- Red1Delta, on 07/05/2008, -13/+186This is like three years old, and it's been on digg about 10 times.
I know your secret MrBabyMan you click most viewed videos on youtube and you submit them all. You don't fool anyone. - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -5/+72Who verified it as the biggest? Or is it that it just makes a good headline?
- Inuranic, on 07/05/2008, -4/+53Does anyone else feel less manly after watching this?
- openpaledot, on 07/05/2008, -0/+47Its the opening sequence to the surf film Billabong Odyssey. The surfer is Mike Parsons and the spot is Jaws (60-65 ftish). Its not the biggest he has ever surfed nor is it the biggest anyone has surfed (the largest recorded is Ken Bradshaw at Log Cabins, over 80ft).
Its really an awesome aerial shot that goes from start to finish. You get the impression of just how insane these waves can get and all the power behind them. - xieodeluxed, on 07/05/2008, -7/+40old as the internet
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -7/+34Mr.BabyMan is a disgrace to digg this is incorrectly written title and it has been on the frontpage many times.
- thokks, on 07/05/2008, -0/+20My penis nearly inverted into my stomach.
- nateking1, on 07/05/2008, -5/+22That is some trippy footage.
- devinmurphy, on 07/06/2008, -0/+16This video is literally older than Digg.
- chicophi235, on 07/05/2008, -0/+15The sound on that clip really adds to its effectiveness. As the camera gets further away, the waves fade away and the wind creates a really eerie atmosphere. Probably how the surfer felt... all alone with the wind rushing past him.
Great clip! Way old, but great nonetheless. - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -7/+22Absolutely amazing.
- lukekim91, on 07/05/2008, -1/+16Um no. I guess even diggers like to be so cynical they don't even bother looking into the truth.
you guys remind me of the xkcd comic where the guy calls a real sword fake because the reflections are all wrong. (yeah i don't have the link because i don't jerk off to xkcd and worhip it)
This scene is from the movie Billabong Odyssey, one of my favorite surf videos. The camera work is amazing, and the surfer is Mike Parsons.
No this is not the biggest wave ever surfed. - lazlonger, on 07/06/2008, -3/+17so before i digg a story due to it's actual coolness in the moment and how it made me feel.....i should be sure the contributor is not on your ***** list and instead, digg or not digg stories based on what you digg-counter-elite would prefer that I do? how am i supposed to remember that? can't you just do what he does, one regular dude, but do it better? you seem so organized in your hatred but so disorganized in your application of your hatred....
- roastedbagel, on 07/06/2008, -3/+16I've voiced my opinion on this as well before. It's one thing for MBM to resubmit something that got submitted but never made popular, however this has been ON THE FRONT PAGE at least 3 times in the past 8 months, and no im not on digg 24/7.
I understand people "like" how MBM submits things that maybe other people have missed, knowing if he submits it it will make it to the front page, but cmon, i myself love to surf and LOVE this clip, but im sick of seeing it every 50 days on digg. sheesh - BIGHED, on 07/05/2008, -4/+15Bodie did it.
***** that Johnny Utah. - Featherlake, on 07/05/2008, -6/+17Now I know why MrBabyMan get so much *****!
How does ancient stuff like this get Dugg? Oh wait... - hddigger, on 07/05/2008, -1/+11Again? This is like the 4th time this video has been on the front page.
- KidTechno, on 07/05/2008, -3/+13gnarly
- snookky, on 07/05/2008, -2/+9comment from youtube
"weak, just pathetic, my dumps make bigger waves. That surfer sucks too, pssshh i'd rape him if I was ridin that weenie wave." - Lax32, on 07/05/2008, -4/+11OM NOM NOM NOM
- WhoDoneIt, on 07/05/2008, -1/+7I tried surfing for the first time in Tofino last week. The waves were 3-4 feet and I thought I was doing good, even though I couldn't get up on the board. This is just amazing and I now can understand what type of skill + balls you need to pull something like this off.
