- Homerr, on 06/30/2008, -4/+155I know it's the onion here, but why can't organic stuff be without labels in the supermarket and everything else be labeled "With Pesticides", "Preservatives", and "Not Natural"? It's all backwards to me.
- gavinhudson, on 06/30/2008, -3/+90haha... man, my mom used to make the best *REAL* macaroni and cheese. None of this fake neon cheese crud.
- fluidfoundation, on 06/30/2008, -3/+87thats funny, my mom used to just feed my the cheese packet by itself. none of that nutritional pasta for me!
of course, my ***** still comes out the color of traffic cones but thats besides the point. - xenoc1de, on 07/01/2008, -4/+45We should really worry about the bigger issue at hand.

- Thrilltone, on 07/01/2008, -1/+29Given the choice of any meal they desire, millions will select McDonalds.
As absurd as any Onion story. - JBabin3xB, on 07/01/2008, -4/+30powder ***** ftw!
- inactive, on 06/30/2008, -4/+29Mmmmhhh, macaroni and cheese...
- staeiou, on 07/01/2008, -4/+25I personally love stuff that comes out of the boobs of animals. It is called milk, dumbass.
- ModernGeek, on 07/01/2008, -1/+17I learned how to cook, it really isn't that hard. I can now make yummy foods, and girls love it!
- satanatnmtedu, on 07/01/2008, -2/+18If it was truly wonderful, it would simply be white. The color comes from dyes added to the cheese.
- Newsdude, on 07/01/2008, -2/+15I take the macaroni and throw it away, use the powdered cheese on buttered popcorn
- fluidfoundation, on 06/30/2008, -3/+16oh the pain, the PAIN!
- Diggnabbit, on 06/30/2008, -7/+19Organic stuff CAN be without labels. It's the food companies that want to label it "organic." It's not like they have to do it.
(Of course, if they do it, they have to meet certain guidelines.) - hollywoodphony, on 07/01/2008, -1/+12Milk? Boobs? What?
- LowFuel, on 07/01/2008, -1/+12Alton Brown's mac-n-cheese FTW...
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1 ... - Specializedone, on 07/01/2008, -9/+20Amen to that. Organic is synonymous with money nowadays. Stamp something with organic, price it 25% higher, watch it sell. Dont get me wrong, there are some business practices in farming that i dont agree with. But things like antibiotics and genetic engineering can only help overall product yields and deliver a better product.
- brstilson, on 07/01/2008, -3/+14I never could stand "real" Macaroni and Cheese. It was always the artificial bright yellow stuff that tickled my fancy. Then again, I also enjoy Spaghettios cold and right out of the can.
- bloobloo, on 07/01/2008, -0/+10And down your left arm?
- bronxelf, on 07/01/2008, -0/+9@popfrogs You do realize that is not the only difference between kosher and non-kosher foods, right? I mean it's true it's inspected by rabbis, but that's not really what the difference is, nor is it why it costs more.
- tendonut, on 07/01/2008, -0/+9My mom used to make the best FOOD. None of this..fast food crap. Now she quit cooking and hops from fad diet to fad diet, so those still living with her suffer. We've all gained weight since then.
- WhenEyeWoke, on 07/01/2008, -1/+10I love how no one noticed the sarcasm
- tendonut, on 07/01/2008, -0/+8Your right. That is the only reason I am not 300lbs. Cooking yourself is almost 100% guaranteed to force you to eat better...assuming you are not poor. Then cooking can be rather expensive compared to McDonalds...unless you want to eat rice 3 meals a day like most diggers seem to say.
- SteveCUBE, on 07/01/2008, -1/+9I love Annie's organic mac and cheese. I've been eating it since I was a child. It's the best non-homemade mac.
- krnldmp, on 07/01/2008, -2/+10How's the world going to handle it when the average individual finally regains the capacity to gauge the nutritional value or toxicity of food by taste, smell, and color? Some people would be surprised to learn that we've actually gotten thus far by this innate ability.
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 07/01/2008, -6/+13Kraft Mac & Cheese tastes like garbage. Nothing beats delicious oven-baked real macaroni and cheese.
- Ellipsys, on 07/01/2008, -2/+9No idea why this guy is being buried. Every word is true. Back in our grandparents' day nobody considered feeding a cow other cows, or dumping high fructose corn syrup in everything.
