- Khanvalescent, on 03/29/2009, -0/+11I grew up in Hawaii and surfed for about 10 years.
- noknockers, on 03/29/2009, -1/+10I wonder how many people on Digg actually surf? Prob not many.
- sassafras1232, on 03/29/2009, -0/+9I got an ice cream headache just looking at that!
- austang, on 03/29/2009, -0/+6yeah and if you think he's good at surfing you should see how good he is at talking in past tense.
- thebeginning, on 03/29/2009, -1/+7Well, that looks uncomfortable.
Sweet waves though. - asgardshill, on 03/29/2009, -1/+6Those guys must have ethylene glycol instead of blood.
- amabaie, on 03/29/2009, -1/+5Let me know when the water's warmer and I'll be there. Love the beach in Rockport, MA.
- chuckDontSurf, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3Yeah, but a lot of us probably *wished* we surfed. Unless it's as cold as in these pics. ***** that.
- RobertGoulet, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3I surf. Grew up surfing on the East coast. Still get in the water as much as I can. We get some pretty good surf where I'm from :-)

google image to your hearts delight. ("tofino surfing" for the good stuff) - noknockers, on 03/29/2009, -0/+2^ nice. You still surf i presume?
- Boner11, on 03/29/2009, -0/+2Anything south of 72 degrees F my ass is in a drysuit. These dudes are nutty.
- RobertGoulet, on 03/29/2009, -0/+2Rhode Island surfers know where it's at. February 14, 2008 an awesome day. With 38 degree water.... Enjoy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njTjMcnYZMQ - devildog1633310, on 03/29/2009, -2/+4SHHHHHHH...... I am a New England Surfer. We don't have any surf up here. Nothing at all. It's flat all the time. Sometimes all we have is beach and rocks. Not even any water. So don't come up here. It's not even worth the trip. Stay where you are, no need to try to come up here and get skunked. Take a nice trip to Costa Rica. Everything sucks here. I say Costa Rica or Hawaii. Yeah Hawaii, take you and the family of groms to Hawaii. I just don't want to see your sad face and the sad faces of your children when they are looking at rocks and sand. Stay home there is nothing here to see.
- Soyea, on 03/29/2009, -0/+2Cold, I live in new england on the seashore and it's cold the water even colder. them folks are insane.
- stinkybinky, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1awesome photo interface that stops pandora everytime i hit next. yes. totally awesome.
- voets, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1drysuit surf?
I just have a 5mm oneil and im fine. - thurows, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Second the drysuit. Long johns fleece and drysuit great for waterskiing and surfing in the winter. Great thing is that your clothes are dry and you're ready to go when you're done.
- bardamu, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Been in 39 degree water before. It's not fun even with a suit. Duck diving is usually immediately followed by lots of pain and some throw up. I at least wait for the mid 40's.
- codyman, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Gotta love Surfer Mag ... representing San Clemente proudly
- ryanonfire, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1So it isn't just Chrome?
- justok, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1what are you? Some sorta global warming debate nazi?
- NiftyG, on 03/29/2009, -1/+2I don't care how thick the wetsuit is - you still have to put your face in it.
- funk49, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1They do, it's called "turning on the jets".
- almk, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Hey, it was 45 degrees here today. That's well above freezing.
- WhiskeyThieves, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1That's crazy, lets hope those wet suits have a heating system built in.
- devildog1633310, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Dude. Come on don't tell everybody. I surf up Cows Bay and Lawence. I like it quiet. The less who know the better
- Hodor, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1you can surf like this in Nova Scotia, too.. just north of Halifax.
- Rivfader, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1These guys are bat ***** crazy.
- diceau, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Yeah relax, there are very few surfers willing to fight the cold for waves like that.
- diceau, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Surfing is about freedom more than the waves at times ... so I'll never brave conditions like that for the sake of a few seconds of bliss, because it just won't be the same as walking to my local break and then heading home to a nice warm shower.
Cool shots all the same. - encephlavator, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1Buried due to lame take-forever-to-load slide-show format.
- voets, on 03/29/2009, -0/+1I am a New England surfer from CT. CT is blocked by Long Island sound so I usually travel up to Rhode Island when the surf is up.
I just got back from a weekend of it this morning - noknockers, on 03/30/2009, -0/+0Yeah, dont come here either. Nothing but sharks and blue bottles here at snapper. I saw some whitewater once, but it was from a boat. Oh yeah, and the waves dont peel for 2km, it's a myth... more like 2cm.
- zipzeezip, on 04/14/2009, -0/+0Brain freeze!
Stumps where feet used to be!
Hypothermia!
EPIC SESH! - noknockers, on 03/29/2009, -0/+0Clay Mazro has aspergers. Check him out. He surfs just about better than anyone.
- dmerfield, on 04/15/2009, -0/+0Daaamn, i think i'll stick with Hawaii.
- devildog1633310, on 03/29/2009, -2/+2SHHHHHHH...... I am a New England Surfer. We don't have any surf up here. Nothing at all. It's flat all the time. Sometimes all we have is beach and rocks. Stay home there is nothing here to see. Don't let the wetsuit companies tell you that it isn't cold. They are lying. I say stay in your warm places and don't come here.
- JimHalpert, on 03/29/2009, -1/+1Thats some cold ass Chilean village water
- Rev0lver, on 03/29/2009, -2/+1Shrinkage much?
- leftcoastfunk, on 03/29/2009, -2/+1ummmm...no thanks.
- DogofWar1, on 03/29/2009, -2/+1I was wondering how long it would take for one of you to show up in the comment section.
4th.
Now, I could explain how there being cold weather in the north has no impact on global warming on the whole, but I think I'll just go with this; there should be a new parallel rule to Godwin's law, namely the longer a story having to do with weather (that is not global warming related) is present, the likelihood that a global warming denier will show up approaches 1.
As an addendum to this rule, as in Godwin's, the one who brings up global warming automatically loses and argument having to do with global warming. - DogofWar1, on 03/29/2009, -1/+0Nope, I just hate ignorance and could smell this from a mile away. If I went out looking for fights I'd never leave.
Furthermore, if I was a debate nazi, I would have launched into the science of it all, which I specifically did not do.
I just enjoy pointing out Godwin's and parallel laws to Godwin's. It's practically a sport with all the neo-cons running around on digg. - ryanonfire, on 03/29/2009, -2/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5j4McFzies
- mongqui, on 03/29/2009, -2/+0cool.
- GreenLynx, on 03/29/2009, -3/+1The + operator in a literary sense means addition or combination. But I'm not correcting you or anything. I'm not being smug either.
- kevinsboy, on 03/29/2009, -4/+1Haaaaadddd cooooaaaaaaarrrr.....
