- uptwolait, on 02/16/2009, -2/+38I'm gonna assume drinking six glasses a day will make me six times more healthy.
- sbcea, on 02/17/2009, -2/+27My doctor said I could have a glass of wine a day ... I figured, the bottle is glass ... so ...
- yocouchdigga, on 02/17/2009, -3/+24wow, you're missing out.
- LoneWolf01, on 02/17/2009, -0/+14A little from column A, a little from column B I'm guessing.
- mmaine, on 02/16/2009, -0/+12I didn't need all 6 :-)
I liked reason #2
"Studies find that people who drink wine daily have lower body mass than those who indulge occasionally; moderate wine drinkers have narrower waists and less abdominal fat than people who drink liquor." - AmyVernon, on 02/16/2009, -3/+15Well, it says "moderate" drinkers, so I'm thinking a big glass of wine also would be just peachy. Woo-hoo!
- Nintendesert, on 02/17/2009, -1/+12A glass of wine and some Vicodin do wonders.
- curtisag, on 02/17/2009, -1/+12Saying you'll never try something is a bit close minded, especially given the health benefits.
- jmhyer51, on 02/17/2009, -0/+8". ... just don't pound the whole bottle in one sitting. "
well god damn it all... - yocouchdigga, on 02/17/2009, -0/+7the problem (for me at least), is that I drink wine by the bottle.
- e2superman, on 02/17/2009, -5/+11Drinking and women at your age are both drugs that you should experience ;).
- cnot3, on 02/17/2009, -2/+8More for the rest of us, at least you'll save some money though. Honestly, I don't know if I can remember having a good time without drugs or alcohol involved since I was 16.
- inactive, on 02/17/2009, -0/+6My 79 year old grandmother has been taking down a glass of wine since goodness knows when. And let's just say that she can walk faster than me, cut a rug better than me, and basically out-youth me. So either that means wine is amazing, or I'm just a lazy slob.
- dpcwarehouse, on 02/16/2009, -1/+6 Well as an occasional beer drinker (2-3 times a month, 1 or 2 beers), I guess I don't drink enough to see the benefits. I will try drinking more and get back to you with the results.
- inactive, on 02/17/2009, -0/+5Too bad one glass just doesn't cut it
- DrLeePhD, on 02/17/2009, -1/+6"A 23 year-old gentleman from PA (US)"
Wow, you're definitely in the minority, or you're trying to get buried. I'm digging you up!
I fully expected it to say "A 13 year-old dude from TX (US)" - Octanum, on 02/17/2009, -0/+5Reuse the same glass :P
- airmann90, on 02/17/2009, -1/+5Amen
- inactive, on 02/17/2009, -0/+4I use alcohol and drugs to have a good time, yet I can still have a great time sober. It all depends on the situation and who you are with.
- inactive, on 02/17/2009, -0/+3Stop stealing other people's stories.

(Just remove the _2 from the link) - clichecow, on 02/17/2009, -0/+3I really have trouble believing that wine is good for your weight. The amount of calories in something is determined by how much it heats up water when it burns. Guess what, alcohol burns REALLY well. Granted, some research has suggested that we don't absorb alcohol calories like we do normal good, but saying that people who drink wine tend to weigh less than people who drink liquor doesn't say much. With the exception of vodka and gin, most hard liquors have a LOT of sugar in them.
The only time you lose weight from drinking is when you drink too much and throw up. - blackfox026, on 02/17/2009, -1/+4You don't need drugs to have a good time, but drugs will turn a good time into a great time.
And Octanum, if you're getting a 'bit of a buzz' from your alcohol then you just aren't drinking enough. - L0NER, on 02/17/2009, -1/+4reason number 7: you get more --tang
- waydee, on 02/17/2009, -0/+3I've seen a few cardiac patients with "Red Wine - 1 glass" written up on their ward drug sheets, seems a few doctors agree.
- Grazfather, on 02/17/2009, -0/+3one reason why drinking 6 glasses of wine a day is good?
Ok! - jcsoc, on 02/17/2009, -2/+5pussy
- inactive, on 02/17/2009, -0/+3Do we need go click through 3 pages for 6 items? That said, I likes my wine.
- GMH24, on 02/17/2009, -3/+6My stats text book used health advantages of wine as a proven case of the famous "correlation does not imply causation" stats slogan. Apparently, supposed health benefits of wine were attributed to the fact that (statistically) wealthier people drink wine, and wealthier people live longer for a variety of reasons, including better health care, and also a generally higher quality of life. So "wealth" was proven to be a "lurking variable" in this case as they say in stats.