- SnowCrashv5, on 07/01/2008, -8/+15I completely concur, macho ***** and republicans and everyone that's "anti-hippie" (to a fault), bashes organic food left and right. Saying that it's a rip off, a gimmick, etc.. but they seem to forget that is what people have generally called "food" for the most of history, even within our parents lives and to some degree even my life up until my teens (and i'm under 30). People act like "organic" is this new fad, when in fact, this fake chemically processed, gentically engineered ***** is what's new.
- ajv570, on 07/01/2008, -0/+7Oh my god.... I had no idea the problem was that bad.....
- 9bpm9, on 07/01/2008, -1/+7I was going to be pissed if this wasn't from The Onion.
- MattB123, on 07/01/2008, -0/+6My mom wouldn't even bother with the "healthy" mac n' cheese (or maybe it didn't exist in the 80's). We ate home-made everything (even home-milled flour in the home-made dough for home-made bread and pizza dough). I thought it sucked at the time but now I wish mom was still making me all that good stuff!
PS - I buy my kid Annie's Mac & Cheese and he loves it. The Kraft stuff scares him. - Ellipsys, on 07/01/2008, -0/+6@Lukesed - You're right, there's no reason to be a luddite. However, there are times when something just works. Case in point, I'm in Medicine. I can offer you two drugs for your condition One is an older, cheaper, more effective drug that you take twice a day. The newer drug, is a repackaged version of the first drug with new binders, costs 50% more, and has more side effects, but you only take it once a day. Which one do you pick? Just because something is newer, doesn't necessarily mean it is better.
- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -0/+5lol...Etchisketchistan
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -3/+8@kevinwiz
Fruits and vegetables did not evolve to be farmed. They are not genetically perfect for the purpose we have given them. In the past, we have remedied this to a certain degree by selectively breeding them, creating artificial evolution. Modifying the genetic code directly is a more efficient of doing this. - JagPop, on 07/01/2008, -4/+9The Kraft stuff is painted with Yellow Dye # 5.
Pour the powder by itself onto a plate and look at it sometime.
Came from a vat of chemicals.
Yellow Dye # 5 is known to cause eczema in lots of people -- kids are people too!
If you suspect you have ingested Yellow Dye # 5 don't panic. It only takes about
six months (no joke) to leave your system.
My honest opinion is that the Kraft *does* taste best though.
Mix in a can of tuna fish to get extra fancy (maybe even a dash of onion)
but don't eat tuna every day (contains mercury). - trezeguet23, on 07/01/2008, -7/+12Organic doesn't mean safer, healthier, or better for you.
- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -4/+9True that, try shopping for Kosher food sometime. Just because some Rabbi waved a wand over it and said a few words the price shoots up 50%. See Hebrew National hot dogs for a great example.
- cyrix, on 07/01/2008, -1/+6Holy ***** blocked and reported. Christ almightly....get some ***** help.
- kevinwiz, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4your sarcasm was not necessary.
- quakken, on 07/01/2008, -3/+7Or you could stop being worried all the time and actually LIVE LIFE.
- oveedrx, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4We gotta take some rage out on our bodies..
Lets goto denny's - bronxelf, on 07/01/2008, -2/+6I'm laughing over the fact that people are arguing about boxed mac and glue. It's still powdered dust and pasta, whether it's organic or not Try making some from scratch with cheese. You know, the grated kind? No powdered, dehydrated cheese food products? Using real dairy products? That's where you can really taste the difference.
- Ramenhood, on 07/01/2008, -4/+8..Is this supposed to be funny?
- hollywoodphony, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4It is Digg, afterall.
- CrackyJSquirrel, on 07/01/2008, -1/+5best invention ever is the Easy Mac.. Mmmmm, 4 in the morning microwave mac-n-cheese...
- jpop, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4Rice? Try ramen... mmm...
- Amadeus2490, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4I lucking fove Alton Brown.
- Myztry, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4Has McDonalds ever used cheese? It's been bright orange crud on the 'cheese' burgers for as long as I can remember...
- tehknotte, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3I just realized that what Americans call "macaroni and cheese" is nothing like what i call macaroni/pasta, what i have been eating pretty much every Sunday throughout my life.
