- badwithcomputer, on 06/06/2008, -4/+22wtf- no sam adams summer ale? i love that stuff.
- xatrak, on 06/07/2008, -1/+11This is a beer list. There's a separate list for Mexican piss water.
- dleesgeetar, on 06/06/2008, -1/+9never thought about drinking different kinds of beers for different seasons. makes sense though - Sierra Nevada Summerfest is first on my list
- masterm1nd, on 06/07/2008, -2/+9Meh. At least they included Hoegaarden.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 06/07/2008, -3/+9My ideal beer for summer drinking? ... Whatever you just handed me, as long as it's cold.
- Grimulus, on 06/07/2008, -0/+6Yes! Hoegaarden is one of the best beers I've ever had. I wish I could find it where I live. :(
- karmicfreak, on 06/07/2008, -2/+7Bell's Oberon (Kalamazoo, MI) is the perfect summer brew. Served with an orange.
- elizabethb221, on 06/07/2008, -1/+5Boulevard Wheat or Blue Moon is where it's at.
- inactive, on 06/07/2008, -1/+5I like White Ale better then Summer Ale.
- KenOh, on 06/07/2008, -0/+4Hey, enough of your ***** flickr spam.
- MatthewDuke, on 06/07/2008, -1/+4Agreed - though I just finished my last Sam Adams White Ale last night. I will miss you sweet lady and think of you until we meet again. What?
- MattBD, on 06/07/2008, -1/+4If James Bond can drink a Martini, I can drink what the ***** I like too. My personal rule is "Don't drink anything with a parasol in it". Or Bailey's because it tastes like coffee-flavoured snot.
- dontswimtoshore, on 06/07/2008, -0/+3no leinenkugel? c'maaaahn.
- boypdp, on 06/07/2008, -0/+3Amen to that.
- iamnobody8614, on 06/07/2008, -0/+3I have 2 of a six-pack left in my fridge right now :). Also, I think think this list is lacking Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.
- jabberwonk, on 06/07/2008, -2/+5Green Flash IPA
Victory Prima Pils
Troegs Sunshine Pils
Sierra Nevada Fresh Hop IPA
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
all available in case, sixtel or half keg - drexl, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2I agree, drink what you like
The Martini is a mans drink to begin with. The martini has been turned into fufu crap because of things like Sex & the City. I was a bartender for years and after that show came along women were order anything they could find on the internet that came in a martini glass. I don't know how many Manhattans I had returned. They ordered them because it looked "cute" and had a cherry as garnish!
Sorry, I went off topic.
Blue Moon's Honey Moon is pretty good! - FearNLoathing, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2I was kind of miffed that Victory Golden Monkey wasn't on the list. In my book, it is the best summer drinkin out there.
At least Miller Lite didn't make it :P - rockefeller2, on 06/07/2008, -1/+3Yes, one day you will be right up there in the ranks of the most snobbish beer snobs.
- MrMongoose, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2Came here to say the same thing. It's been in the upper 90's the past 2 weeks here in Austin, and Lawnmower really hits the spot, especially if you're drinking outside.
- radarplane, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2If you're from around houston, get some St Arnold's Lawnmower Ale. I like it, but I'm not a beer expert. I'm a "what I like" expert, and I like it. If you make the drive from Houston to OKC often, I'll offset some of your gas costs if you drive me some St Arnold's up.
- dcmusicfusion, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2The omission of the Sweetwater beers from Georgia is traggic. Thats stuff rocks!
http://www.sweetwaterbrew.com/ - jabberwonk, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2Bells has some really good beers. I think my favorite is the Expedition Stout. MI as a state has been rocking it lately with good breweries. Arcadia's Hop Mouth Imperial IPA is great - I just finished up a sixtel of that in the basement. Their porter and at least one other one I've had from them was really good too.
- wunderdog, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2No Rhinelander?!
- TwwIX, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2Ramsdorfer Kölsch!
