Skydivers Are Pictured Playing Scrabble At 13,000ft

dailymail.co.uk — Daredevil, extreme and bonkers are three words that come to mind.But it's doubtful whether the duo playing Scrabble at 13,000ft will have time to try them out. The skydivers, Nicole Angelides and Ramsey Kent, are helping to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the game using a reinforced wooden board and adhesive pieces.

    More than 150million Scrabble sets have been produced since American architect Alfred Mosher Butts came up with the concept in 1938.

    So which of these statements is incorrect? Either the game is 70 years old or it was made in 1948.

  • whatignorance, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Ah yes, but there is such a thing as terminal velocity, even the board has a low mass to surface area ratio (and I don't think a scrabble board would 'fall' very well) meaning that it won't get to a very high speed.

    BTW I never use my lead scrabble tiles while skydiving, that's just irresponsible.

    You just have to make sure that neither person lets go of one of those handles. The other guy would get smacked with the board.

    Now with that being said, you only get a little over a minute of free fall from 13,000 feet so you'd better think quickly. You won't have time for more than a move or two per jump. It would take a long time to play a whole game.

    Then I guess you wouldnt mind a tax on driving (which is one the most dangerous activities that anyone will ever do in their life.)
