In 1995, me and several other (inline) skaters took a run at skating them backwards. As we went down, one of our friends skates got caught and he literally just flew backwards, slamming his head on the pavement. Luckily a car who had seen it stopped and called an ambulance. He instantly had to go to GWU emergency care and after some CT scans, they had to cut open his skull to allieve pressure on his brain. He was out of school for like two months. Ever since that incident, I wear a helmet when doing aggressive skating.
For other skaters who want to ride the Canadian embassy, do realize that security is normally pretty tight and the guards will call the Secret Service (they protect US embassies) almost immediately. Oh and those stairs are made from imported Canadian marble which is why they are so "protective" of it.
