- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -1/+30Damn, 80 years? You'd think he would have died after a minute or two.
- spookyttws, on 02/15/2009, -4/+18Crazy Aussie's. I mean who has their summer in the winter months? It's like they live on the other side of the world or something.
- DavidTurnbull, on 02/15/2009, -0/+10They do. It'd be dumb for journalists to include all the basic facts about the shark anatomy though...
- Five9, on 02/15/2009, -0/+7There is no way that picture of Bondi beach packed with people and under the blue sky is from yesterday...it has been raining in Sydney for a week. Also...more people are killed by vending machines a year than by sharks...just sayin'.
- ajv570, on 02/15/2009, -3/+10OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM
- Topkill, on 02/15/2009, -1/+7Live every week like it's Shark Week.
- mlagana, on 02/15/2009, -1/+7we actually had two shark attacks in two days, this one at bondi, and a similar one in sydney harbour... military diver almost lost his hand i believe.
- jedinsyd, on 02/15/2009, -0/+6This is lame news, people actually die from drowning on this beach each month. THis article is just playing on peoples fear of sharks.
- poorbusker, on 02/15/2009, -0/+6Summers not going too well in Australia this year is it?
- infinitejones, on 02/15/2009, -1/+6Minor point but in regards to the second picture of "beachgoers escaping the heat yesterday" - I live at Bondi and the weather was not like that yesterday. 19 degrees and pouring with rain.
- tgc1, on 02/15/2009, -0/+4I really get upset when they sensationalize articles like this.
News Flash: There are other things in the Ocean other than yourself. If you go into the ocean, be prepared to deal with them. Some creatures in the ocean are a LOT bigger than you. Some of them are hungry and may mistake you for food.
Bottom line is that this guy is still alive. The reason he's alive is because the Shark figured out its error in judgment. You'd think people would learn not to go so far out in areas where sharks are but I think I hope for too much in terms of common sense with regard to people. If you're dumb enough to surf in an area where Sharks are known to patrol, you either have a death wish or are incompetent. - pingudownunder, on 02/15/2009, -1/+4buried for Daily Fail.
Why the fsck do we have to digg Australian news from racist pommie tabloid press sites. - mlagana, on 02/15/2009, -0/+3actually, sharks are re entering our coastlines as a result of our water becoming cleanlier. pretty important to communicate what's going on in our beaches.
- joshjx, on 02/15/2009, -0/+2damn... dugg for the awesome great white shark pic !
- apoc519, on 02/15/2009, -0/+2I thought that was funny. The weather has been miserable for the past week
- WhoDoneIt, on 02/15/2009, -0/+2Not sure why you are getting dugg down. Not the most brilliant post, but none-the-less worthy of a + sign.
- RansomHoldiay, on 02/15/2009, -0/+2yet still roughly 10 times as many people are killed by coconuts every year than sharks. so look up more.
- notoneofus, on 02/15/2009, -1/+3One person is killed each year, but that doesn't mean only one person is attacked.
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -0/+1Ok
- sotose, on 02/15/2009, -0/+1He's drier than you.
- apoc519, on 02/15/2009, -0/+1I was in the water when that happened although further up the beach. There was dead jellyfish all along the beach and the smell of rotting fish. Guess we should have seen it coming
- DarkRappey, on 02/15/2009, -0/+1I think people are sensitive to insulting Australia because of the fires, but any other time would have been funny :)
Digg from me - vagrantwade, on 02/15/2009, -0/+1Didn't see that one coming. Thanks.
- inactive, on 02/16/2009, -0/+1Ask Scott McIntyre - he *loves* the Daily Mail.
- Dilly1688, on 02/15/2009, -1/+2Do you know that most shark attacks on surfers are because the shark mistakes them for seals, and if you think about it, people on surfboards really do like like a seal if your looking up from down under (no pun intended, lol). Its almost as if surfers are asking to get mauled.
- diceau, on 02/15/2009, -0/+1Just seems like a stupid comment ... the AP reference was 'ok' but ... meh.
- mitchography, on 02/15/2009, -1/+1Australia, we have sharks and *****.. come on down.
- Miraa, on 02/15/2009, -2/+2Seems weird to Digg a man getting mauled. But I did it anyway.
- borschwanger, on 02/15/2009, -1/+1global warming
- vido33, on 02/27/2009, -0/+0sharks suck.
- inactive, on 02/16/2009, -1/+1Truth mauled in Daily Mail. Another crappy Mail article, Scott?
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -3/+3Quit your bitching, Westphalia
Don't be my bro with a tazer. - StickWST, on 02/15/2009, -2/+1Yes! I've always wanted to make a comment controversial enough to maintain an unimpressive digg count, but a lot of ups and downs!
+9/-10 - zvoidx, on 02/15/2009, -1/+0*****!! The place is on fire...jump in the water!!! FUHHHHK, sharks!!!
Now, if I could just manage to hover in this one spot in the air...there, that's it...
Damn you, air monkeys!!!! - Natnie, on 02/15/2009, -2/+1You can bury me, but it will still be true ;)
- tehchieftain, on 02/15/2009, -2/+1Sharks don't give a *****. If they bite you, they will probably eat you. This guy isn't alive because of a Shark *realized* its error in judgement.
- Sil369, on 02/15/2009, -2/+1*roar*

I'll settle for Shark Attack news till then. - Med_Dude, on 02/15/2009, -4/+2Old
- Zervaman, on 02/15/2009, -4/+2*Insert Jaws theme song*
- EoNhausen, on 02/15/2009, -2/+0That's what you get for swimming in the ocean where sharks LIVE.
- trythison4sighs, on 02/16/2009, -2/+0They wouldn't have this problem if they just had GUNS!!!
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -6/+1But Can the Shark Run Crysis?
- Azerael, on 02/15/2009, -6/+1This must have something to do with Islam, I know it. The terrorist sharks are coming.
NEVER FORGET. - Natnie, on 02/15/2009, -7/+2Serves 'em right for swimming at Bondi, the most overrated beach in the world.
- doublefelix, on 02/14/2009, -9/+3"On average, just one person is killed by a shark in Australia each year, according to the Australian Shark Attack File database." Lately, these attacks in Australia seem to have become a lot more prevalent.
- calenerd, on 02/15/2009, -9/+2They do.
