- inactive, on 11/07/2008, -0/+8Jenga @ 9000!
- Orsenfelt, on 11/07/2008, -0/+6This puts those chess games on rollercoasters pics to shame..
- diggB, on 11/07/2008, -0/+5Whoops. Dropped a letter.
- vilago, on 11/07/2008, -0/+5The rush of free-fall alone would distract me away from playing. I'd be ***** screaming the whole time.
Dugg for the inventor's last name being my ass. - HonestAbe, on 11/07/2008, -0/+4The copyright on Scrabble should have expired by now.
- RealmDown, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3Yeah, like fogles and all aliases thereof.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3You don't use lead scrabble tiles?!
- wolfz0rz, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3I think there are only 9 A's in a standard tile set.
- elmetald00d, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3idiot
- Nevermor7, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3...@ 13,000 ft...
- shortyjacobs, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Really? you took a story about two brits jumping out of an airplane at 13,000 feet and playing scrabble into a political statement‽
Shut down the computer and go outside. Now. - vypergts, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Should have been chess...
- r0mper, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2I think it's more impressive that they've been together for 60 years
- bstew22, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Sorry! @ 15000, thanks.
- YankeeSR23, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2FTA: The skydivers, Nicole Angelides and Ramsey Kent, are helping to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the game using a reinforced wooden board and adhesive pieces.
More than 150million Scrabble sets have been produced since American architect Alfred Mosher Butts came up with the concept in 1938.
So which of these statements is incorrect? Either the game is 70 years old or it was made in 1948.
Good job Daily Mail on your reporting. - christinme, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2screenshot or it didn't......damn nevermind
- whatignorance, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Ah yes, but there is such a thing as terminal velocity, even the board has a low mass to surface area ratio (and I don't think a scrabble board would 'fall' very well) meaning that it won't get to a very high speed.
BTW I never use my lead scrabble tiles while skydiving, that's just irresponsible. - Zippo, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Good thing it wasn't Monopoly... something tells me they'd need to drop from much, much higher.
- inactive, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Whole new meaning to Travel Scrabble.
- himey, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2I have done skydiving. It is possible, but it wouldn't be easy.
You just have to make sure that neither person lets go of one of those handles. The other guy would get smacked with the board.
Now with that being said, you only get a little over a minute of free fall from 13,000 feet so you'd better think quickly. You won't have time for more than a move or two per jump. It would take a long time to play a whole game. - BuddingMonkey, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Didn't work the first time...
- hellbAsement, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2forgot parachute 15 points
- pirategonzo, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2I think that is a girl.
- EricAnderton, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2My thought as well. I'm actually surprised that XKCD didn't do this first.
- Zippo, on 11/07/2008, -1/+3Not the trademark, though.
- mreade, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Lol, you could be right... still, it's a good effort!
- cynic573, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2...but who won?!
- thaprinze, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1It would have been funnier if they played charades & video taped it.
- KayinAngel, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1you know the world is too big when
- adriaaan, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2I'm guessing the pieces were glued to the board beforehand.
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -1/+2Wow, what a couple of crazy kooks!
- vilago, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1how many points is "*****" worth?
- Valyn, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry.
- Ganpachi, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2Mosher Butts is the name of the dude that invented it? learn something new every day!!
- thechr0nic, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1If you want obama to tax dangerous activities (which by the way is an idiotic idea, but I digress)
Then I guess you wouldnt mind a tax on driving (which is one the most dangerous activities that anyone will ever do in their life.)
You also wouldnt mind a tax on obesity because obesity is one of the leading causes of death and rise of health care costs
I personally would place a tax on your stupidity, but im not president... yet. - shortyjacobs, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Someones what?
- jcundall, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1"Daddy, whats that up there?"
"Thats just two idiots skydiving from a plane while playing scrabble"
"Well whats that?"
"Thats a bird with a scrabble board in his mouth" - bigkeeperrabbit, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Yeah, but I bet you could put an eye out.
- jimbo92107, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1I tried doing my taxes that way, but I gave up when I slammed into the ground at 150mph.
- psykiv, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Monopoly.... IN SPACE