- InfoAddictOS, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2Franziskaner ftw
- Cirrius, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Hoegaarden was always my favorite on a hot day, but Éphémère has stolen that crown. Sad to see it absent from the list...it is a must try for any beer lover.
- kelmaster1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1Both pretty large hefeweisens. They're good wheat beers but you have FAR more to discover if you visit the NW.
- vacax, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Needs New Belgium Skinny Dip
- kelmaster1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1Man, I feel sorry for all the people around here who thing imported German beers and Large scale microbrews (like sierra) are the best. If you live or visit the NW you will discover what an amazing beer is and the excellence of summit cascade hops. It makes all those pussy wheat beers taste like *****.
- confoundedjoe, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Ace is where it's at for cider
- Davram, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1I live a stone's throw from the Bell's brewery and I'm aghast that Oberon isn't on the list. You know summer has officially arrived when people are throwing their Oberon parties in every bar in SW Michigan. I generally dislike citrus-y beers, but this one is near perfect.
- MattBD, on 06/07/2008, -3/+4I think cider is generally a better summer drink than beer, especially Kopparberg's Swedish pear cider.
- Thomaschaaf, on 06/07/2008, -2/+3Kölsch in cologne is so much fun! Legal drinking at 16 rules!
- masterm1nd, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Hmm, it's pretty widely distributed... I would think you could find it somewhat nearby. You could also request your liquor order some (Inbev is the name of the distributer or importer) . I've had luck doing that once before for a different beer.
- kelmaster1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1The king of ass-tasting beers.
- bdbr, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1One of the best beers I've had was a Kölsch, on a summer day near Köln. Then again, I'd just driven over from Belgium and maybe I just really needed a beer. It managed to be light and refreshing but still have real flavor.
- sedington, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Summer Honey! http://www.bigskybrew.com/process/summerhoney.html
- quick1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1Sam Adams White Ale is probably my favorite beer. I thought I'd seen the last of it until yesterday when I found a lone six pack in a bristol farms. Haven't been that excited to buy beer since my fake id days.
- MrMongoose, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1I really wish Sweetwater would get some distribution outside a 1-state radius from Georgia. I toured the brewery back in 2004, and have been craving it ever since. Great beer!
- JFallon126, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1I've had the Sierra Nevada and the Harpoon this summer so far. Both good. I'll have to find some of the Widmer and try it out. Good list.
- jabberwonk, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Green Flash quickly became my favorite "standard IPA" - especially since Victory changed the recipe for Hop Devil. Unfortunately, it's either tough to find or expensive here in Philly ($44 / case!!). I'll save the Green Flash Imperial IPA for fall and winter :)
Troegs pils I think is my favorite one that is easy to get. Sly Fox used to make a Keller Pils - which was supposedly just their Pikeland Pils (which is mediocre at best) that had been barrel fermented. Don't know if that's true or not, but at a couple beer fests a few years ago, that was hands down the best beer at the show. - kaplanfx, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Mirror Pond is good any time. http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/default.aspx
- ColdChilli, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Goose Island's 312
Sam Adams' Summerfest
Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy - BKpimp, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Hoegaarden beeyatches!!! That + BBQ = GOOD TIMES
- pennvneff, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1You should add Session Lager to that list.
http://www.fullsailbrewing.com/session.cfm - Asheis, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1Ahh, their hefeweizen is their worst? I'd like to try their best!
Any suggestions, just turned 21 in p-town, and there are a ton of beers to try here.. what are your personal faves? - cobaltgrc, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Wow, no mention of Bell's Oberon. Shameful.
- joffnz, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Montieths Summer Ale is just pure magic in your mouth. If you're lucky enough to live in NZ or Australia (and can find it)... Golden.
- kelmaster1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1Portland is Beer Capitol of the US, hands down. People in the east and midwest have no idea what kind of beers they're missing out on. The sad thing is that their Hefeweizen is their worst beer because its the one the mass distribute. They all think Sam Adams is a microbrew.. ha!
