania, during the Stone Age, as they found burnt Cannabis seeds in a fireplace.
- BertEatsDirt, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4How is Mr... oh nevermind
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4reality check needed
- IllBeBack, on 05/21/2009, -0/+4I love "Weeds". Started watching it on NetFlix Watch Instantly and could not stop watching until I had watched every episode. Can't wait until June 8 for the new season.
- Talphin, on 05/21/2009, -1/+5Understatement. That's like saying the Sun is moderately warm...
- Canumbler, on 05/21/2009, -1/+5They weren't particularly subjective facts. Just dates and demographics
- matude, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3The plant species itself most definitely appeared first in South Asia, we can track the history of plantation quite well. How some seeds might traveled to Romania during Stone Age is beyond me, as the estimated time the Silk road appeared is around 3000 years ago. In fact I can't find any info about this kind of seed finding fact, so I really don't know what you mean...
- charlietuna, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2Links to commercials should start with a -500 digg handicap.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3Best commercial for a television show ever.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3wood chip industry lobbied for it, too.
- lamejoketeller, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3weeds is like a soap opera that's got drugs in a positive light and doesn't suck
I love it - bryantee, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3Anything that educates anyone on anything at that level of quality is a good thing.
- Philbert, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3You didn't see the big Showtime banner on the upper right?
- bonarez, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3I quit 6 weeks ago, mostly cause I can't afford to smoke with my new job.. but also cause it's been getting harder to come by lately in EU. It's getting more expensive too. The potency has become too 'high' imho as well. It's not the same anymore then when I started smoking about 15 years ago..
Still it is a great show.. - pbrettb, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3well I understand the reason it was outlawed was basically a) it was a great source of non-petrochemical plastic, so Dow was against it, and b) it was a superior source of paper, so William Randolph Hearst was against it.
anything else about it was/is just spin. the thing is, the origininators of the lies at least knew they were lying. - mxxz, on 05/21/2009, -0/+3Well at least they had actual facts based on evidence. Not ***** propaganda.
Putting a little effort into something true > putting a lot of effort into to something that is ***** - VacantThoughts, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2A show about dealing weed could be nothing but comedy. Sure Weeds got a lot more serious during its 4th season but it is still aiming to be a comedy.
- inactive, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_(drug)#Histo ...
- ButterBuddha, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2it seems that they use hemp and marijuana interchangeably in this brief video...
- SystemicThought, on 05/21/2009, -0/+2According to the Golden Globe awards, it's a comedy.
It won "Best Performance by a TV Actress in a Musical or Comedy." -