- jcsoc, on 02/17/2009, -2/+5pussy
- sonicularulus, on 02/17/2009, -0/+3With today's economy and being a college student, I cant afford wine.
- joe2100, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Waiting for the 6 reasons why smoking a joint a day may do you good.
1. Release Tension (sometimes)
2. Makes you laugh (good for you)
3. Prevents some forms of cancer. (not sure about lung :))
4. Makes everything taste 50x better. (explosions of flavor in your mouth)
5. Gets you closer to Jah. (or your God of choice) //helps atheists understand their science overlord a little better (nature)
6. Helps you attain a better outlook on life (small ***** doesn't matter as much) - kdor, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Some of the comments in the article and here are just plain stupid. I am a poiltically conservative Christian. Nothing wrong with a little wine everyday. You just have to be smart about it. I cannot stand the disorientation of alcoholic haze. Never have. Two glasses make my head start to swim. I don't go there. I do like the taste of a half to a full glass of wine with a meal. It is not enough to alter perception. I can enjoy the flavors. That amount is in the range where there are health benefits and little or no health detriment. I prefer reds and a little champagne every once in awhile (champagne is a gift from God). There are quite a few good tasting sub-$10 red wines out there from CA, Spain, Italy, Australia, Chile, and Argentina. Carmeniere, granache, chianti, temprenillo, sangiovese, merlot, zinfindel, shiraz, and blends. Most of what I buy is in the $4-8 range. Not hard to find. A standard 750ml bottle will last me between 4 and 5 days. I don't buy the big bottles or jugs as anything open longer starts to taste crappy due to oxidization. Boxed wine with the internal bag avoids oxidation, but most are either incipid, rancid or bland. I get bored with the same stuff for too long. There are three or four wines I have found I like, but I get a kick out of trying something new. I never buy more than two bottles at a time. Most of the time just one at a time with whatever spare cash is in my pocket. If I run out before I can get a new bottle, it's not something I have to have. I am diabetic and otherwise in very good shape. 55yo, 170#, lift weights, hike, workout. Wine has much less sugar in it than comparable amounts of grapes or grape juice. A pleasant treat.
- kdor, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Comes down to, 'it's your choice'. Nothing wrong with that.
- ZIRCHxWORLD, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2a glass of wine a day can't be a bad thing my grandma does it everyday
- poogy21, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Can't help but notice that each of the supporting studies mentions only women participants.
- blitz718, on 02/17/2009, -2/+4Actually, it would be grapey
- Square47, on 02/17/2009, -1/+323, don't drink and play lots of video games. I bet they have to pry the chicks off you. I don't think that people down vote him because he doesn't drink. He just comes off as a judgmental prick in this case. You aren't special. A lot of people don't drink. In the case of drinking a single glass of wine for better health... you sound like someone saying, "Vitamins? I've never taken them, never will".
- Kotoyumu, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Question is, whats the best type of wine to drink?
- GMH24, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2that's not what is being claimed. Plenty of foods/beverages have good nutritional stuff in them, but the point is: how do you determine if something has "health benefits"? Statistical studies in most, if not all cases. And how do you quantify what the health benefits are? Stats again. I'm just stating what my stats book said, so you can take that up with the authors if you like, but the point is that if you want to determine what the health benefits of wine are, you'd better be aware of the high correlation between wealth, health, and wine, which, according to my stats book, corrupted the results of the studies that articles like this use for evidence of their claims. Note that this doesn't mean that wine isn't good for you, just that studies don't take into account the lurking variables which drastically skew the results, rendering them no good.
- kayeak7, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2what if i dont like wine?
- agentinfinite, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2How about 1 reason why 6 glasses of wine a day are good for you? That's all I need.
- e2superman, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2I don;t think it was mentioned but this refers to Red Wine (not white). To some this may matter (taste wise).
- PatchesOhulihan, on 02/17/2009, -2/+4Noooooooooooo, drop that bottle, they just discovered that a glass of wine a day causes cancer!
- Smegzor, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2One reason why six glasses of wine each day may do you good. Got it!
- drex8, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Well, I'll give you 1 reason why 6 glasses of wine may do me good.
It makes me feel good. Food tastes better. Girls look prettier. - cyrix, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2Try drinking it by the barrel....hoooo boy.