- Spudster, on 07/06/2008, -0/+6...Or frontpage Reddit. He seems to visit there a lot too.
- DNABeast, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5This isn't fake. This is from the beginning of the Billabong Odyssey video. A very good watch.
I found out about this the LAST time I saw it on digg. - Cleric907, on 07/06/2008, -0/+5Wrong.
- SwankRock3000, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Whoever's digging this down just can't appreciate a good "Point Break" reference when they hear it.
- b0rna, on 07/06/2008, -0/+5i fell for it.
- WaveyRavey, on 07/06/2008, -1/+6Wrong, he fools most people.
- themastersb, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4This is front page of Digg at least 5 times old.
- ievanssc, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4Waves that size are physically impossible to paddle into. To catch a wave you need to match or come close to its speed, and waves of that size move much too quickly to be caught without a ski. Watch "Step Into Liquid" or "Riding Giants" and they explain it pretty well.

The man who invented it/the greatest surfer who ever lived: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcaZarxilJQ - wadev, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4Its the opening shot from Billabong Odyssey. Thats Mike Parsons riding and Brad Gerlach whipping him in on the jetski.. It's definetly Jaws... You want to ride Cortes Banks without a wetsuit? Its freezing and for finaly proof... Mike Parson interview where he talks about the wave. http://www.extremesports365.com/features/story_584 ...
and not the biggest wave ever ridden... - db0255, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5If MBM really wanted to see content on the front page whether it is his or not like he purports. He would take the story, shout it to his friends. Not just resubmit it for himself.
- crodragn, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3That's like saying downhill skiing isn't real skiing because you use a chairlift instead of climbing the hill yourself. Who cares how you start the run, what matters is the run itself. Which is rather awesome in this case.
- fdelucio, on 07/05/2008, -1/+4what a ***** idiot you are Scottievm
- Spudster, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3You mean when your momma fell down?
- ASSHO, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3you guys are stupid, that's Jaws, not cortez banks, u morons. He would have been wearing a wetsuit if it was cortez banks
- Spudster, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2I was honestly just about to say the same thing. I knew before looking that MrBabyMan submitted this.
- cheekdog, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2i've been to tofino...you can actually surf in tofino?? lol
- encrypteduser, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2Yeah, these guys get towed in 100+ miles into the ocean to do this *****.
Laird Hamilton and his crazy ass friends! http://youtube.com/watch?v=s0Pw7vKtqpo - Yookji, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2That is no wave, my friend. Technically, it is called a breaker.
- anotherjack, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2 Relevance, wit, appropriateness, are a matter of feel. Things that are basically the same aren"t the same. You either got it or you don't. Diggs are brutal but generally accurate reflections of that.
"This is literally older than digg."
is a comment that gets a Digg from me for being true and interesting. However..
"This is as old as the internet."
feels like an exaggeration, a reflex, with no wit or spirit to it. - inactive, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3this was amazing the last 10 times its been on digg get over it
- grey580, on 07/05/2008, -1/+3old
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2It is old and I would still ***** myself if I was in that wave.
- Tempest261, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Awesome. Makes the 2 ft wind chop I surfed (tried to anyway) today seem even more lame.
- mohsenxp, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2that wave was amazing!
How far off shore would they be does anyone know? - innovaciones, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Parsons
- SHUUTOBI, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Wow this is almost getting as bad as rick rolls...
- Virgule, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2The sound make it all the most dramatic. Respect nature's power.
/nod sagely - ak1200, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2I hate to be "that guy", but I don't feel the beginning sequence of a five year old video (Billabong Odyssey) is Digg worthy. Don't get me wrong, this is absolutely insane and I love seeing it, I just would be more impressed by seeing something new.
- MidnightHour12, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3It's quite a well known wave. It was ridden out on Cortez Bank miles off of the California coast. It's not the largest wave ever ridden, but it's not far off.
