- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -1/+32masturbation.
- Shawn4168, on 04/17/2009, -0/+21Our ancestors never would have thought of using olive oil as a stainless steel polish? Those idiots!
- frontaxle, on 04/16/2009, -0/+14"You're soaking in it"
Madge - mattnyc99, on 04/16/2009, -0/+12i don't know whether this gross or fantastic. probably both. i just ran out, so i'll have to stock up...
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -1/+12Lubricant for intercourse.
- notzak, on 04/17/2009, -0/+9Fun fact. Olive oil was a classic lube. Fun fact #2: Olive Oyl's namesake in Popeye was related to Fun fact #1.
- ffoofighter2001, on 04/17/2009, -1/+9this seemed really obvious to me at least...hair conditioner and skin soother were totally used back in ancient times...they didn't have store bought lotions after all
- dse78759, on 04/16/2009, -1/+9Read your old testament. Anointing things in oil was the first thing they did for EVERYTHING. Healing, blessing, polishing the Ark of the Covenant before opening a can of whoop ass on the Philistines....
- Anand999, on 04/16/2009, -1/+9Bacon deep fried in olive oil will make everyone happy, then.
- inactive, on 04/17/2009, -0/+8I prefer the Extra Virgin
- crash331, on 04/17/2009, -1/+8Really digg? This is lame.
- shadebane, on 04/17/2009, -1/+7Olive oil is great for most cooking, chicken or any dry meat, anything Italian for obvious reasons. While loosing weight and craving a snack, dip dried bread in olive oil, cooking vegetables for a meal, or anything in spaghetti. A godsend for great meals, and being healthy!
- LargeStack, on 04/17/2009, -0/+6how could you allow yourself to run out of olive oil
- shadebane, on 04/17/2009, -2/+8Bacon tastes great, but honestly cooking that ***** is a pain in the ass, grease popping everywhere and its bad for you, to me not worth the ***** effort!
And dont try to get your woman to clean that ***** up, cause it doesn't happen. ***** bacon... (may be based on ones own girlfriends reluctance to clean ***** up after you do all the cooking every ***** day for every meal!) - greenlight2001, on 04/16/2009, -1/+7If you take olive oil up to deep frying temperatures, it will set on fire.
- peteinakl, on 04/16/2009, -1/+6That's how awesome bacon is
- maz2331, on 04/17/2009, -0/+5Not at $20 - 30 per gallon.
- danteinferno, on 04/17/2009, -1/+6I'm suprised buttseks didn't make the cut.
- JohnDo, on 04/17/2009, -0/+5not sure if that's part of the Mediterranean Diet.
- immatellyouwhat, on 04/17/2009, -0/+5You mean you're suprised 'surprise buttsecks' didn't make it?
- walrusonion, on 04/17/2009, -0/+5Zing!
- Laminarcissus, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4If you count on olive oil to protect your mouth from snake venom you're going to do about as well as Snakes on a Plane.
- bipolarruledout, on 04/17/2009, -1/+5There is research to suggest that the lack of fats in ones diet can make you fat. Even if it does make you fat(er) it's still much better than eating saturated or hydrogenated fats. A good extra virgin with cracked pepper and some fresh bread is always a treat.
- gixxer600, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4anal intercourse ...shaa zing
- nikoh, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4As long as you're not planning on using condoms.
- colasrtney, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4SHOCKING
- dhughes, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4 If you drive a diesel you probably can.
- immatellyouwhat, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4Haha it says use as conditioner and wrap in towel for 20 min. then shampoo and then use conditioner if needed... what the ***** are you using oil in the first place then?!
- Brassbud, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4These aren't that surprising as they just replaced uses of other oils with olive oil. Also, olive oil is kinda expensive to use as a polish, IMO. I say lets reserve these things for oil we can't make a tasty meal out of.
- LargeStack, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4You sir are so right.
- Laminarcissus, on 04/17/2009, -1/+5Actually greenlight, that's not true. Although extra virgin olive oil has a smoke point of 375 degrees, regular olive oil has a smoke point of slightly over 400 degrees.
Since most deep frying takes place at 365 degrees or below, olive oil is in no way ideal, but it's possible. - pe5t1lence, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4I am pretty sure the "ancients" would have known all of these uses. Hell in the Odyssey and Aeneid, everyone is always getting covered in olive oil.
- Ouze, on 04/17/2009, -1/+4I was expecting buttsecks. Kinda disappointing
- dhughes, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3 They could have polished their flying saucers with it.
- dieboldcracy, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3and we're not joking, are we
- Mipit, on 04/17/2009, -1/+4Actually, any kind of mineral oil, when placed in a ear and sealed overnight can improve hearing. It loosens the hard earwax, and then is naturally removed by facial movements and jaw usage.
Just set your alarm a little louder then normal. - TheSpook, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3I tried margarine once. Not as good as advertised. But OO sounds interesting...
- shadebane, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3hmm yes
- AndrewJC, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Um, why not put a splatter guard over the pan? Then the bacon fat stays in the pan where it belongs, you don't have a mess all over the stove, AND you have bacon to eat. :)
- MacEnvy, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Cook it in the oven on a rack over a sheet pan. The splatters immediately burn off when they hit the sides, and it comes out more evenly cooked and crispier than in the pan.
- audiogeek5, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Olive Oil + Slip N' Slide = Mach 3.
- LargeStack, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Before this hit the front page I was making a midnight snack.
Olive oil and garlic on pasta with a little hot sauce and brie. - Laminarcissus, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Surprise!
- TINZUSA, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3It's also very good for a soothing massage and treating dry wood.
- tonmil, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Great for cleaning your hands after working on your car. Removes the grease without the chemicals.
- walrusonion, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3that's what bacon grease is for
- phillipskinner, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2Super information some laughable comments no wonder oil is good for you untypical of most social networks
Phillip Skinner - piecesofe, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2I love that this is something I just have laying around the kitchen already. It's nice to not have to spend money on a bottle of something for an occasional fix. Then the rest just sits in the cabinet. Multi purpose = saving money!
Erin www.piecesofe.blogspot.com - biocutisblog, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2I, too, love olive oil and use it on my hair, especially in the winter when it tends to be dryer. The results were miraculous but the key is not to use too much. The first time I tryied this I ended up having to shampoo it like 3 times to get it all out. My suggestion is don“t use too much and focus on the tips of the hair.
